About this listing
I have a comfortable and spacious three bedroom house with elegant hardwoods throughout available for short stay rentals. The house is a classic 1920's bungalow with plenty of built-in storage, your own designated and reliable wifi network, a wood-burning fireplace, secluded back yard with a multi-variety bamboo hedge for privacy, laundry, dishwasher, a well equipped, foodie-friendly kitchen, updated bathroom, a long driveway for off-street parking, and a covered back patio dining space set-up with a large BBQ.
The upstairs is quiet and nicely insulated from downstairs sounds. There are two upstairs bedrooms plus two exterior closets. The west guest room is newly furnished with a firm queen-sized bed and nightstands on each side. The east guest room is furnished with a desk and chair, floor lamp, oodles of empty built-in shelving and drawers for storage as well as a futon couch which folds out into a full / double-sized bed and is topped with a new memory foam pad for added comfort. The master bedroom is on the main floor, has built-in closets, and is conveniently situated right next to the bathroom.
Included on each morning of your stay is a self-serve breakfast. Before you arrive I'll typically stock the kitchen with fresh organic apples and bananas, an assortment of cold cereals (also mostly organic or natural brands), oatmeal, coffee and a variety of teas (green, black, & herbal). Sometimes there will also be juice or eggs and toast makings.
The house has a great location on North Ainsworth street between I-5 and Interstate avenue in North Portland. Outside of rush hour it takes only about 6 minutes to drive downtown. There is a New Seasons market and a stop for the yellow line Max train just 3 blocks away. New Seasons is like a smaller and more localized Whole Foods with better prices. The max train will whisk you downtown in about 13 minutes or north to the Portland Exposition Center in less time. A few blocks east is the gorgeous and historic Peninsula Park. Also nearby are bustling Mississippi and Alberta streets, the new Killingsworth food cart pod, and P.C.C.'s Cascade campus. Within a mile or two are also the University of Portland, Adidas North America headquarters, and Legacy Emmanuel Hospital.
You can take the Max train from my house to the airport for about $2.50 and without having to go downtown.
The house is able to sleep quite a few people but since there is just one bathroom i don't recommend parties larger than 5 or 6.
Guests traveling on business or in Portland for a wedding or other formal events will be glad to know that you'll have access to an iron, ironing board, two hair dryers, and two full length mirrors.
I have lived in this house for over ten years and feel i know the neighborhood and Portland in general quite well. Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you to help make your visit a grand one. Thanks for looking.
At this point in time the house is not set up to accommodate any pets or rambunctious children. Immobile infants are just fine but please let me know the total number of people coming.
I have a strict policy against candles or indoor smoking of any kind. Smoking on the front porch or back patio is fine and i do have an outdoor ashtray.
I aim to keep the house a mostly shoe-free zone. Please bring some comfortable slippers for your stay. This is my preference, especially in the wet season, but is not a deal-breaker for me should you need shoes for back support or something of that nature. Most of the floors are hardwoods so if a person does need to use shoes i ask that the soles be metal-free (no steel-toed boots, spiked heels, etc) and that in any case wet shoes be left at the door. Thanks for working with me on this. I think you'll find that the house stays cleaner for you to enjoy during your stay as well.
Please lock the exterior doors behind you when coming and going.
Unless previously arranged with me people outside of the reservation count are not allowed inside of the house.
My cleaning fee is not exorbitant so please be kind and leave the place in similar condition to the way you found it. Don't worry about emptying trash or taking linens off the beds when you go, I'll take care of that, but it would be great if you could clean up spills or messes as they happen, and please wash all surfaces of any kitchenware used with hot soapy water. Thank you.
Enjoy your time here!
The house is great and situated well in Portland. We had a car so we were able to get to many different neighbourhoods quickly but there is a tram line a few blocks away. Abraham was great and gave us a great walk through on arrival along with some suggestions for restaurants and places to see. Honestly, we were out most of the time but the beds were fine and the house had more than we needed for our quick stay. Thanks Abraham for sharing your lovely home!
Abraham's description was accurate and he is a very good host. We enjoyed our stay in Portland and would like to return some day. Portland was in the midst of extremely hot weather. The house could get quite warm, but with fans we survived and slept well. Abraham, also provides a wealth of information about Portland. We found it to be very helpful.
Abraham was extremely good to us. We stayed at his place during the hottest week of the year and he regularly called to check in on us to make sure we were comfortable. He even checked in half way through the week to see if we needed any more breakfast food. Probably the best host we have ever had with AirBNB.
The house was perfect for us. We have two small boys (a 2 year old and a 1 year old) and they were able to play everywhere without us worrying they were going to break something or hurt themselves. The main level is very open and spacious and the bathroom is very clean and well stocked. The two upstairs bedrooms were better than expected too. My mother in law stayed in one while our boys stayed in the other. Both upstairs rooms are big and provide plenty of room to spread out.
The location is awesome too. There is an absolutely stunning park (Peninsula Park) just a couple blocks away with a huge rose garden, playgrounds and splash pads. We were there every single day with the heat wave that came through! There is also a nice cheap grocery store (New Seasons) right around the corner with a great coffee shop across the street.
Cant wait to book Abrahams house next year!
Our experience from start to finish at Abraham's charming home was stellar. Abraham's welcome was warm, informative, and thorough. We had already read the many positive reviews and quickly understood why his host comments were so positive. Besides his personal recommendations, there are many resources in the home to peruse if you are new to the Portland area like us. This is a safe neighborhood for pleasant walks and nearby shopping. A special bonus was the Rose Garden which was in peak bloom at that time of our visit. It is just a few blocks from Abraham's. All in all Abraham's home was a perfect and convenient location to explore the many Portland offerings and a cozy retreat to end our busy days there. We would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time staying in Abraham's charming bungalow! It was spacious for four people, and had all of the amenities for a comfortable stay. Abraham was a very attentive host. He was prompt in responding to all of my messages. Although we didn't meet him face to face due to a very late arrival, his check-in instructions were very thorough and helpful, and he gave us his number for phone calls/texts. The fruits and other breakfast items that he left for us was a sweet gesture too.
Abraham was a terrific host and we felt very welcome during our stay. It's so nice to have breakfast items and coffee ready for us. He was extremely great at communicating and being overly accommodating. The location was a new one for us in Portland, but we ended up loving the area (ie Mississippi District) and spent lots of time there. Sorry we didn't get to meet in person, but here's to next time!
Abraham met us at the appointed time and showed us around the house so that we could make ourselves right at home. He had lots of Portland tourist material, and, although I know the city fairly well, it made me wish I had lots more time to explore. The house is comfortable and it was perfect for a mini-family reunion. We felt like we were at home and could have relaxed quite nicely there if there weren't so many reasons to get out and about. The location was great for us. We walked to the New Seasons market and all the restaurants and other city activities were easy to get to. The breakfast was just as we'd asked for and altogether, we really appreciated his generosity in opening up his home. Great time!
