The Space

We have a room available in a large, spacious and gay friendly apartment in the very heart of Barcelona's El Born district (also known as La Ribera). The room has a large double bed and we have reliable, high speed WIFI throughout the apartment.

We love Barcelona and want you to love it as much as we do. That is why we are happy to tell you all of our favourite places, and some of Barcelona's best kept secrets which the average tourist doesn't find out about.

You will have the use of our comfortable living space, bathroom and separate WC, as well as our fully equipped kitchen. A basic breakfast will be provided for you to take at your leisure, or should you prefer something more extravagant you can step out of the front door and choose one of the many bakeries or cafes. Free coffee, tea, water and milk is included. With the Mercado Santa Caterina just on our doorstep, you can enjoy fresh produce, meat and fish at anytime of the day.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS NOW AVAILABLE (Subject to availability) - Please ask for details.

Guest Access

Guests will have full use to all of the facilities in the apartment and are welcome to share and use our living space and fully equipped kitchen. We want our guests to feel like it's your own home while they stay with us.

The Neighborhood

Small, intimate, friendly and funky, 'Born' is where just about everything fashionable is happening now - in art, clothes design, interior decoration, smart restaurants, cool cocktail lounges, chic wine bars and hip dance clubs. The area has two distinct personalities, daytime, and nighttime. The former, you can shop till you drop or spend your days visiting one of the many museums (including the Picasso museum) or monuments in the area, the latter, you can wine, dine and soak up the atmosphere, or head out to one of the many bars or clubs (you won't need a taxi to get home!).

Plaza Catalunya, the infamous Las Ramblas, the port, Santa Maria del Mar Cathedral, and the beach are all within a 10 minute walk, as well as the Parc de la Ciutadella, the stunning Palau de la Musica and the Barcelona Zoo. El Born has it all. Just imagine Soho, Covent Garden and Notting Hill all rolled in to one.

Getting around

We are within a 5 minute walk to 3 out of the 5 metro lines. Jaume 1, Urquinoana and Catalunya are our closest metro stations, and we are also close to Estació de França, the international train station, and Estació del Nord, the main bus station in the city.

  • We've enjoyed our stay in Barcelona at Paul´s apartment. It was clean and our room with a double bed quite big with view in the backyard. Unfortunately it was quite loud in the morning, because of truck loading / delivery noise for Burger King. We saw Paul just when we arrived, we stayed the weekend alone in the flat, his roommates were also not there, therefore the flat was empty and calm. He was very nice and offered (email hidden) and help us to orient ourselfes. The neighbourhoods Gothic, El Born and Center is in walking distance. A very nice bakery is just around the corner. Thx

  • The place is in a great location and Paul was extremely helpful. We hardly saw the other roommates but when we did they were very nice and helpful.
The room is huge and the apartment has everything you need.
Definitely recommend this place to anyone heading to Barcelona

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Bercelona at Paul´s apartment. It was very clean and our room with a double bed was really big. Paul offered a shuttle service from and to the airport, which was very comfortable. He and his roommate were very nice and gave us recommendations where to go and what to see. The location of the apartment is perfect, in walking distance to a lot of sights and restaurants. A bakery, a supermarket and an indoor market just around the corner. Our first AirBnB experience: a perfect start.

  • The apartment is located at a very good location in the center of barcelona, where most of the action is happening, close 3 minutes walking from the La Rambla street.

When we first arrived and entered the apartment we got a very clean room, where the door is going straight to the living room. 90% of the time, nobody was present at the living room so we had our own area, quiet, clean and private.

The kitchen is very much accessorized, with pots, pans, cutlery and everything else needed for cooking. It has also a large refrigerator, Nespresso machine with coffee tablets and cereal for a fast breakfast. Nearby the apartment you can find a cheap supermarket and a great local market, where you can buy all the things you want for cooking in general.

Paul was very nice and kind, he explained us specifically about nearby places where we should go, such as supermarkets, good local restaurants, and tourist locations not-to-miss. We went to some of the places he recommended and were never disappointed.

Paul is very much aware of the apartment and taking care of all the important, as well as the things: Cleaning the apartment, activating dishwasher, cleaning the toilets, making sure we have toilet paper and fresh & clean towels all the time. Hot water is available all the time.

The apartment itself is looking just great. The living room is equipped with a large TV and sofas to lay down and watch a good movie. It also has cable-ready VGA & HDMI including adapters for your computers, if you are willing to bring your own. The room has a king-size bed suitable easily for two, very comfortable and great for resting after a busy day in Barcelona.

Generally, I would recommend this apartment for anyone, from lonely pals that are looking for a place to put their head to young couples that want to enjoy a beautiful apartment in the center of Barcelona. The experience was great, Paul gave us everything we needed and much more, and made sure we had a blast during our stay in the city. I can say that definitely, when I will be back to another trip in Barcelona I will contact Paul again. Gracias, Senior!

  • Had a great visit in Barcelona with Paul. We even walked about the city and got a sense of my bearings. Great host, very polite, clean and tidy, and gave me a very welcome experience.

One star off was because of the single-pane windows, which meant you heard all the street noise at night; garbage collection and younger catalonians whooping it up, and the windows made it was generally chilly. Upstairs dog didn't help matters, because it would bark at any disturbance in the night, compounding the noise.

Mind you, we had particularly chilly weather at that time, and I bet the rest of the year is actually quite wonderful because of the design to keep it cool.

  • Paul (email hidden), very friendly and a gentleman, offered me full access to his kitchen including cereals and coffee machine. The apartment, located extremely well, and a very short walk of many eating places, the gothic quarter, metro stop, and everything else. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable.

  • "Clean, Modern & Very Very Central": the perfect name for this flat. The owner Poul is the perfect gentleman we spent in that place a great time. I suggest to everyone than want visit Barcellona this location. We were satisfied a lot and, last but not least, we will return in the future. Thanks Paul for your kindness.

  • My husband and I loved staying at Paul's place, the location was perfect, right in the heart of the city and we could walk to many interesting places. The apartment is very nice, modern, spacious and so clean. The room was very comfortable and it was very nice for us to go back to such a place after a long day around the city. Paul was not there during our stay but he made all the necessary arrangements to make our stay comfortable and pleasant, he even left us a bottle of wine! We stayed with Paul's friend, Darren, and he was very nice and friendly and was helpful in giving us information on how to get around the city. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this place!!

  • Paul maintains an excellent and oh so central room in Catalunya I would highly recommend to anyone. You see the Gaudi Cathedral 70 meters from your front door and everything else Barcelona offers. Plenty of walking only streets all around the neighborhood. And Paul was the gracious host; answering all touristy questions cheerfully and recommending good restaurants and places to visit. A 5 star location in an excellent building. Real value.

About
A fun loving and friendly 29 year old English guy. Relaxed and laid back with a good sense of humour. I have now lived in Barcelona for 7 years and want to share my amazing experiences of the city with others. I love to travel and visit new places, I love to eat out, enjoy a cocktail on a terrace or sit on the beach, as well as the odd big night out. In the UK I used to work as a restaurant manager, but here I work in an office, I love meeting new people and I miss that aspect of my previous career, and this is why I have started to host on Airbnb. I am confident that you will have a much more enjoyable and relaxed visit to Barcelona, than you would in a hotel.
