Having said all of that, we do want you to "make yourself at home" and let us know whether we need to tweak anything.
Enjoy interaction, but also require respect for time evenings to finish computer work and free reading.
I have lived on this street 11 years and I know, interact and love my neighbors, most of whom are longterm residents,so we "look" out after each other. It is also quiet and safe.
The CH buses are free and travel to CH, Carrboro and Hillsboro. The Triangle Transit bus fare is $2/ride and goes to RDU airport, Durham and Raleigh w/ limited coverage on Sunday.
This place is wonderful. If you are looking for an accomodation with high quality, feeling like at home and finding new friends, this one is the indicated. Ruth is a person, who takes care not only of her bussinnes, but of her guests: I really felt like a part of her family!. If you love dogs, you are going to love "Schatz".
Both Ruth and her home were as warm and accommodating as could be. Though I was very busy and did not spend a lot of time there, what time I did spend was a total delight! The big friendly dog and the cozy fireplace both made me not want to leave. The location is great - I did not have a car and was picked up to go greater distances, but I easily walked to Whole Foods, Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen (tip: you can order without a car! There's a little door next to the window where you can order at a counter) and the lovely Cafe Driade. I hope to stay there again sometime soon! Thank you, Ruth!
Ruth was immediately kind and inviting -- she put me at ease with a hot cup of tea and conversation by the wood burning stove in the evenings. The room was clean and quiet, and I slept quite well. My first time using airbnb, and it did not disappoint! I will happily return to stay with Ruth if I'm ever again in chapel hill..
Ruth and her home were absolutely wonderful. You feel an immediate sense of warmth and peace upon entering. She was very accommodating with my late schedule and even offered coffee in the mornings. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
This was my first time using AirBnB and really enjoyed how helpful and friendly Ruth was. She made me feel like a member of her family.
When I arrived she showed me my room and where I could find my way around to other rooms in her house. Right away she put me at ease and let me settle into my evening routine. It was so nice sitting near the fire in her livingroom. Since I am an early riser I enjoyed a quiet night of restful sleep. I will definitely want to return when in the area. Ruth was a wonderful host.
I felt very welcome in Ruth's home. I was here for a quick weekend visit to attend a friend's wedding. My hours were late - arrived on Friday night after midnight to check in and returned from the reception on Saturday night after 2:30 am, and in neither case was that a problem. The house was quiet and I felt right at home. The location was excellent - less than 10 minutes drive to central Chapel Hill and about 20 minutes from RDU airport. I will definitely plan to stay here again if I am in the area.
Ruth is a very gracious and engaging host in a quiet home in Chapel Hill. Her living room is large and inviting and has a decorative fireplace. Guests at her place are given full access to the living room and kitchen and can read from her vast supply of books.
Ruth enjoys chatting with her guests and is genuinely interested in helping them with logistics during their stay, such as transportation to and from the airport. There are many familiar stores and restaurants within walking distance of Ruth's place, including Starbucks, Trader Joe's, Bruegger's Bagels, Subway, TCBY and Whole Foods.
Short or long stays are welcomed and Ruth responds quickly to booking requests and other questions. I recommend booking with Ruth.
I had a wonderful, relaxing and productive time in Chapel Hill. Ruth made my stay peaceful with her warm home environment. I felt so welcomed around the house and she was very helpful in finding out the transportation system around town. I had no problem getting around w/o a car. I will definitely recommend Ruth as a host don't be surprised if you make a friend after your stay. At the end of my stay I really felt like I had stayed with family.
It was very affordable. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of extra blankets. I was impressed that there was an iron and ironing board, but disappointed not to have an alarm clock or tissues (not even in the bathroom, I had to get some). It was a full house. She had 3 or 4 other guests, I wore earplugs to drown out their voices and snoring. They were not very loud but the rooms are all next to each other and the floor a bit creaky. The room was mostly clean, somewhat dusty and a couple cobwebs, which bothered my allergies as well as the dog whose hair was all over my sox just walking to the bathroom across the hall. With that said I would stay there again because of the price, the location, and Ruth seemed very friendly and trustworthy.
My stay at Chapel Hill with Ruth was planned as a time to rest and reflect. Ruth was very accommodating and pointed out nature trails and interesting reading material. Each morning, she had a pot of coffee waiting for me, assorted cereals in the cupboard and an offer of eggs that I could prepare.
In the evenings, I warmed myself by the fireplace and watched Masterpiece Classics on my smartphone at Ruth's suggestion. She was also a great listener if I felt like chatting. I retired to a clean room with an antique desk that included pen and decorative stationary.
Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and other shops were just across the main road from Ruth's house, which was convenient. The neighborhood was quiet and scenic, so it will be very refreshing for anyone who books with Ruth!
