Hale Mohalu was an idyllic experience for me and the family. Michael was very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Staying in avocado and lime groves with the evening sounds of crickets and frogs and fresh morning fruit was the ultimate.
Location-wise, it's the perfect balance between a rural escape and proximity to Pahoa shops and Island sights. Highly recommended.
Michael was a gracious host- easy to communicate with and responsive. This home was, as others have said, a retreat-like sanctuary. The grounds are stunning and the house welcoming and comfortable. My family enjoyed our time here immensely. Being off the grid was a great lesson for all of us in our energy usage! Pahoa is a neat area too and it was fun to explore an un-touristed side of the island.
This is a wonderful property! it is like a little paradise. Orchards of lychees that were the best ones I've ever tasted! There were mango, papaya, mountian apples, avocado and banana trees as well as palm fruit! The house was clean and spacious and the breeze was so nice! I was sung to sleep by the chorus of coqui frogs which I enjoyed where as the locals did not (ha ha). We even had the pleasure of having a visit from a Ferrel pig who wanted to snack on the apples...we all ran to get our cameras! Micheal was a pleasant host who catered to us but gave us the space for solitude. I really liked that the house was solar powered and the water for my showers were rain water. It felt more refreshing! When I come back to Hawaii, I will be staying here again. There is a neat cafe called the Tin Shack 5 min away in down town Pahoa. The night market at Uncle Awa's that was Great. The Pahoa farmer's market on Sunday!! Love love loved it all!! Thanks again Micheal for having this place available to rent!
Everything about this stay was top notch. We were in paradise and Mike was helpful. We loved our stay and would recommend it to our friends. Mimi
The house and grounds were so beautiful! Michael and Davis were gracious hosts.
