The Lost Trail Powder House is a cozy, two-level cabin located just off Highway 93, about a mile south of the small community of Gibbonsville, ID. This property provides excellent access to winter recreation opportunities: just 15 miles away, Lost Trail Ski Area and Chief Joseph Pass offer great and affordable downhill skiing, groomed nordic trails, and snowmobiling. The nearby Salmon and North Fork Salmon River drainages are home to some of the best hunting and fishing in the northwest.

The space
The house itself has a spacious and cozy main floor with open living space, radiant in-floor heat, and a wood stove. From the living room, french doors open out onto a back porch with a swinging chair overlooking a grove of ponderosas and the North Fork of the Salmon River. Outdoor cooking options on the porch include a gas grill, charcoal grill, and smoker. The kitchen is large - lots of counter space, an island with a second sink, and an adjacent dining area. There is a king-size bed in the master bedroom and private bathroom. A spare bedroom with a queen bed and second full bathroom are both on the main floor. Laundry facilities are in a large mudroom perfect for stowing skis, boots, and other outdoor gear.

The second level of the house is a newly-finished upstairs loft apartment with a separate entrance and deck. This space has its own kitchen and full bathroom. The open floor plan includes a living space with a king-size bed and a day bed, along with a comfortable futon that can be made up to accommodate larger groups. Baseboard heaters provide the space with plenty of heat, and the wood fire heat on the main floor also helps to keep the loft warm. **This listing is for the entire house, but the upstairs apartment is also listed on AirBnB and can be rented on its own (sleeps 2-6).**

Both the upstairs and downstairs have large flatscreen TVs. The loft apartment has Netflix, and the 75-inch flat screen on the main floor is a Smart TV offering just about any streaming service you can think of. Fiber optic internet was recently installed in Gibbonsville, so despite our rural location, we have some of the fastest internet in the area. You will have no trouble streaming Planet Earth in HD while other members of your group get caught up on e-mail, it is pretty amazing. There is no cell service at the house, but the quality of the internet makes it easy to stay connected with wi-fi calling and texting (and other wi-fi only messaging services).

For groups larger than ten (or those that don't include couples and/or children), an air mattress and cots are available for your stay, just let us know so we can make sure you have what you need.
