Where you’ll be

Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

This unique renovated heritage property (built in 1928) is located in the historic heart of Kitchener-Waterloo. We are located next to the Schneider Haus National Historic Site, a local landmark and Kitchener's oldest dwelling. The 1816 homestead was restored and furnished, then opened as a living history museum in 1981. The heart of the complex is a fine Georgian-frame farmhouse that was built by and was home to the area's earliest non-Aboriginal settlers, Joseph and wife Barbara Schneider, Pennsylvania-German Mennonites.

Just a few steps away is beautiful Victoria Park, Kitchener's oldest park. It was built in 1896 for Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. The human-made lake is fed by Schneider Creek, surrounds three small islands, and is crossed by multiple bridges. The park also contains the Victoria Park pavilion, the Victoria Park Gallery and Archives, a bandstand, and a historic boathouse, a pub and music venue. The entire neighbourhood is filled with beautiful Victorian architecture gems.

The location is super convenient. You are situated very close to the local GRT/Greyhound bus station, light-rail station, and the Kitchener GO Train station. Downtown Kitchener is only 5 minutes away by foot, where you can explore local coffee shops, unique bars, museums & art galleries, book stores, high tech startups (including Google), vibrant multicultural restaurants, the Kitchener Farmer's Market, and more! Uptown Waterloo, University of Waterloo, Waterloo Park, and Wilfrid Laurier University are only 15 minutes away via public transit. If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a little trip up to St. Jacob's Farmers Market where the local Mennonite farmers can be seen still using horse-and-buggy!

All guests will be provided with a custom guidebook to the region by the host. We want you to have a great time, so don't hesitate to ask us about anything during your stay!
