Bridge house Willemsbrug is located at just a stone's throw away from many of Amsterdam's must-sees. Central Station is only 9 minutes by bus and 20 minutes on foot.

The space
SWEETS hotel is a one-of-a-kind hotel dotted across Amsterdam in 28 different bridge houses, built along and on Amsterdam’s canals between 1673 and 2009, each one distinctively designed in the architectural style of its building period. Due to centralization of bridge control, the bridge houses lost their original purpose of working space for the city’s bridge keepers. SWEETS hotel reuses this industrial heritage by transforming the bridge houses, all connected by Amsterdam’s waterways, into stand-alone hotel suites with unique interiors, designed with the architectural history of the tiny building in mind.

Bridge house Willemsbrug was built in 1928 in the 'Amsterdam School' style, well-known amongst architecture lovers. Inside this local icon, you will find a cosy hotel room with everything you need, including a comfortable double bed, a bathroom, a pantry and a seating area in the large, original windowsills. All sorts of basics like towels, body wash, dishes, cutlery, coffee and tea are provided as well - feel free to use them!

On every second day of your stay, our housekeeping team drops by on electrical cargo bikes for a basic cleaning check and to supply fresh towels.

This little bridge house will be your own private space in the middle of the city! With 28 locations all across Amsterdam, SWEETS hotel operates on a self-service system (FLEXIPASS) for check-in. Save time and access your bridge house with your own smartphone, independently and at a flexible time! Instructions will be sent to you after your booking is made.

Other things to note
Please note that the bridge is still fully operational and might open and close during your stay. It is a unique experience to wave at the ships passing by, but be careful when going outside.

Because of safety regulations, the minimum age for guests to stay at SWEETS hotel is 21 years.

SWEETS hotel is a one-of-a-kind hotel located across Amsterdam in 28 different bridge houses. Each bridge house has been transformed into an independent hotel suite that accommodates a maximum of two guests. For centuries, Amsterdam’s bridge houses accommodated the city’s many bridge keepers who were responsible for opening the impressive structures for passing water traffic. With building dates between 1673 and 2009, the bridge houses carry an extensive history. Visiting them in chronological order is like a journey through time: their various architectural styles reveal how the city developed and grew, when new quarters were built and even how people thought about city development at that time. With the hotel room interiors, SWEETS hotel offers guests a unique and comfortable living space, while keeping the history of every bridge house in mind. All bridge houses are different, and so are the interiors. Every SWEET accommodates up to two adults and contains a kingsize double bed, a bathroom and coffee and tea facilities. SWEETS hotel, first initiated in 2012 as an urban space project, is 8 years in the making. Over half of the 28 bridge houses are currently available for reservations, with more coming soon. SWEETS hotel is an initiative and co-creation of the architecture office Space&Matter (known for De Ceuvel, an ecological hub), project development partner Grayfield and Suzanne Oxenaar and Otto Nan of Seven New Things, founders of Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy (the world’s first 1- to 5-star hotel) and Hotel The Exchange.
