The Frog House is an adorable one bedroom house located walking distance to Main Street Sarasota. This little house was built in 1925, but recently remodeled and now features central air, wifi and two flat screen TVs with cable.
Completely remodeled 1925 bungalow for rent, walking distance to Main Street, Farmer's Market and Whole Foods. Cottage has its own private parking space and completely fenced tropical backyard with outdoor dining table and two adirondack chairs for privacy and getting a great sun tan. This is a perfect location - bring your bikes and explore all of the historic corners of Sarasota with its fabulous restaurants and outdoor cafes, shopping, art festivals, theatres, opera and ballet. You can easily ride your bikes over the bridge and out to the beach too! Sarasota features world famous beaches. The Ringling Museum (free on Mondays), Selby Gardens, Myakka State Park (alligators guaranteed) and Mote Aquarium are other attractions just a short distance away. You will fall in love with Sarasota and the Frog House!!
Guests will have access to a private deck, and the "outhouse" Laundromat, a funny little shack which we have salvaged and put coin operated machines into.
Interaction with Guests
Guests have instant access to the apartment via an electronic door lock set to the last four digits of their telephone number-no need to stress about arrival times. We live next door, and are available via cell phone. We will generally stop by to say hi, and introduce ourselves, but try to give our guests full privacy, unless we can help in any way. A large basket with maps and brochures is available in the apartment to help explore the area.
We love being able to walk into downtown Sarasota and walk along the bayfront to watch the sunset. The town is especially fun on Saturday mornings during the farmer's market.
You can walk to lots of restaurants, shops and grocery stores. There is a convenient bus system to get out to the beach as well. Plenty of parking is available on the street at no charge.
Sorry, no smoking and no pets allowed in the Frog House.
The Frog house is charming and spotlessly clean. We loved staying here and we definitely would again.
Andrea was a very responsive, flexible and welcoming host. We did not give her an opportunity to meet us because we arrived very late and were very busy for the 3 day stay, but we knew she was right next door if we needed anything. She left us a nice bottle of wine and coffee with real half and half for breakfast.
We enjoyed being able to walk to downtown. We found a cool bar and restaurant called the Starlite Room which was open very late. The neighborhood is hip and changing (for the better,) but some parts are not entirely lovely although we felt totally safe there even late at night.
The fan for the central air conditioning unit is a bit loud when it cycles on at night. Most people wouldn't even notice this, but its worth mentioning incase you are a very light sleeper.
Stay here. You will love it!
Andrea and Mike are expert airbnb hosts, and very friendly and personable. They were a pleasure to meet and talk to, and offered many great tips about the area. We found the Frog House clean, beautifully decorated, and well suited to our needs. There is a little fenced-in area which makes a courtyard only for the Frog House, and we liked the privacy. We also appreciated the one-round induction cooktop for boiling water in the mornings.
The place was wonderful-- clean, easily accessible with punch code access, and an accommodating, but private host. We got married on Lido Beach and stayed here before leaving for our honeymoon- perfect private space with a fenced in yard we chilled in all day after our busy wedding. As Lido residents ourselves it was a welcome respite mini vacation. A++
The Frog House was just perfect for me! There wasn't a single thing missing in terms of comforts and necessities. The bottle of wine exemplified the thoughtfulness of my host as they further looked after my bags when I needed a later check out time. I was attending a conference downtown and the location allowed me a safe, comfortable walk both to the conference and around the neighborhood. I have recommended the host to my friends and would personally never hesitate to stay again at this lovely little retreat. Thank you, Andrea
It's a tiny house but very charming. A big advantage is being able to walk to nearby restaurants and shops. All the fixtures are high quality, with original artwork on the walls. A bottle of wine awaited us. The bathroom is not off the bedroom, however. Also there is no stove but there is a convection hotplate and a microwave. Whole Foods and Publix are not far away. A coin-operated washer and dryer are available in the next yard.
Niedliches kleines Haus mit allem was man braucht, sehr gepflegt und geschmackvoll eingerichtet.
Andrea was very welcoming. Upon check-in we found a bottle of an excellent wine and a basket full of booklets, maps and magazines about the area. She stopped in briefly to welcome us and answer any questions we might have, but then left us to enjoy the house and environs.
She also provided a helpful binder full of info about the Frog House and its features and a list of local restaurants (of which there are many) and other attractions.
The Frog House is great. The bedroom--which is foreshortened in the pictures--is a good-sized room with a bureau, comfortable bed, full closet, ceiling fan and TV (one of two in the house.) It also has a pocket door to close it off from the other rooms. Lots of light in all the rooms. Quiet neighborhood.
The enclosed yard is completely private for reading or sunbathing or outdoor dinner.
We'd visited the Gillespie Park neighborhood the year before and loved it. As other reviewers note, it's a short walk to downtown and an even shorter walk to fun venues like the Blue Rooster--music 7 nights a week, no cover. It's centrally located for everything from beaches to the Ringling to Whole Foods.
We stayed for a month so we also signed up at the local YMCA gym which is about a 15 minute walk or short drive with free parking in the adjoining garage. Be sure also to check out the half-price downtown movies on Tuesdays all day in the movie house next door. First run movies for $6 at this writing (and free parking.)
If you are a runner, be sure to check out Payne Park (about 1 mile away) which has an unusual, exceptional 1/2 mile running track paved in fine gravel. (Also a circus-themed playground for children.)
Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I am a graduate of the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. I have run my family's gold award winning Americas Best Value Inn in Bradenton Florida for 20 years. I am passionate about revitalizing Downtown Sarasota and the historic Gillespie Park Neighborhood where I have lived and worked for over 10 years. My husband and I live with our spoiled rotten Vizlsa named Lucy. We love to walk Lucy and ride our bikes into downtown and out to the beach.
