Top Floor Sathorn 1 BKK Homestay

House - Private room · Soi Si Bamphen, Sathon 1, Thung Maha Mek, Sathon, Bangkok, Bangkok, Bangkok 10120, Thailand

I offer the best budget accommodations in the heart of Bangkok, on a quiet side street in the Sathon district, just minutes from the subway, Silom and Lumpini Park. If you want to be in the center of things, HomeStay is what you are looking for.

The Space

A spacious and fully furnished room with air conditioning in the heart of Bangkok, in the Sathon/Silom Central Business District, near the Lumpini subway station.
The large window overlooks a quiet side street. The room is bright and has a Thai-style parquet floor. There is also a shared bathroom on each floor of the house.
Our building compares to a 1 star hotel or youth hostel. You will get a private room for the price of a hostel dormitory, with the following services included:
- Common guest room and outdoor seating area
- Free Wifi
- Free short term luggage storage
- Intelligent and friendly neighbors
- Laundry service (for an additional modest fee)
- Shared bathroom for the each floor

We are located about 5 minutes from the MRT subway’s Lumpini station, and one subway stop from the BTS Skytrain’s Sala Daeng station.
We are near to day and night markets, nightlife, Lumpini Boxing Stadium and Sathon and Silom business areas. Lumpini Park, one of the most beautiful parks of Bangkok, is nearby. Our neighborhood is full of Thai and western restaurants, and street food stalls where you can eat for $1-2 US. There are many massage shops and spas to relax and pamper you.
The house is definitely located in one of the most convenient parts of Bangkok
Our rooms are non-smoking, but there is a smoking area available in front of the house.
Feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions.
A few notes in response to feedback from my guests:
- The room is on the 6th floor of 6 floor of a Thai townhouse, if you prefer rooms on the 1st-2nd floor feel free to drop me a message i have some.

Interaction with Guests

Airbnb guests are important part of my life. I am available to provide any useful information. I respect privacy of my guests as well so I try not to be annoying, but I am around in case you need something. I permanently live in the house on the second floor with my dogs.
Normally I am available (not 100% busy) from 10am-12pm and 5-8 pm.

The Neighborhood

We are in the true center of the city. The Sathon area, like the Sukhumvit area, provides such real Thai pearls as food-courts and delicious street food for $1-2 US per meal, authentic traditional Thai massage and a local, not 100% westernized friendly lifestyle.
It is easy and fast to access Silom Road and Sukhumvit Road as well by metro/motorcycle taxi $1-2 US per trip.
Sathon area has a really rich infrastructure which can make your stay as comfortable as you can get in a 5 star hotel for a lot less money.
And of course if you stay weekly you can enjoy the most beautiful Lumpini Park with free yoga, tai chi, aerobics, and jogging. Or you can rent a bicycle to ride in the park or explore the city streets.
I definitely recommend these experiences for my guests:
- Morning and evening Thai food courts
- Massage, yoga classes, traditional Chinese medicine clinics
- Weekend markets and Silom night market
- Temples, riverside view and Chinatown
- The Rooftop bar at the Banyan Tree hotel
- Nightlife and bars
- Go-go and adult shows
- Saunas

Getting around

How to reach us from Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)
By taxi (approximate price 350-450 baht)
The Public Taxi counter is located on Level 1. Expect to pay the metered taxi fare (approximately 200-300 baht), plus an additional 50 baht airport surcharge, plus 100 baht tollway fees. If you are in heavy traffic on the tollway, the meter fare will be higher.
NB! PLEASE in case you take taxi - don’t expect taxi driver to find the place by address (they don’t know addresses, they don’t speak English and even Thai, they don’t like to read maps; good side is that it is safe and cheap). The way to deal with taxi is to show him directions manually like “Here is u-turn; here you stop etc.”
TIP “How to make the taxi driver use meter”: If driver tells “No meter” you just tell “STOP” and take the other taxi (it is plenty of them), 80% of the drivers will turn on meter immediately.
+ in detail
On Level 1 of the airport there is a special Public Taxi counter for pickup by taxis (there are signs inside the airport building). If you arrive on an international flight, you will have to go down one level, then exit the building to find the Public Taxi stand.
At the counter you will be asked for the address of your destination. You can just show a map (we have one which I provide on the web site). They will choose a driver for you and give you a receipt (this means you have to pay the driver 50 baht extra airport charge). Follow the driver to your taxi. Every taxi has a meter, a special machine which counts how much you have to pay at the end of the trip. It is located in the center of the dashboard. If the taxi driver doesn’t turn it on, just say “meter” to remind him. If he says it is broken, or tries to negotiate a flat fee, insist on the meter. It is illegal for him to not use the meter. On the way to the center of Bangkok the taxi passes 2 toll booths for which you have to pay (totally (phone number hidden) baht). At the end of the trip the taxi meter will show you how much you should pay. Add 50 baht for the airport charge. A tip is not required, but If you want to tip the driver the usual tip size is 20-50 baht.
You should tell the taxi driver that you are going to Malaysia Hotel at Sathon Soi 1 (pronounced “sataown”), it is the only place around taxi drivers usually know

HomeStay is not far from Malaysia and Ibis Sathon Hotels.
There is a 7-11 store in front of Ibis Sathon Hotel. Soi Sri Bumphen starts there and goes between 7-11 and the Ibis Sathon Hotel. Walk on the right side of Soi Sri Bumphen. Pass a purple bank, some cafes and massage shops, one very small street on the right which you have to ignore, then and old empty hotel, a pharmacy, then Kenny Bar/Family Restaurant, just across from Trajai Steak House. You will see an orange sign pointing to Lido restaurant. Turn right, and we are just past Lido. You can check among room pics for local map. I have 12 photos explaining the surroundings.
Total distance between Malaysia/Ibis Sathon Hotel and our street is 100 meters, so you can reach it in 3-5 minutes, if you walk more – turn back.
HomeStay has 6 floors and looks like Thai town-house. There is a red sign that says "Bedrooms for rent 300-700B".
If there is any problem finding the place, please give me a call from the 7-11 across from the Ibis Sathon Hotel, and I will meet you there.

  • Evan is a very nice host, easy-going and very accesible to solve any question one can have. The place is clean and well located, near shops, restaurants and 10 minutes walking from a MTS station, so it's very convenient for visiting different places in the city. We stayed here before and now we returned as it's an excellent place to stay to discover Bangkok.

  • How can I describe the experience in Bangkok in Mark's place: we could not expect anything better !!!!
The apartment is amazing, the welcoming was perfect (excellent communication, quick answer to our last minute questions about arrival, etc.), location of the apartment is in a nice and quiet but lively area of the city… that was just amazing ! We do recommend sincerely this place ! :) Thanks again and hope to see you soon !!

    December 2013
  • Amazing room, very comfortable place. A lot of shops and restaurants near guest house. Great!
    Very funny pets in hotel)))

    December 2013
  • The room I got was on the topmost floor. It was a bit of a climb but it wasn't too bad because the room was quiet and spacious (compared to the other rooms, I think). Had to go down to the lower floor for the shared bathroom though. The nearest train station was just a few minutes walk from the hostel so it was pretty easy to get around. Evan was a great host, gave tips on where to go and which transportation to take... He even helped me when I lost my wallet. :) Would definitely stay here again!

    December 2013
  • The room was perfect for our stay and the area was chill! The Lumpini Park nearby is a cool park which offered a lot of nice street food. Nice host. Recommended!

    December 2013
  • Evan is a very lovely and helpfull Host!! The room was as he discribed, Simple Good :) we felt home already After the First Night, because he gave us the feeling to be home! Thank u so much, namaste !

    November 2013
  • We stayed at Evan's hostel for 3 nights! The location is great with lots of shops, restaurants around. The room has all you need and is very clean. The bed is huge and the mattress is very comfy. We misunderstood that this was a room in a hostel/ hotel, not really a 'homestay' room. As long as you know this and you are ready to climb 6 floors to get to your room, I recommend to stay at Evan's as it's good value for money.
