The Space

Lovely and bright high-ceilinged bedroom with queen-sized bed, and small desk, with shared 1.5 baths in beautiful three-story row house.

Perfect historical neighborhood just steps from Whole Foods supermarket, and surrounded by the city's best gyms, restaurants, yoga, theaters, shops, bars, dry cleaners, banks, and parks. Close to all museums and attractions.

Guest Access

In addition to your private room, you will have access to the rest of this lovely home (excepting the master bedroom). The owner, a local pediatrician, travels frequently and may not be home during your stay, but Max the cat probably will be.

You will have access to living room with TV/Netflix/iTunes, wifi, deck, new kitchen, fireplace, and washer/dryer. A real home away from home.

Interaction with Guests

When I'm at home in DC, I'm sure I'll see the guest on a daily basis, but I always give them their own space, and of course their privacy. I am often away traveling -- in which case the guests have the house to themselves (plus Max the cat).

The Neighborhood

Logan Circle is a wonderful neighborhood to live in: a mix of history, culture, entertainment, architecture, and great food -- just steps from Whole Foods supermarket, Starbucks, and surrounded by the city's best gyms, restaurants, yoga, theaters, shops, bars, dry cleaners, banks, and parks.

This is one of the loveliest, safest, most convenient, and vibrant neighborhoods in Washington, and perfectly convenient for business trip or vacation: enjoy the city and its museums and sights without ever having to worry about driving or parking (though street parking is plentiful).

Unlike many other rentals in DC, this area is full of street life all day and in the evening, highly-rated restaurants, and attractions, many right across the street.

Rated by Walkscore as a walking/transport/biking "paradise" (the highest rating on all three).

Getting around

A public transport and walking paradise!

Easy walk to White House (20 min), K Street (10 min), U Street (10 min), Adams Morgan (25 min), World Bank (20 min), National Mall, monuments, and museums (30 min), embassies, parks.

10 minute walk to Dupont Metro (Red line) or U Street Metro (Green line). S1/S2/S3, G2, 52/53 buses all one block away. Capital Bikeshare station right across the street.

Reagan airport (DCA) 10 minutes by cab, 30 minutes by metro. Dulles (IAD) 45 minutes by cab or shuttle. BWI airport about 50 minutes drive.

Check In
  • Just had a really nice stay with Joel and Max the cat. Everything was exactly what I expected and the neighborhood was fantastic. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend it to people who are planning their first trip to DC.

  • Host was wonderful to deal with from beginning to end of the experience; prompt in initial reply, helpful and welcoming, and listing and surrounding neighborhood was even better than described. Very clean, great closet space, excellent work desk and lighting, spacious and quiet. (Also one of the most comfortable beds I've EVER slept in!). I would gladly return and would not hesitate to recommend to others. It really IS the PERFECT bedroom

  • Joel was an awesome host and the house was very comfortable and accommodating! The house was in an awesome location, in a safe neighborhood, and had plenty of restaurants and bars around. I essentially felt like I was visiting an old friend and crashing at his pad for a few days. Max the cat was a pleasure and I throughly enjoyed coming home to see him every night. Next time I am in DC I will hope to be able to stay at Joel's again. Thanks Joel!

  • This one really is in the best location: an interesting, safe and lively area in its own right and a great base from which to explore DC, I loved it.
Joel was very welcoming, well organised and helpful at all stages and made me feel really at home in his comfortable and relaxed home.
For family reasons, I had to cut short my stay a little and Joel could not have been kinder helping me to re-arrange things. He's a great host and his thoughtfulness and practical support was very much appreciated.

  • Joel is awesome! Stay with him in his beautiful house if you can :)

  • Joel was an exceptional host. Our trip was a spontaneous one; everything happened in a matter of a day. If it was not for Joel's fast response and ease of communication, the whole trip would have been a disaster. The room and the whole house was impeccably clean and full of natural light. The bad was very comfortable. Kitchen-living room with tastefully picked decor, personal library and the bottle of red so generously offered by Joel, made the late night conversation unforgettable. He knew much about Washington DC and loved it too, which made his advice priceless when it came to seeing and enjoying DC as much as humanly possible during a 2 days stay. I will be going back to DC soon, and I really hope the room will be available.
    Unforgettable experience
    Thank you, Joel.

  • Joel is a very friendly host who loves the neighborhood and was welcoming and gracious. A super walking location with lots of public transit. Very clean and comfortable room with a "real bed."

  • We had a very good time at Joel's place! The room was nice, the appartment clean and very conveniently located in a nice neighbourhood (less than 10 min walk to Dupont Circle - red and orange/blue metro stations, lots of restaurants, cafes and bookstores close-by).
If Joel is around during your stay, you will find that he is a very pleasant host who is very knowledgable about the area, DC and the world in general!
    Highly recommended!

  • It was really nice to stay with Joel. My room was large enough and bright, great bed with sweetest dreams ever after busy conference days :) I also enjoyed the company with his pet Max
