The Space

Huge double bedroom with en-suite

We have a very attractive, light and airy bedroom in the attic of our Victorian House in Swansea, Wales. The room has lots of character, with wooden floors and exposed beams. It is a self-contained floor. Guests enter through the front door and go straight up the stairs to the room, which gives a considerable degree of privacy, peace and comfort. The room is for one or two adults only and we have no facilities for babies or children.

The room has a kingsize bed, sofa, TV, microwave, kettle, fridge and tea and coffee. There are four, inexpensive breakfast cafes within 2 minutes walk. (Sorry I don't do breakfast!) There is an ensuite shower room and excellent Wifi. Bedlinen and towels are provided. Central heating.

On road parking if you have a car, or public transport two minutes away if you don't.

We are in a great location. It is 5 minute walk to the beautiful, sandy beach and 10 minutes to the town centre. It's a 10 minute drive to Gower peninsula and some of the UK's best surfing beaches. It is a 2 minute walk to bars and restaurants: where you can get everything from a full Welsh breakfast to a Chinese, Indian, French or Middle Eastern dinner. There is a really good theatre 10 minutes walk. There is a water sports centre on the beach where you can learn kite surfing and paddle boarding. We are 1 minute from Wales's best ice cream parlour - Joe's - and fish and chips and pizza take aways.

We are about 15 minutes walk from Swansea Leisure Centre and the Marina and this is another area where there are plenty of cafes and bars and also the Dylan Thomas Theatre. This is also the site of the National Waterfront Museum.. There is a Boating Lake on the seafront and Crazy Golf. There are cycle paths along the seafront (National Cycle Path 43 on the seafront is a 5 minute walk) and you can hire a bike 2 minutes walk from our front door. We are also on the Wales coastal path, which now goes right around the country. There is also the lovely Singleton Park with it's ornamental gardens. We are 3 miles from the seaside resort of Mumbles - a bus ride away, but it's also possible to walk there, along the sea front. There is a bus stop just round the corner with buses to Gower peninsula, the hospital and the university.

  • Sue is an excellent hostess, the room is as described with all that we needed including privacy, a fridge and WIFI. Parking is easy , we virtually parked outside. The room was cosie and pleasantly decorated. Very good value as we did not have breakfast. We would have stayed longer if the room had been available.

  • Leading up to staying at Sue's place, communication was excellent and speedy.

On arrival, I was dreadfully late due to a number of traffic issues but Sue and her husband were very understanding and gracious, even helping me up with my luggage.

The room was exactly as portrayed, spacious, well equipped, comfortable and suited my requirements very well.

    Many thanks Sue

  • Sue's room is very nice, big, very tidy and confy, and with charm. I really enjoyed my stay there, especially because of Sue's kindness and understanding. I would definitely stay there again!

  • I liked having a room without the daily visits of maids. In this respect I felt the stay here offered more privacy than a hotel, where you often have to put all your things away before the mandatory daily cleaning. This also added to the sense of safety in terms of leaving one's belongings out while being away from the home. With this being the first time for me staying in a BNB home I was somewhat concerned about possible noise levels from the host family. However, I heard virtually no noise coming up from the floors below. In this respect the place was quieter than a hotel, where you often here the constant slamming of door at all hours of the night and early morning. Great place to stay and would definitely recommend it to others.

  • Sue's house is Swansea is absolutely beautiful, this room has everything you need for a great stay. She is a great host that gave us awesome recommendations and directions to where we wanted to go. Close to the beach and city center. A MUST stay if you're looking for a place in Swansea!

  • Bright, warm, comfortable and peaceful room. Good location near Brangwyn Hall and promenade. Lovely friendly hosts.

  • Nice quiet place in a very central location. It was about a 20-30 minute walk to Swansea University ... we were there to visit our daughter who is an exchange student. The house is also quite close to restaurants, the bus station and shopping. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, but we only saw them a few times during the eight days we stayed there. We had amazing weather (in March) for walking along the beach, which is only minutes away. It must be beautiful in the summer. We had a pleasant stay and would recommend to others.

  • We enjoyed a nice private attic room in a location close to some good restaurants. This is a bed-without-breakfast accommodation, but there was coffee and fridge in the en suite room and a cozy breakfast cafe 100 meters down the street. Sue helped us get settled, but we didn't see her again after that.

I'm a hypnotherapist married to a social worker. We have two well behaved dogs and do a lot of walking. We are relaxed and peaceful people who believe the best way of life is to 'live and let live'. I suppose we are sort of aging hippies...and we enjoy welcoming visitors to our home in this lovely part of the world. We like to meet people from all different countries, but you can be sure that we always respect guests' privacy!
