The Space

Hi and welcome to one of the most central apartments available in London Town.
The apartment is prepared and looked after by friends of mine - between them they speak English, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. As I work away a lot, it is likely they will greet you at check in.
NOTE: prices start from £65/$105 - you need to check the calendar for the price applicable for the date you require. I HAVE TWO FLATS LISTED ON AIRBNB - IF YOU DO NOT FIND THE DATE YOU WANT, TRY THE OTHER FLAT - they are in the same block and appointed in an identical manner - listing Picadilly Circus in Central London or see under my other listing.
If you are wishing to book the apartment for one night only – see NOTE below. See also below for information about Check In and Check Out – this is important.
A booking for two guests is on the basis of linen for one double bed. If two of you require a bed each, then there is a one off additional charge of £12 to be paid on arrival.
Check in after 19.00 is charged at £10 per hour of part thereof - this is because I will have to pay the couple who look after the apartment to wait. .
The apartment is only 5-10 minutes’ walk away – The Mall, St. James’ Park, Green Park, Buckingham Palace, St. James’ Palace, Clarence House, Spencer House, the Houses of Parliament, the Royal Academy, the National Gallery, the White Cube Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery, Soho and China Town. The similar close proximity of Jermyn Street, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street and Bond Street makes shopping easy – no need for a train journey with lots of bags! Within a 500m radius, there are 15 theatres and 15 cinemas with numerous screens.
It is 50m from Piccadilly Tube Station - the Piccadilly Line is direct from Heathrow. Just 50m down Haymarket there are bus links to many parts of London and the main London Tour Bus Stop. Charring Cross, Embankment and Waterloo are just 10 minutes away.

With the cost of public transport in London at an all-time high, a central location is very important both in terms of money and time. If you decide to stay at No. 1, you will save a good deal in travel costs. An off peak day ticket (for use after 0930) on the London Underground (which stops running at midnight) is now £7.40 for Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4 and £8.50 if you are in Zones 5 or 6. Staying in an SW1 location would save a party of four at least £30 per day by not having the travel costs to get into town. You are already there.
This is a great place to have a holiday: spend your time where you want to be, not travelling miles to get there.

I am one of the few Airbnb hosts in Central London who will do a one night booking [entire apartment] – if you do want the place for one night only, there is an additional charge of £10 per bed [based on one bed or two beds] to be paid on arrival when you check in. This is in addition to what you pay Airbnb. This only applies to one night stays.
It is possible to leave luggage from 12 noon and check in is at 3pm. It is rarely possible to leave luggage before 12 noon. Check In after 3pm can be arranged. Very late check ins can be a problem.
Check out is 11am – LEAVING LUGAGE ON CHECK OUT DAY – as the flats are more or less booked out every day of the year, this can be VERY difficult and often quite impossible – as people are checking in there is simply no where to leave it. There are left luggage facilities at (i) Charing Cross Station [about 800m away] (ii) Kings Cross/St Pancras Staton and (iii) Paddington Station. It is about £8 per item. The people who look after my apartments can sometimes [but NOT always by any means] juggle things around so luggage can be left for a few hours after check out. However, it might mean that they has to stay around to wait for you to collect it [this would be in his own time] and so if they can arrange something for you, they may well ask for some payment for their time.
KEY to the apartment - due to insurance endorsements, I am only able to provide one key for the apartment.

Within 5-10 minutes walk you can reach:
• anywhere in Soho (Leicester Square, China Town, Old Compton Street, Carnaby Street, etc)
• Oxford Circus & Oxford Street (shopping area)
• Piccadilly Circus & Regent Street (shopping area)
• Bond Street (shopping area in Mayfair)
Within 10-20 minutes walk:
• Trafalgar Square & National Gallery
• Covent Garden
• St James' Park & Buckingham Palace
• Old Bond & Burlington Arcade
• Green Park & Hyde Park Corner
• Big Ben, Houses of Parliament & Westminster Abbey
• Thames River and The London Eye
There are numerous public transport options – the most cost effective way to travel is to purchase an Oyster card and catch a London bus (25 different routes), or get the London Underground excellent subway system. The nearest tube stations are:
• Oxford Circus (Central, Victoria and Bakerloo lines) is just 175 metres away
• Tottenham Court Road (Central and Northern lines) is just 400 metres
• Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines) is just 25 metres away
• Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly lines) 100 metres away and
• Covent Garden (Piccadilly line) 250 metres away

  • The 5-hour delay of the flight make a bad influence on both me and the landlord,and I didn't get a chance to live in the apartment.But Jonathan help us book a room near Govent Garden,and it's in good location as well I think.Thanks to Jonathan and sorry for the inconvenience.

    This is very fair and kind of Patrick who, due to a combination of factor,s I had to place in a hotel - which he indicates. What he does not say, and so I feel I should mention, is that I made all of the arrangements for the hotel, paid the bill, which was significantly greater than the Airbnb charges he had paid and paid for his taxis.
    I was happy to do this, as indeed I have done for a couple of other guests who were caught up with a problem at the building where my apartment is.
    Wherever possible if there has been a problem I have always offered my guests the choice of an alternative rather than just cancel.

  • Great apartment, cannot be more central, clean and quiet. Check-in went smoothly except that the sofa bed I had required twice before arrival was not ready. When we got back at 3am, pretty tired and not so sober, the sofa bed was still not ready, they had just placed the sheet on top (which were too small and didn't fit the bed). That's my only criticism, really - for 12£ the least they can do is have the bed ready for us.

    But again, great little central place and the advantage is that no one lives in this flat, it's a purely rental place so no personal stuff anywhere.

    The guest is mistaken - the apartment is lived in but I am fastidious in moving my stuff out of the way, which was no mean feat with this booking as it was last minute - about 12 hours notice.
    The bed spoken of was a sofa bed - so, it has to be pulled out and made up when required by the guest. To make it up for their arrival would be to anticipate that they do not need a sofa - and you cannot be certain of that.
    The guest left the place in great shape though.

  • Nuestra experiencia con el anfitrión ha sido muy positiva. Se mantuvo en contacto con nosotros todo el tiempo. Lamentablemente, el departamento que habíamos reservado sufrió un problema de tuberías, y la primer noche no estaba disponible, pero el anfitrión reservó habitaciones en un hotel muy bueno para nosotros mientras reparaban el desperfecto. Luego, fuimos al apartamento y estuvo todo perfecto. Muy completo, equipado, bien ubicado. Todo perfecto! La ubicación es inmejorable, y el departamento es tal como se ve en las fotos.

    Thank you for this review. As this guest points out, when there was a problem, at my own, I put his party of four into a hotel, so they still had somewhere to stay in the face of an emergency.
    This is in fact what I have done with some of the cancelled bookings you see here - that is - I have arranged alternative accommodation with other hosts or placed the guests in hotels.

  • Great location, everything as described, clean and tidy.
    But the lift didnt work for the 5 days and we had reach the fourth floor. The night is noisy because the street, although we slept good (tired??). You cannt open the windows and noone told us how to deal with the air con

    RECENT CANCELLATION - at the last minute the managing agent of the building decided to schedule some emergency repairs to the building. Very reluctantly I had to cancel a booking. Sadly there was no alternative - very regrettable.

  • Nous avons passés 6 nuits, fin avril, début mai à Londres dans cet appartement. Nous étions 5 : 3 adultes et 2 enfants de 8 et 10 ans. Tout s'est parfaitement bien passé. Nous avons été très bien accueillis, l'appartement était très propre. Il est tout à fait conforme aux photos, très lumineux. L'insonorisation est très (website hidden) position centrale dans Londres permet de rayonner facilement et sans perdre de temps vers tous les lieux touristiques. Une supérette se trouve à deux pas.C'est vraiment un appartement idéal pour visiter Londres en famille ou en couple.
    Le propriétaire est très serviable et répond à toutes vos questions rapidement.
    Bref, une adresse à retenir.

  • It was our first booking with airbnb and everything ran perfectly. From the beginning we got every Information we need. It was a nice and useful contact with Jonathan. The apartment was exactly what the description and the pictures show. It is in the heart of London and is ideal for the many sightseeing and shopping tours and night live. Everything is clean and tidy. We were three, but it can also be fourth. In kitchen, living room and bathroom you will find everything you need. We were very pleased and would book it again.
