Our 150-year-old Molino is a former water mill that was partly built into the rock and lies above the rooftops of Santa Cruz de la Palma. Everything has been renovated but left in its original state. It is the first of the 4 mills and the fastest to reach:
From the road, there are 150 steps uphill and only 150 m of hiking trail (PR LP 2.2) uphill. A very special place that offers proximity to nature and all the amenities of the city.

The space
The ideal location for hikers and nature lovers who want to reach the amenities of the city on foot - located directly on the hiking trail.
The front door leads directly to the spacious kitchen/dining room. The room has a wall of natural rock, a hammock and a large dining table. In the fully equipped kitchen you will find a fridge, gas stove with oven, sink, washing machine and a beautiful view of the sea through the small kitchen window.
In the adjoining living room, you can relax on one of the two cozy sofas or in the old Canarian windows and watch the sea. YouTube can be used on the smart TV or your own Prime/Netflix/GoglePlay account. In addition, there is a work table with a normal chair in the living room.
The bathroom with natural stone floor and small cave is equipped with a sink, toilet, bidet and shower.
In the bedroom, a spacious bed (180 × 200) and a sleeping chair (80 × 200) await you (the sleeping chair can also be placed in the living room). Here you can enjoy the morning sun through a large aluminum glass door to the outside on the former mill ramp... and in the afternoon sit in the pleasant shade on the steps and let your gaze wander over Santa Cruz and the ocean with a cortado.
Outdoors, there are three small terraces. A mosaic terrace with a table and chairs. Here you can eat great food and have a great view of the mountains and the other three mills. The other two terraces overlook the high houses of the city to the sea and can be used for eating, sunbathing, gymnastics or whatever. In addition, there is a table with benches and sea views in front of the house. This is our favorite breakfast spot.
For refreshment, a cold water outdoor shower (partially visible) awaits you on an old millstone. On sunny days, the shower can also be warm :)

Other things to note
Since the Molino can only be reached on foot via 150 steps and about 200 m of hiking trail, a backpack is recommended for arrival and shopping.
Our mill is already 150 years old. Windows and doors do not close hermetically. This is absolutely necessary for the indoor climate. At the same time, geckos can get into the house. These nocturnal and twilight-active animals are welcome as they provide natural insect protection. Nevertheless, if, for example, food remains open, ants can get into the house. Therefore, please make sure to take the garbage to the public garbage cans regularly and not leave any food scraps lying around in the house.

The Molino itself is one of four old water mills that are spread out on the slope and are described in various guidebooks. Due to the orientation to the east and south, there is long sun here and you can enjoy sunrises and the view of the neighboring islands of Gomera and Tenerife.
