The first thing you will see arriving in Lucca are the town walls, which are very well preserved and still today surround the old town. Lucca is the only town in Italy entirely surrounded by walls; and a jewel of a Tuscan town. Some call Lucca the Pearl of Tuscany.
The massively thick 16th century walls, featuring some of Italy's finest Medieval and Renaissance architecture, superb dining, antique markets, classical and rock music festivals, easy access to stunning nearby villas in the surrounding Garfagnana hills and with endless beaches less than half an hour away - Lucca is one of Tuscany's best-kept secrets.
It is sufficiently off the beaten track to have kept its civilty and reserv. Lucca is a city of merchants and visitors, but the pace of life varies between slow and slower.
This apartment is in superb location in the center of Lucca just in front of Torre Giunigi. Spacious and comfortable offering all the amenities of a modern holiday home, but in the same time giving a breeze of history.
Easy walk-up to 1st floor. Open plan living room with dining area, very spacious master bedroom with a king size bed, second bedroom with bunk bed for two.Children will love this room. Two bathrooms and an eat-in kitchen, where to enjoy the meals, when not dining out in one of Lucca's great restaurants.
The apartment is tastefully furnished with a mix of modern furniture and some pieces of antiques, completed with a parquet flooring throughout. Very charming.
The apartment has all amenities to make the guests' stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Most suitable for families with children.
The apartment is very nice and spacious, it's equipped with all you need to feel like at home. It's clean, cosy and perfectly located: central and quiet at the same time. The double bed is very comfortable, we slept so well! Kati responded quickly and answered all our questions, Francesca was also very nice to meet us although we arrived in the New Year eve. We really appreciated the bottle of wine, biscuits and milk she prepared for our late arrival. There is a market and supermarket Despar in piazza del Carmine, just one minute walk from the apartment, which is very convenient.
We definitely recommend this apartment to anyone especially traveling with the children like we do.
We had a fab time in Lucca, weather notwithstanding. Francesca's apartment is a true home from home, especially for those of us travelling with children. Francesca stayed up late to welcome us to Lucca, greeted us with milk, wine and biscuits and could not have been more helpful - especially when we then managed to lock ourselves out. Our four year old loved the groovy bedroom with secret steps up to the top bunk, and had great fun playing with someone else's toys. I loved all the books and pictures and general spaciousness and, as a cook, the well-equipped kitchen. Because this apartment is immediately adjacent to one of the tallest buildings in Lucca (Torre Guinigi) it's always easy to find one's way home, and it's also near to a small square with a market, a shop, a bank and a post office. There a nice little non-touristy cafe round the corner (left out the front door, then left again) callled Cafe Boccherini where you can have coffee and fig and walnut tart whilst you listen to the music students saw away at their cellos in the Boccherini Musical Institute - the elderly couple who run this cafe love children (and cats) and will ply your child with sweets. This is possibly the best flat in Lucca for anyone travelling with children but it's also marvellous for its sheer centrality and convenience. I suppose what really makes the difference though is the human touch and Francesca really made our visit special with all her kindnesses. Leave now! Get the next flight to Pisa! Thank you Francesca and Kati (and Tomaso).
We cannot add much to the glowing reviews from other guests. It was a great pleasure to stay in such an elegant apartment right in the middle of the old city for four days in September. Kati was very communicative about the pre-stay arrangements, and Francesca was a gracious and helpful local host. We look forward to returning to Lucca and to this lovely apartment, which we recommend highly without any reservations.
This apartment is incredible, it is stylish, spacious, functional, comfortable and perfectly located. The lounge room window looks straight out at the tree-topped tower, it's minutes walk to everything but it is still a lovely, quiet spot. Communication with Kati was great, we met with Francesca at the apartment as she was lovely and very helpful. We had everything we needed, including wine and biscotti on arrival! Plenty of room for all of us, three young children and two adults. Thanks Kati and Francesca for such a great experience of Lucca!!
Great apartment, great location and gracious host. The flat is very large, fully equipped and in the heart of Lucca! We got in very late, Kati was patiently waiting and had a very nice bottle of wine, cold bottled water and a beautiful fancy loaf of bread waiting for us! We traveled with a baby and Kati quickly responded with a personal and local physician referral. We are so grateful to Kati and we would happily return for a future trip. Thanks for everything Kati!
Fabulous apartment in a great location! Spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here in beautiful Lucca. Thank you Francesca and Kati for your excellent communication and recommendations.
We're nearly at the end of our two month holiday and Kati's apartment was by far the nicest place we've stayed. Plenty of room for our family of five, perfect central location in the beautiful little town of Lucca. The apartment had everything we needed and more, parking was fairly close and wasn't expensive, and Kati was very helpful. We stayed five days and loved it, one of the highlights of our trip. Don't miss Lucca, and look no further than Kati's apartment for a place to stay.
Fantastic apartment in Lucca. The location was perfect, and the rental was nicely furnished. Katie was extremely helpful and helped answer all our questions.
