About this listing
We have a very unique little single unit cabin on our property in Silver lake, it has a log cabin feel. When inside, you feel as if you were in Big Sur or some other remote, mountainous location, until you step out onto the back porch and see the view of all Hollywood, the hills, the sign, Griffith Park observatory, and all the way out to the coast, THEN you're reminded where you are.
We have built a little kitchenette with a hot plate, refrigerator, electric kettle with assorted teas and coffee, it's the perfect size for preparing simple meals.
There is a private bathroom which we've just outfitted with imported moroccan tiles.
There is a private entrance for guests, the cabin is separated from the main house by a walkway, it's very private, but only a few feet from house. Your back deck is connected to our back deck by a small staircase.
There is internet.
Convenient street parking.
There is a television with a wide variety of dvds, however we do not offer cable TV.
We are located right on the border of Echo Park and Silver lake, so we are smack in the middle of downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. A stones throw from Los Feliz, a 5 minute walk to shops and delicious eateries and a 1 minute drive to get on the 101 freeway, so by car, just a couple minutes to downtown and hollywood (traffic permitting).
My wife and I both work in entertainment and the property is very conducive to that type of living, the house has always been inhabited by artists, musicians, filmmakers etc.
I have spent the majority of my life traveling in and around foreign countries, and when we have time off from work that's exactly what we do. I've been a guest a hundred times, and hosted people hundreds of times.
This neighborhood is very very unique, it's hip and eclectic and filled with culture, exactly the kind of place you'd want to see if visiting here for the 1st or the 20th time, it's not a neighborhood that a tour bus will bring you to (not yet anyway), just lots of young people doing lots of interesting things. It's a busy place, very productive, there's always a new gallery opening, a new restaurant opening, new bars, movies filming etc.
I have lived in LA for almost 13 years and there's no other neighborhood I'd live in.
Thanks to Brian Ferry for the wonderful pics of our place (website hidden)
No getting weird.
Charming, breezy little cabin in the Echo Park hills, with tasteful, well-considered details all throughout... I agree with another recent reviewer that this is ideal for the lone traveler and "romantic for two." A wonderful home base from which to explore Echo Park (a leisurely 30-minute walk from Sunset Boulevard's main stretch), Silverlake and LA's Eastside.
The hosts were helpful, accommodating, and never-ever intrusive.
We enjoyed staying at Patrick and Danielle's private and charming cabin. It was everything they described and the pictures are an accurate representation of the beauty of the views and the warmth and charm of the cabin. Very quiet and lovely neighborhood which made it easy for me to take a morning walk. A nice place to stay while getting to see many sights in LA and surrounding towns. Cabin was very clean and welcoming. Very comfortable. Very nice touches that really added charm to the stay. Also Patrick provided us with a great list of good eateries in the area.
We had a lovely stay in this cute little cabin. It's beautifully decorated and the outlook from the back deck is just gorgeous - it felt like a little sanctuary in a big city. Patrick & Danielle were so hospitable and friendly - they made us feel right at home. Thanks so much for having us!
A nice and cosy cabin with a great atmosphere and a nice view of Los Angeles. Patrick knows very well the right places to eat! A great experience!
Patrick and Danielle's place is ideal for one person, romantic for two; I totally recommend it. Although they live next door they do not intrude at all on your privacy. The space is rustic but elegant; a converted garage but they have great taste which I appreciated. The location in Silver Lake is quiet for sleeping but close to everything you need on Sunset, from coffee to booze, food and shopping. Basically it's like having a cabin in the city. Recommend.
The listing description was accurate and the location was perfect for exploring Silverlake and Echo Park. The backyard offer some stunning views. This is really a unique spot. Though parking is not included, we never had a problem parking on the street. We would highly recommend this property!
