About This Listing
Eric and Dympna live in a modern 3 storey beachfront guesthouse in the quaint and picturesque seaside village of Duncannon. The friendly village also has a working fishing harbour, and is built around a spectacular star shaped 16th century fort. The village has a couple of nice pubs which serve excellent food and are a great place to sit and relax after a day sightseeing.
Our uniquely situated home has 3 en-suite rooms for guests, each with large south facing windows giving exceptional views of the award winning beach and surrounding Waterford estuary. Your room is a very comfortable double ensuite. Your stay with us also includes a hearty Irish breakfast, which will be served to you while you take in the magnificent views from our breakfast room directly overlooking the beach.
The surrounding area is renown for outstanding natural beauty and has remained unspoiled, while still easily accessible to all major routes. Duncannon is 2 hours from Dublin or 45 mins from rosslare ferryport.
This place is truly underrated. The view is absolutely stunning and the walk to the beach is literally two minutes. The room is lovely and the bathroom was cute and welcoming. Not only do they offer a made-to-order breakfast, but they also have tea and coffee with cookies and tv availability at all times. Breakfast was delicious and the cookies were great too.
Dympna suggested that I go to two bars and both were excellent. One had a toasty fireplace and the other had live music, which was absolutely great! Eric provided lovely breakfast and always was helpful in using the kitchen. My only very small and minor feedback would be that I would have liked more interaction, but it was a Bed & Breakfast, not an airbnb. Regardless, I truly enjoyed my stay here.
What a lovely town and view even in the winter! We left with a full stomach and great pictures of the beach! You can see the light house at night and it is definitely worth the short drive to tour it during your stay. Unfortunately, the thing we remember the most is how uncomfortable the bed was; it felt like we were sleeping directly on metal springs and sounded like it too.
A conseiller, vraiment.
This was a beautiful bed and breakfast with stunning views with really great hosts, who used to be in the fishing industry and had lots of interesting local tales. We particularly loved having a welcome cup of tea and sitting at the south westerly facing window watching the beach and sunset. Hook Head was close by and a visit to the Norman lighthouse is a must. If we'd had more time we'd have loved to have taken in Loftus Hall Ireland's most haunted house. We also discovered there's a coastal path all around County Wexford now so there are endless beach walks. We loved staying here and hope to be back one day. Given all the lovely scenery 3-4 nights would be perfect. One other tip is make sure you ask for a room with a seaview as one of them faces to the back.
Dympna was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean and it was a good setup for a B&B. Her husband made a great breakfast the following morning and did it on our time schedule.
My first airbnb experience and it was wonderful. Dympna and her husband Eric have a beautiful place right on the beach with the most spectacular view you could imagine. The place was clean and spotless, food amazing and they were just so kind an attentive. Definitely recommend!
