This little house is located close to our yoga shala where you are invited to practice if you are so inclined.
We are a family of five: mother, father, and three lively, lovely girls. We are fortunate have four beautiful dogs, many chickens, and a lot of beautiful wildlife around us. Interaction with Guests
We all love to meet new people of all ages, countries, and cultures. If they have kids, we welcome their kids to play with with ours. The fact that we have live near by gives them the chance to choose interactions, things do happen in a natural kind of way. We like open-minded, free-spirited, and peaceful people who are aware and respectful of all living things.
We don't have many neighbors, the few we have live up the hill and they are wonderful people. We are lucky to be surrounded by nature and feel fortunate to have a large property and that gives us a lot or privacy.
There is public transport and there are also taxis to and from Ancud. They can take our guests up to the top of the hill (400 mts. walk from the property)
If our guests rent their own car, a 4x4 will come all the way to the property, but a 4x2 will have to stay 400 mts up the hill. Everyone who stayed was happy to walk and we help them out when needed.
Other Things to Note
We love and respect nature and have created a life here on this magnificent island where the air is clean, the rain is fresh and the storms are powerful. Chiloe is a generous and magical island that has welcomed us and gave us a home, we hope to help you have a taste of it and welcome you to paradise, for real ! even in the strongest storm with horizontal rain, you will feel that you are in paradise, all we want is to treat Chiloe and the beautiful Chilotes with the same respect they show towards us.
We truly value respecting each other, the land and the nature around us. We welcome people who share these important values.
One last note about provisions:
Please buy your food in town before coming to stay, as there are no markets or shops nearby. There are, fishermen who stop on the beach--and you are welcome to buy fresh seafood from their catches--but this opportunity depends on weather conditions and other factors... so it is best to bring food (and anything else you might need from town) with you when you arrive. Thank you for having read it all and see you in Chiloe!
This is a gorgeous place. Sitting in the living room or bedroom you feel like you are on the beach. Britt and Sandra are charming and attentive hosts who know a great deal about Chiloe and are happy to share their insights and passion.
It is best to stay several days here so there will be time to just absorb the place. You don't need a four wheel drive for getting about the island but you do need one to reach the beach house. We enjoyed the walk
To the car but it is up a somewhat steep hill on a pebble path and so may not be for everyone.
We really enjoyed our stay in the beachfront cottage. The views are fantastic and the location is extremely private and naturally very beautiful. The beach is gorgeous although during our time there it was very windy. Nonetheless, my two children had a great time paddling and collecting shells. The house itself is extremely comfortable, light and bright. It is well furnished and has everything you need for cooking. The master bedroom is stunning and the bed is very comfortable, I slept so well while there! The children's sleeping area is in an open plan loft accessed by a wooden ladder, it is very cosy and my kids loved it. We also enjoyed a delicious three course meal and pisco sours prepared by Sandra who cooks better food than you will find in most of the local restaurants. Sandra and Britt were wonderful, warm and friendly hosts and made us feel completely at home. We highly recommend the house if you are looking for private, comfortable self contained accommodation surrounded by nature.
Sandra is a great host. She has a beautiful place by the shore. The house is nicely decorated with local goods. It is a relaxing environment. She and her husband were very helpful in planning our short trip for the day and they welcomed us warmly. Definitely recommended.
We had a great time. Sandra and Britt are very helpful and present at all times to help us with the challenges.
The house is small, but cleverly designed to perfectly fit a family - or a romantic getaway. The master bedroom is spacious taking into account the small spaces available. No tv, and no internet, but through the big windows you can see dolphins, seabirds and local fishermen.
To get to the house you need a 4x4 if driving in your own car. Ancud is located off the touristic centre in Chiloe (normally Castro), but we did not find that as being an issue since what we were looking for were quiet holidays - and Ancud has much more charm than Castro.
Sandra and Britt has organised a space inside their house, where you can dine, and the food is divine. Sandra made us an incredible delicious aji de gallina from her native Peru.
In the main property are some very good swings, and a path going through some native "monte". The sand is thick and the girls were thrilled drawing. Be aware of the janaury locusts, the tabaño, which on sunny days can be an irritating presence.
We woke up to views of dolphins playing outside the bedroom window. How can you beat that? This home is gorgeous, cozy, and kid friendly, perfect for a small family like ours. It's a real getaway, lovingly secluded and yet close enough to so many beautiful things to be explored. And the design of this place is just so elegant - so much thought went into the details.
We didn't have a 4x4 but Sandra & Britt kindly helped us get our stuff to and from the car and we enjoyed the walk when we left this heavenly home. The wifi access point isn't available in the house itself, but they welcomed us into their home whenever we were craving some internet access. And there we got to make friends with their gregarious dogs and adorable children.
We'd go back in a heartbeat. This was the ideal way to see Chiloe.
Wow! Talk about natural beauty! I had to pinch myself each morning when I awoke to the sprawling vista of the lake in the forefront and the three volcanos in the background (one located in Argentina!) from my bed (one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in). This house on the bay outside of Ancud was just perfect! Beautiful space inside and out. Awesome, clean design that blends perfectly with the beauty of the beach just steps away (very long, white sandy beach with 100% sand beneath your feet in the water as well), tall, natural grasses waving in the breeze surround the home. Beachy, fresh, tranquil, private describe best. We were 5 adults staying 2 nights. Everything you could need in this well designed space. Property is a short drive from the bustle of town. Driveway requires 4x4 to get to house. Sandra and Britt are wonderful local resources and have a healthy respect for nature -- we appreciated their efforts in reducing consumption as well as composting and recycling & encouraging their guests to do the same. They are kind and friendly hosts, as are their dogs (we got to know Victoria, a large, very friendly, gentle dog particularly well -- she welcomed us warmly as we came and went:)
We really toiled when planning this trip, in particular, where to locate ourselves for our 2 nights on Chiloé. Having been there, I think the location was perfect. We drove 1/2 hour to see the penguin colonies, and were also able to drive to Castro the same day to see all the wooden churches, etc. This home was a little slice of heaven and I would have stayed for 2 months if I had the time.
Sandra and Britt are great hosts. Beautiful cabin and location. One thing to keep in mind is that it requires either 4X4 to get to or a short walk up and down a hill. We enjoyed the walk!

Seventeen years ago my husband Britt and I came to Chiloe. He is from upstate New York and I am from a small town in the beautiful highlands of Peru.
We began our life together by building a boat. Then came the house, three beautiful girls, dogs, chickens and now a cat.
We have three gorgeous guest houses we have built by hand. My passion for yoga led us to build a beautiful yoga shala by the sea. We are happy to share it all with open-minded, honest people.
