Bob and Alice are delightful hosts; we so enjoyed meeting them and learning about life on the Big Island. They are very knowledgeable about birding and astronomy, as well as other topics.
The lanai is wonderful with its incredibly beautiful view. In the morning we drank our coffee and ate breakfast on the lanai. At times we observed the 'io or Hawaiian hawk soaring above. In the evening we watched the sunset over the panoramic bay. Even in the middle of the night, we enjoyed the view from the lanai, seeing millions of stars including the Southern Cross.
We found the ohana itself to be very comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. It is located between two excellent snorkeling spots, Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay and Two-Step (next to Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau). In addition, a good grocery store is only about a 5-minute drive away.
We were very happy with this stay and hope to return again.
From beginning to end my experience with Alice and Bob was superb. It began with close communication as we sorted out if the property was a good fit for me. This communication continued from the time I reserved the space to the time I arrived. If communication is important to you then Alice and Bob are the "GO TO" hosts
I am so happy I picked the Captain Cook area for my week on the big isle. It is SO MUCH quieter than Kona. Of course if you prefer a lot a lot of hub bub tons of traffic and noise then choose Kona.
The location of this space is awesome for those seeking peace and quiet. It is accented by a sweeping view of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding
The unit itself is spacious and offers everything you could possibly need. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the unit as well. The lanai was also a strong point on which to hang out and take in the view. I must also thank Bob once again for helping me take my suitcase up the stairs to the place. I would still be dragging that thing up the stairs without Bob! BTW, parking is easy right out front.
Some final words about Alice and Bob: they are charming hosts and so much fun to be with. I'm sorry we couldn't spend more time hanging out. They also have a fabulous pet "Dusty".
This property and these hosts are highly recommended.
Alice and Bob were excellent hosts! Their ohana is bright, beautiful and the location couldn't be better for adventuring around big island. They accommodated and helped out with everything we inquired about. It was a delight to stay here.
Wonderful people. Beautiful Ohana. Amazing views (ocean, coffee farms, sunsets).
We enjoyed yet another stay with Bob and Alice in their lovely ohana. It's a perfect accommodation for us, clean and comfortable with panoramic views. We loved sitting on the veranda, basking in the morning sunlight as we sipped our coffees.
Of course, Bob and Alice themselves always add to the aloha spirit with their warm welcomes and attentive questions. Both are highly knowledgeable of the island and open to sharing ideas from great beaches for snorkeling to just right island eateries.
Since our daughter and family live in Captain Cook, we will surely return and hope the timing works out so we can stay again with our gracious island hosts, Bob and Alice.

Staying at Bob and Alice's place has been truly wonderfull! (Airbnb) paradise!
The appartment is clean, airy, decorated with love and offers everything you could possibly think of. And the view... Wow!
Going to sleep hearing the distant surf and waking up to the sound of the most amazing bird-species (make sure to check out the book which is on the bedside table!) was so relaxing. The birds are not the only animals to look out for. We also had great fun watching the geckos doing their gravity defying moves. Dusty the dog is awesome as well!
Now the appartment was great, but what made our stay even more memorable where Bob and Alice. They are such terrific hosts! So interested, welcoming, providing everything we didn't think of ourselves and sharing all their knowledge with us. To us it felt more like staying with family! Thanks so much!!
Ps: make sure to try the heavenly Lilikoi cheesecake at "Coffeeshack", which is only 3km away from the appartment. Bob recommended it to us and we had it 3 of the 4 days we were on the island! Thanks Bob ;)

We are Bob and Alice. We have been wintering on the Island of Hawaii for many years and now retired, we decided to buy a house and move here full time. We made the move two years ago and are enjoying life on the island. We are located near beaches and snorkeling places. We are near to Kailua-Kona also. There are good restaurants near by, Annies is one of our favorites. We also really like Jackie Reyes, also quite near. If anyone likes parasailing, the local launcing spot is just above us so we watch them gliding by nearly every day. We have a good view of the ocean and along the coast looking south. We see the City of Refuge, Honaunau National Park and part of Kealakakua Bay. We'd be happy to help you to know what is going on around the island and where to find what. We look forward to meeting you. Aloha
