Interaction with Guests
When I'm at home in DC, I'm sure I'll see the guest on a daily basis, but I always give them their own space, and of course their privacy. I am often away traveling -- in which case the guests have the house to themselves (plus Max the cat).
Logan Circle is a wonderful neighborhood to live in or to visit: a mix of history, culture, entertainment, architecture, and great food -- just steps from Whole Foods supermarket, Starbucks, and surrounded by the city's best gyms, restaurants, yoga, theaters, shops, bars, dry cleaners, banks, and parks.
This is one of the loveliest, safest, most convenient, and vibrant neighborhoods in Washington, and perfectly convenient for business trip or vacation: enjoy the city and its museums and sights without ever having to worry about driving or parking (though street parking is plentiful).
Unlike many other rentals in DC, this area is full of street life all day and in the evening, highly-rated restaurants, and attractions, many right across the street.
Rated by Walkscore as a walking/transport/biking "paradise" (the highest rating on all three).
A public transport and walking paradise!
Easy walk to White House (20 min), K Street (10 min), U Street (10 min), Adams Morgan (25 min), World Bank (20 min), National Mall, monuments, and museums (30 min), embassies, parks.
10 minute walk to Dupont Metro (Red line) or U Street Metro (Green line). S1/S2/S3, G2, 52/53 buses all one block away. Capital Bikeshare station right across the street.
Reagan airport (DCA) 10 minutes by cab, 30 minutes by metro. Dulles (IAD) 45 minutes by cab or shuttle. BWI airport about 50 minutes drive.
No smoking, no guests, no pets, no parties, no drug use. No music or TV before 9am or after 10pm unless very low volume or with headphones. Guest is responsible for washing all dishes, glasses, utensils, etc that they use, and returning them to their proper place in the kitchen.
This is what AirBnB is all about; wonderful, thoughtful and (super) interesting host, a great place located in an awesome part of town. Thanks so much Joel, I will definitely be back!
Joel was super easy to communicate with and answered our initial request and any subsequent questions in less than 5 minutes making the booking and planning as easy as possible. Joel's home was exactly as described - in a nice, vibrant neighborhood, walking distance to Metro Center. The room was comfortable and quiet. Joel was extremely hospitable, interesting, and fun to chat with. He has a great patio for sitting out on of an evening. Although I'm not really a cat person, Max the cat was the perfect amount of friendly, and we had a nice time hanging out on the lovely patio.
This was my first experience with airbnb, and Joel made it easy and a great value - I'll be back again. I could not find a hotel in DC due to convention and school trip visitors, and am I lucky that I didn't. Joel's home is located in a great area of the city, close to everything - especially dozens of the best restaurants that the city has to offer (Le Diplomate, for example). Joel is happy to make sure his guests are taken care of, from meeting you at arrival and helping with luggage, to getting the right power cord for my MacBook (which I forgot to bring). The Room is spacious and with high ceilings, and there is access to the kitchen and living room areas. A Capital Bikeshare station is mere yards away (across 15th) and a Whole Foods not even one block away. Bonus: Max the Cat ---- I'm not a cat lover, but Max is a nice addition to the house and will play if you like or stay alone if you don't; in any case someone is home when you get back from a day out.
What a wonderful first experience on Airbnb! Joel responded quickly from the first time I inquired, and made me feel very comfortable. Everything was exactly as stated, down to Max the Cat (an inquisitive - but well-behaved - kitty) and his proclivity for going outside. The location is central; DC is made for walking and Logan Circle makes you want to. Joel has decorated beautifully and has managed to include all the "extras" that make packing less troublesome. Whole Foods being just around the corner was perfect! I would readily refer family and friends...and return myself. Thank you for a marvelous trip, and I hope that we can do this again...perhaps when the daughter completes her Clerkship!
Joel was a perfect host. His home is located in a very nice neighbourhood, both quiet and close to animated streets, also not far from the metro. Joel's advice on local restaurants is very valuable, and he also has guide books that can help you prepare your visits in or around Washington. Let's not forget Max, the funny and friendly house cat.
Joel was a kind and courteous host, offering great hospitality, but privacy as well. He's a wealth of information about the wonderful neighborhood and offers great guidance. Great place to stay as a tourist, but fine as a business traveler, too!
Lovely place and extremely convenient location. Max, the house cat, is one of the most friendly ball of fur I've ever met.
I would definitely recommend this place for a stay in DC.
