About this listing
Adorable dollhouse in a charming village in the chardonnay foothills; can sleep 4 with a loft bedroom, sofabed in living rm , equipped kitchen, parking; rose garden; close to Auxerre, Chablis, Cistercian abbeys, vineyards, trails to hike, or bike..
Lovely cottage, sleeps 4, in a charming village in the foothills of chardonnay vineyards. An hour and a half south of Paris. Great base to visit Burgundy, Champagne, the eastern Loire. Area has nature, architecture, great food and wine and a slow pace. Virtually never overrun with tourists. We love guests and enjoy helping them discover all there is to do in Burgundy. We offer meals in addition to breakfast. (just let us know ahead of time) The cottage is great for a family of 4 or 2 couples who like each other as it is an open space - there is a 15euro charge in the cottage for additional persons (so a family of 4 is 130euros a night). There is a double bed in the loft and a queensize sofabed in the living room. Linens are furnished. Breakfast and meals served in the garden among roses and birdsong. There is a fully equipped kitchen as well as space heaters for the winter guests. You are 15 minutes away from Auxerre, with lots to see and do and a superb restaurant (Jardin Gourmand). You are also 15 minutes away from Chablis and wine tasting. Rates for the cottage are 100euros for 2 people, 115euros for 3 and 130euros for 4 people. There is a 20% discount for stays of 4 or more nights and a greater discount for weekly stays. There's a great restaurant a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Breakfast is included for bed and breakfast guest, but not for people staying more than 2 nights as there is a kitchen for guests to prepare meals, and a bottle of chardonnay comes with the cottage. Meals are 25euros a person with a bottle of wine. For housekeeping we ask that you leave 50euros before departure so we can clean for the next guests. For those staying for a while, you are welcome to use the washing machine for your clothes. We happily make picnics for you to take on your explorations. Hope to see you soon!
Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden, table and chairs for lounging reading or dining; Meals can be ordered 48 hours in advance. Village has an excellent restaurant 400 meters away.
Interaction with Guests
We are cheerfully available for any and all tour guidance - the dollhouse has tourism information and a library of books to be taken away. The host is generally on site to greet guests and to help as much as guests want.
charming small village nestled in a valley; nice walks through the vineyards and woods but we recommend you have a car so you can visit all the great places nearby.
There is a bus that you can reserve to go into Auxerre but we recommend you have a car or bikes.
Other Things to Note
The kitchen has coffee, tea, some spices, toasts, fruit juice, jam and a bottle of our famous chablis. The bath has soap, toiletries

No smoking, no shoes in the private bedroom in the main house, no pets.

Linda was a great host. She was present for us when we arrived, helped us find a restaurant that evening, and provided us with delicious croissants each morning. The apartment itself has a lot of personality and is very cozy. It's also in the center of this small town and a short driving distance from Chablis.
Be aware that the upstairs bed has a double boxspring under the queen mattress. I didn't know and fell off one night into the Brick wall. Also be aware that she will ask you to tidy up before leaving. We weren't aware of this either and had to rush that morning. Other than that it was a wonderful experience.
So sorry about the bed - wish someone had said something at the time, would have been helpful. I think AirBnB recommends that guests tidy up, we charge a cleaning fee for people staying longer than 2 days however, they did a great job of tidying and it was helpful for getting ready for the next guests.
Linda was very helpful and a joy to have as a neighbor for 2 days. We had a wonderful time! Such a cute place, 1 day is not enough.
This cottage is fine for a single night, or two at the most, as it is by nature somewhere you would stop at on the way to another destination. The greeting was warm, and we were provided with bread and croissants on the first morning of our stay.
Unfortunately, it is really only suitable for a couple or single guest, as the lounge, which doubles as a second bedroom, is damp and cold, and gets little natural light. We did not feel particularly welcome to use the table and chairs outside, which were not near the cottage but by the owner's section of the property - this could definitely be improved.
The owner seems to lack the most up to date knowledge of the local area, and the meager selection of books and maps of the area were either seriously out of date or inadequate for the price we were paying - particularly in relation to other examples of residences and guest houses advertised on airbnb.
Linda is a very charming and helpful person. The house is as it looks like: very idyl, cute and small. Linda lives in her house, next to this one, on the same premises. The village is really small, with not much stores, but the surroundings are beautiful, the town of Auxerre is really nice. We had a great and relaxing stay!
Charming converted farm house with loads of character. Had a very relaxing stay here at the start of our trip around France, perfect spot to recover from jet lag in a peaceful setting. Linda was lovely and very helpful as we orientated ourselves. Would stay again given the opportunity.
