This extremely rare 5000 sqft loft is the epitome of Brooklyn living. Huge open living/ dinning space with massive communal table, exposed brick and a wall of windows. Centrally located on a quiet street with easy access to the subway.
'BOUT THE SPACE ITSELF:
This (464m²/ 5000 sqft) comfortably decorated loft is located 20 minutes from Manhattan in my favorite Brooklyn Neighborhood, Clinton Hill / Fort Greene. The large (homemade) dining room table comfortably seats 25 and works great for dinner parties, brunches, 3 simultaneous scrabble games, all sorts of craft projects and my personal favorite (a sewing table). Lofts of this size are extremely rare find in New York. Converted from a former piano factory, the space still contains many of its original details and is the epitome of old school Brooklyn. From its original pane windows in the hallway to the squeaky hardwood floors, the character lies in its imperfections. The super spacious open plan kitchen and living room provides the perfect opportunity for larger traveling groups to spread out in a city of close quarters.
The 5 bedroom loft sleeps up to 8 people comfortably. Five of the rooms have queen size beds, one room has a set of twin beds. PLEASE NOTE: In order to comply with the New York City regulations I only rent the out the loft in its+ entirety (all 5 rooms) for stays longer than 30 days. Usually when I’m traveling on business to Cape Town, SA. This option functions great as a live/ work space for share economy, start up companies or any group living/working in New York for a bit. Airbnb corporate has rented the loft for 8 weeks while they worked on a project in New York city. Having enough space to house their employees while also using the space to work was a huge convenience and economically savvy.
Groups wanting to stay for less than 30 day are of course welcome. However in this scenario the loft is shared with myself as a on premise host. This is my personal home which I live in and share with individuals travelers, groups and creative companies alike. I’m a collaboration junkie and a share economy super user. So I’m open to creative ways of sharing my space and I like to be involved with the people I share or rent my space to. My home also serves as a community hub, I am part of an online community farmer's market called Farmigo (feel free to look them up), every Monday neighbors and friends stops by to pick up their produce fresh from the farm and socialize over delicious (website hidden)-working days are hosted here through SpareChair on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11am to 7pm where freelancers, artist, anyone who is not desk bound comes to work on their craft.
Please message me to chat about how you’d like to use the loft and tell me more about yourself.
For all Events or non-accommodation inquiries, please refer to this listing for more info www.airbnb.com/rooms/3552043
Unfortunately due to noise constraints and in consideration of my neighbors the space is not suitable for weddings, DJ parties, Birthday parties, General parties/ large group gatherings, baby/wedding showers or dance classes.
Because of the size of the loft, communal table and open kitchen this is an incredible space for certain types of events. However it does have limitations. Through experience I’ve found the best uses for the space are as follows: (Although I’m always open to creative requests so please write me if you’d like to discuss a particular way you’d like to use the loft.)
Creative Corporate day retreats/ training or focus groups (Skillshare has been one of our favorites, they host clever day retreats here)
Classes, Day trainings or Workshops
For film/ photo shoots
- Washer and dryer in the loft
- Air Conditioning
-Central and portable electric heater
- Film projector in the main lounge which connects to most laptops is used in lieu of TV

We had an amazing experience at Shell's loft. She and her assistance Cass were really nice to us and helped us on our needs. It's hard to describe the space, it's really HUGE. The loft is well decorated and warm in our stay during winter. We'll definitely consider to go back in our upcoming trips.
Communication was smooth and fast and everything went well with our stay. Cass and Shell made us feel welcome and sufficent information about the flat and surroundings was given. Shell is a positive person and gladly share knowlegde about the area/NY. We`d easily return to this flat in the future.
Shell's loft is an amazing space. You really have to see it to understand. We had a group of 9 of us heading over and it comfortable slept all of us. The kitchen is well equipped and perfect if you want to make dinner for a large group. The neighbourhood is great - surrounded by tree lined streets and only a short walk to the G or C trains to take you into Manhattan. Shell is a laid back and welcoming host and we all got along great with her. If you have a large group (or even a small one) I would highly recommend staying here - I know we will be any time we're back in NYC.
Great communications throughout the rental arrangements and our stay. The host's representative met our party at the Loft and oriented us as needed. The Loft was even better than we anticipated - photos alone cannot convey the comfort, size, flexibility and usability of the Loft. Our family gathered from across the country for a week, and it was very comfortable for 3+ generations to hang out as we desired.
The loft was beautiful - just as pictured. Shell and her assistant were quick to respond, flexible and accommodating. The neighborhood is up and coming with lots to do and see. Shell provided an extensive list of places to visit, directions to/from airports and other really helpful information. I'd definitely book again.
Shell’s loft is one of a kind, and the perfect place to host events that need to feel like experiences…
A month ago, I was searching over all of New York for a space that could creatively accommodate a 2-day team retreat and strategy workshop with a prestigious nonprofit client. As part of our work, we needed a large, fully-stocked kitchen to cook with 8 people, a large table to enjoy the food together, and a space that felt both comfortable and professional so we could work efficiently throughout the day. It needed to have a lot of natural light and look beautiful in photos. It felt like an impossible task since so many places were too small or felt too much like someone’s personal home.
Shell’s loft was the perfect find, and every person that came into the loft was overwhelmed by how large and accommodating the space was for us, without losing any charm or homey-ness. We will definitely use this space again for future New York projects.
Some things worth sharing (that I know I would have loved to have read before booking):
- The kitchen and pantry are fully stocked with pots, pans, supplies, and anything you need. Kitchenaid, hand mixers, Vitamix, blender, pans, plates, serving platters, pitchers, etc. You could cook and host a beautiful party here.
- There is a dishwasher and laundry, with all of the cleaning supplies for keeping the loft running.
- The large windows open and there’s a fresh breeze, a rare find for lofts!
- The space is very modular, and we utilized/moved furniture around to create 5 different working areas, but there could have definitely been more. Having this became such a bonus for keeping things exciting during the day as we moved from strategy to cooking to eating, etc.

As a textile and design junkie with a knack for repurposing old furniture and a passion for sharing resources and living communally, this loft seemed the perfect space to call home. In the nearly five years I’ve been living here, this space has allowed me to play host to many amazing, interesting, loving and generous people from around the world. Because of its size and layout it has granted me many opportunities to host creative and community events. I like to cook, love to eat and love love love a great dinner party or an all day marathon Sunday brunch (which have become quite popular around here). Opening my loft to be shared with travelers who become friends has been the most positively life altering decision I’ve ever made. With each ephemeral shared experience my faith in the positive power of living in/ with community is exponentially affirmed. As characters in a great novel, each guest who stays seems to unfold a little more of the story. I cannot ask for a better life.
