Surfing / Walking;
The Gower Peninsula, Wales’ Premier surfing area is ideally located to receive swells generated by mid and South Atlantic low pressure systems. The rugged scenic coastline offers a wide variety of breaks – all with sheltered bays providing coves when smugglers rode in on 150 years ago. These bays have untold secrets for the dedicated surfer to find.
The local beach Llangennith Beach (Rhossili Bay) is the indicator beach for the Gower area. Llangennith picks up just about any swell hitting the South Wales coast. With three miles of beach Llangennith remains relatively uncrowded and is surfable at any stage of the tide.
There are three surf schools that operate on the local beach: Welsh Surfing Federation Surf School. For an up to the minute surf heck please use the web-cam at: Llangennith Surf Cam. For local board hire please visit PJ’s Surf Shop.
We only accept couples if possible, single people will be charged at £50 per night..
Steve & Pippa have a fun and laid back style which makes you feel welcome and puts you at ease. They were also very helpful in giving the local scoop on what and how to do what I was interested in. Llangennith is a very special place and Western house has a great location within it. It is 2 minutes from the local pub and a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) down to the north end of Rhossili beach where the surfing is renowned. The guest room I stayed in was not large but just right, the bathroom was large and colorful and they have a lovely private garden to relax in as well.
