Interaction with Guests
I use email primarily, and am constantly checking. I have the flat set up for smooth flow of arrival and departure with the minimum of fuss, a great system that has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years now. We may meet, we may not, but Ill make sure everything is all good for you.
Kings Cross, a great location with brilliant transport links, a cool vibe of an upcoming busy area and all the facilities you could wish for.
I trust you with my place, please look after things and treat them as your own.
I'd prefer it if you didn't smoke.
It's not really possible to squeeze more than 2 people in, the flats not set up for that, no bed etc, and it'd be a bit tight, so I kept it at 2 people only.
The apartment is in a protected Victorian building with wooden flooring throughout. The wooden floors are nice to look at and easy to clean, but they also amplify noise and can be creaky below, it's an old building ! So I ask you to please be considerate to other residents, if you could be kind enough to avoid using the washing machine late in the evening or very early in the morning, and make sure that you're not noisy late at night, that would be very much appreciated !
If you can ensure gentle movement in the flat, as sound carries through the floor. I find that bare feet is just fine, heels make some noise to the apartment below, do step gently!!
I have an agreement with the other flats that guests should maintain “quiet hours” between 10pm and 8am. I politely request that guests acknowledge their understanding of this. It’s a simle request and will keep everyone happy.
Had a great stay at Mark's place with my girlfriend this past week. Everything was as described and the apt provided a great launching pad of for seeing the city. You can get anywhere very easily. Internet was great. Bed was comfortable and linens well supplied.I would say this neighborhood is much better suited to the younger crowd as it can be a bit noisy and rowdy, but if you are just looking for somewhere central and not really gonna spend time there anyway, then this would be fine. One thing to note is that the bathroom is really small, so if you need extra space to maneuver, take note. You should also bring all your own toiletries. Was totally fine for us but I could foresee these being potential issues. All in all a great stay. One last thing, we never actually saw mark but were able to arrange for easy key pickup up the street and he generously accommodated our late arrival. Thanks again Mark.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Mark's flat. He was very welcoming & kept in touch to make sure our stay was a positive experience. The flat is very well located, only a few minutes' walk to Kings Cross tube station & St Pancras International. It's a perfect place to stay to see all of London's tourist attractions. While the building's exterior and stairways are a little the worse for wear, the flat itself is very clean, spacious and very comfortable for two people, with just about everything you'd need for a great stay. It seems Mark has thought of just about everything! The bed is very comfortable, there's a lovely sofa to sit on, TV with a Virgin media package (thanks, Mark!) the kitchen is very well equipped & includes a washer/dryer & the bathroom is clean and modern. There is some traffic noise from the street below, but this didn't bother us at all. While the unit doesn't have air conditioning for cooling (the building dates from the 1850s!), Mark has thoughtfully provided a portable fan for those hot summer days, and there's central heating for cold days. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Mark's (website hidden) If you're looking at staying here before mid-September, we'd also recommend a visit to the Magna Carta exhibition at the British Library, located just around the corner.
Mark's flat was great and its location was perfect. A McDonald's, Starbucks, and the train/subway station were ONLY two blocks away. Everyone in the neighborhood was extremely nice, especially the Laundry Mat owners, Mark's key holders. We enjoyed a few bars down the street (Happy Hour- 2 for 1). Oh yeah! :) London was beautiful, it reminds me of NYC. With that being said, "Quiet Hours" for everyone surrounding the Flat can be a challenge. The Flat was clean, towels and pillows were fluffy and the bed was comfortable and SOFT. I put an emphasis on soft, because our bed in France was HARD! The restroom in the Flat is compact, I suggest standing and rotating in one place to avoid bumps and bruises. Mark provided us with all the immunities we needed for a pleasant 'holiday'.
Mark, thank you so much for your hospitality and lending your space to make our experience in London as authentic as possible.
The apartment was fantastic, had all amenities and the location is amazing--it is just a 5 minute walk from the Eurostar and major tube lines. The King's Cross area is full of great restaurants/pubs/cafes and shopping as well--perfect if you want to stay in the neighborhood or venture out to other parts of town.
Everything was made very easy because of Mark's help--he went out of his way to ensure the whole process was very smooth and left detailed instructions throughout. He was a pleasure to deal with and he obviously cares a great deal about helping out visitors and making sure they have a great time.
Would absolutely recommend and look forward to staying in his flat again the next time we are in town!
Mark's flat is perfect for a visit to Central London. It is immaculately clean, well furnished and accurately represented in the photos. Mark is easy to communicate with, and though we never met, he set-up an easy key pick-up and always stayed in touch to make sure we were taken care of.
The flat is about a 5-7 minute walk from King's Cross and St Pancras stations, and on the walking route between the flat and the trains you pass many eateries, bars and a Tesco. I'm always leery of the immediate area around train stations, but the neighborhood felt safe and we had no problems returning late at night.
Mark is probably the most thorough host we've had in our handful of Airbnb experiences, and his flat had all the conveniences a traveler could ask for. It was a real pleasure staying here and we would certainly stay with him again and fully endorse him to any of our friends.
Mark's cosy well-organised studio is ideally located for access to both Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. It is an easy walk to a wide choice of transport options that cover all of London.
The local area is awash with cafes, restaurants and pubs so dining is no problem and a nearby supermarket means self-catering is possible. The kitchen in the flat is well-equipped.
Although the bathroom is small it is functional, and the bed is very comfortable as promised.
Altogether, this is a very convenient and well presented base for a stay in London. However, this flat is in a busy central part of a large city and street noise can be intrusive at times - this is the tradeoff for the ideal location.
Mark is a considerate host, checking by email that everything was OK and ensuring that the flat and keys were ready on time. He has a small group of contacts to call on in an emergency, which is a comfort when you are far from home. His written manual, waiting in the flat, was a welcome sight when we arrived.
This is accommodation that we would recommend to others.
This was an excellent airbnb experience for me. Mark's clean, well-designed and well-stocked London flat was conveniently located near the King's Cross tube station. After a week, it felt like my little home and I was sorry to leave. Mark is very communicative and responsive and I would be happy to return!
About the Host, Mark
I've been a London resident for over 10 years and am lucky to have this superb flat to let out.
I work in hospitality, namely restaurants, and develop concepts & business for international clients.
Can't live without good food, Razor Clams, butter garlic & parsley please.
Wash it down with nice chilled Sauvignon Blanc, Rhone Red if we're on main course !
Very happy to sit on the sofa all day and channel surf, my flat is well kitted out for this.
Have travelled extensively, and still love to hop on a plane and go explore.
Not very good at books, but flick through huge amounts of magazines and periodicals.
As a host, I try to make sure you're all sorted out with the place, and leave you to it !
Remote contact via phone / email / sms , I never leave my comms behind !
I lived in the flat for 4 years, so kitted it out & made it comfy. Now it's yours so my stuff isn't there, but I left behind all the handy stuff, cable TV, wireless net, great sofa, super comfy bed, fully kitted kitchen with some devilish chilli sauces, dishwasher, washer dryer, printer, copier, scanner etc.
Super convenient location with all you could need on the street, all night convenience stores, bars restaurants, international transport hubs, access to the world....
Let me know how you are and how I can help, hope you enjoy the flat, it's my home when I'm in town.
Cheers - Mark
