The Space

We are a 4 person family and we're trying our luck abroad. Meanwhile we would love for you to stay in our apartment and enjoy what Reykjavik has to offer.

Our luxury duplex apartment has two bedrooms, amazing views and two wonderful south facing balconies that are divine in summer. It is close to Reykjavik city center and the sports facilities in Laugardalur. You will reach these destinations easily by walking 5-10 minutes. The main local bus station is also only minutes away. There are restaurants and grocery shops very close by. It's close enough to the city center that you don't need a car to explore it but it is in a quiet neighborhood.

Feel free to use all the amenities. The WiFi, the TV, the DVD, the Wii. The kitchen, the washer/dryer, the BBQ and anything else you find useful. You can also drop your car off in the free parking space. Basically we want you to feel at home in our home :)

The bedrooms have a queen size and california king size beds. Both bedrooms have special blinds that block out the 24 hr daylight. Traveling with a small child? Crib and changing station too!

  • We had an amazing experience in Iceland and Magga Dora's flat was perfect -- clean, comfortable and as expected judging from what we saw and read on Airbnb. Our hosts were very responsive and everything went perfectly!

    Would stay again!

  • We enjoyed 12 day stay in your lovely apartment. The two separate sleeping areas worked really well as there were three of us.
The location was perfect, we walked everywhere. From this location we had the option of accessing the downtown or exploring the city.
We highly recommend your apartment, and would like to stay again on any return trips to your very interesting country.

  • We had a fantastic stay in Reykjavik!
Magga Dora always felt reachable and responded lightning quick.
There is a lot of space to work with and the spiral stairs are not difficult to navigate (even with a suitcase) just go slow.
The beds were comfortable and plenty of towels.
The kitchen really rocked, it was nice to not have to buy spices when we cooked. Additionally, just about every utensil is stocked. Food is extremely expensive in the area so having a kitchen really helped with the bottom line. (although nearby Ban Thai was exquisite!).
Felt safe and had easy pickups for tours (special thanks to the previous post for mentioning Hotel Klettur as the place for the Flybus!).
The streets were surprisingly quiet (and we were there for a Friday/Saturday night!) even road noise was minimal.
This (email hidden)d in place and felt like my vacation home, I would stay here again...

  • The apartment was really cool duplex. I had to stay in a much more expensive hotel room for one night and wouldn't suggest it, just stay here instead. Magga as communicator and Karlotta as on-site assistance were a winning combination. Magga, straight forward, understanding and creative. Karlotta, helpful, kind, and sweet. I would suggest this apartment to fellow travelers, if you can make it to Iceland, then this is the place to stay.

  • We had a really good stay in Reykjavik. Magga Dora was very helpful in answering all of my questions about Iceland, from getting about on buses to what we should visit with a five year old and where we should go for dinner.
The apartment is superb, much bigger than I was expecting, with balconies front and back and every possible thing you could need in the kitchen/ bathroom/ entertainment etc so no need to bring extra luggage from home, its all available in the apartment.
Skipholt is a quiet area and the apartment is very close to a good supermarket. Its walking distance to the city centre and, going out of town, to a superb open air swimming pool. We used buses a lot to and it is very easy to get to Hlemmur bus station, where all the main routes pass through.
Look out for the Reykjavik Welcome card at the bus station/ tourist office to get an all day bus pass, free swimming pool entry, free entry to some museums and discounts in restaurants.
In summary, a really great apartment, I'm very glad we found it.

  • This place has a magical atmosphere. It is a beautiful open space, spacious enough to do yoga and dance, very comfortable. It has life and warmth of a place that was lived in by a family, not like a hotel apartment.

Balconies on both floors are perfect to scan the night sky for aurora borealis or marvel at the snowfall.

The house is also perfectly located just a few minutes walk from Laugavagur main street with all the restaurants and bars.

The underground covered parking spot was super useful in 10+ cms of snow...

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Thank you Magga Dora and her family.

  • What great accommodations, and what a great host! Leading up the stay, Magga Dora was incredibly responsive, promptly clarifying any questions about the accommodations and providing some great recommendations as we planned our trip. Despite arriving at the apartment well past midnight, her cousin was there to greet us and entry was painless. The accommodations themselves were spacious, comfortable, and clean - Magga Dora had prepared an informative booklet to guide you around the apartment. It was a little removed from the city center, which was preferable to escape the noise from the hustle and bustle of downtown. We had a car our entire stay too, and it was a quick 5 minute drive to get into the heart of Reykjavik. No complaints here, couldn't have asked for better. Thanks Magga Dora!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Reykjavik and in Magga Doras apartment. It's located in a very calm and quiet area and only a small walking distance from the city center. The apartment is very roomy and equipped with everything you can think of. Magga Dora was very helpful both prior and during our stay and I can only recommend staying in her apartment if going to Reykjavik.

  • The apartment was well placed within half an hour walk to the city centre. It was clean, comfortable, and very quiet. There was easy access to major roads out of town. Good parking and well equipped. Spacious with comfortable beds. Magga helped us with information we needed and answered any emails swiftly. I would be happy to recommend this apartment.

  • Great place in Reykjavik!

Pros: Magga Dora (seriously, a GREAT host), spacious, modern, comfy beds, parking spot, quiet area, view from balcony, fast wifi, amenities, price, MAGGA DORA!

Cons: I guess the only thing I can think of is the 20-25 minute walk from BSI bus station as well as to the heart of Reykjavik (not a problem for me, but I wouldn't recommend carrying a bunch of luggage that far).

All in all I would definitely recommend this place.

We are a family of four and we're moving to Boston. We would love to share our home with you. We are a techy family, we love gadgets and design. My husband and I work in IT and we love making stuff. We also travel quite a bit and visit far away places to experience the wonders of the world and the people in it. Lately we had an addition to the family, a little baby boy, and we can't wait to show him. :)
