For your Wedding, Anniversary, Birthday, Honey Moon…we can arrange a typical Moroccan dinner with candels and oriental atmosphere.
Cathy and her staff will fully make you enjoy a delicious peaceful stay in the Riad in the heart of the Medina.
Despite the proximity of the Souk, our small neighborhood is very quiet and safe; about 20 moroccan families are living around us.
Public transport are very close ,at the main square Jema el Fna at 2 minutes walk: buses, horse carriages, taxis.

What makes our House special, according to our guests, is its ideal location, its moderate size which makes you feel like part of a family and kindness of the whole team, always flexible, discreet though always paying attention to each of our guests.

Then of course, what is very much appreciated by our guests is also the typical meals we can provide, adapted to any request and budget, prepared with daily fresh seasonal food and our" home made "moroccan breakfast (marmelades, yogourt, moroccan crepe and pancakes, orange juice).

COOKING CLASS WITH THE COOK MOUNA : Mouna is always happy, to provide a half day morning cooking class and share with our guests her secrets, including a visit to the local market.

Guest Access

Everywhere , except to the kitchen which is used by our cook;

Interaction with Guests

I like to be there upon my guests' arrival, (except by night); It is important to me to meet each of my guests and share with them my experience of living in this amazing city; Of course it is also useful for my guests to get all the needed information to enjoy the best stay.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood is a very small one, with only 2 short dead ends, it has been renovated in May2014; the neighborhood is lighted and several night guards are looking after the shops around and our alley which is next to these shops;

Getting around

To reach the Riad easier, the best thing is to call me at the Riad or on my personal mobile to arrange an airport pick up with our driver (extra charge of 14 euros for the car one way);

If you come on your own by car , the best is to park your car in one of the nearest place around the Square , then meet us outside the Café de France;
As most of my guests advise, it is better not to follow any young boy ,knowed as "fake guides" looking for big tips, and ignoring our place among the 1000 riads located in the old Medina;

Other Things to Note

Be careful especially at JEMA EL FNA SQUARE , AND INSIDE THE SOUK, not showing off your camera, phone, wallet , money, passeport, sunglasses etc.. Pay attention to the ladies who are grabbing your arm or hand to make the Henna ,without asking; The Henna there is not natural and damage your skin seriously!
***If you like to get natural henna , we can arrange this at the Riad;

  • We had a very enjoyable stay at this riad.
    The positives:
    -Location-the riad was right in the middle of the medina, close to the square, but along a quiet street where noise was not a concern.
    -Rooms-comfortable beds, nice sized rooms with plenty of room to unpack, plentiful hangers in closet.
    -Breakfast-very nice breakfast served every morning
    -Layout-we were traveling with our two children and used the rooms that connect. We were able to have our own room and bathroom, but still have them in practically the same room.
    wifi-There were a couple of issues with the wifi. One is that it was available in the rooms, only downstairs in the common area. The other issue is that even when we could get on their server, we were only able to check email, not access the internet. It was probably an issue with their provider, but when we notified the staff, nothing was done about it.
    acoustics-While the layout of the overall riad was fantastic (with the courtyard in the middle), it caused some issues with acoustics. From the rooms, you can hear everything going on downstairs which kept us up one night and got us up particularly early one morning. When sitting in the common area downstairs, you can also hear people talking in their rooms.
    Bathroom- only one of the 2 bathrooms had a shower and you had to take a very quick shower in order for it not to flood the bathroom.
    Sewage smell-mid afternoon each day, there was an odor to the second floor.

    Many of the issues we had were due to the fact that it is such an old building, which of course is part of the charm as well. Overall it was a good and unique experience.

  • I had a marvelous stay at this Riad! I was in Marrakech for one week, and when you travel alone as a woman it's nice to know that you're being taken well care of at the place you stay. Cathy and her fantastic crew made me feel at home, here, only a short walk from Jaama El Fna. I can recommend this beautiful riad to anyone, if you're a familiy or travelling alone. Thank you Cathy! Insh'allah I'll be visiting you again soon! Massalama, Kjersti

  • Lovely Riad with a lovely staff! What a welcome calm a to come back to after the liveliness of the Souks and the Square. Loved all the staff Ali, Salah and Moona. • This Riad is an excellent location in the center of the old town of Marrakech. You are in the middle of the everything, all worthy spots are in walking distance. The neighborhood is totally safe, even during night it is no problem to walk on your own.
    The breakfast is delicious, the rooms are clean, comfortable and offer all you need for a stay. The rooftop is pretty relaxing and and quiet. Service is excellent, the staff is always helpful and friendly. You can have some interesting conversations as they are all Moroccans and speak french, spanish or english. The only thing you should take care of is, if you leave the Riad and return late (e.g. after midnight) announce it beforehand. We waited almost an hour to get in and this just with luck and the help of a neighbour who knew the guys from the Riad. Everything else, a strong recommendation!

  • We have enjoyed our stay at Riad Dollar des sables.
    Great welcome by Cathy, showing us on the map where to go, and not to go.
    Comfortable and cozy rooms. Good location.
    And above all, wonderful staff: Muna, Ali, Salah and the kind and hardworking housekeeper who's name I have forgotten. Many many thanks for your kind words, your friendly gestures, the great carr and wonderful food. You have made our stay unforgettable.

    Wonderful riad in the medina, the accommodation is clean, the staff friendly, the meals excellent. It 's really a haven of peace in a very lively city. It was a pity not to met the owners, aspects that would add value and generally differentiate the structures booked through Airbnb.
    Highly recommended!

  • I stayed here with my boyfriend and another couple mid-November this year and we all really have only good things to say about this Riad.

    The location is fantastic and mere minutes from the main square Jemaa el Fna however when you're there it's peaceful and quiet and you feel tucked safely away from all the hustle and bustle.

    Cathy and the rest of the staff were so welcoming and helpful, a few times when we wanted to go somewhere specific they walked us there so we didn't get lost which was very kind of them. Cathy equipped us with a free map on our first morning and marked out a load of places for us to visit which helped us plan our stay as we weren't there for long. The rooms are everything you want. A comfortable bed, a hot shower and really nicely decorated. The breakfasts are lovely and typically Moroccan.

    We would definitely go back (in fact we're already planning when).

    Some advice - we recommend that you arrange for airport pickup or to be met when you arrive in Marrakech (small extra cost for airport pickup) as it is difficult to find the first time. Very easy every time after that.
    I would also warn any ladies travelling alone that the entrance is down a dark street. We always felt completely safe but I don't know if I would have if I was alone.

Dany and Cathy are mother and daughter; We are both very fond of Morocco and Marrakesh where I'm (Cathy) living all year long since 2006, taking care of the Riad and my Guests personally with my team, sharing time with the guests ,giving them suggestions and good adresses to go , to visit inside Marrakesh ,the surroundings and the desert. We both like travels, sharing experience with different people and learning about different cultures. My House has a traditional style,because I wanted it like this, all the furniture and decoration have been made by the Marrakchi craftsmen, and I keep on buying things in the Market around the Riad. i wish more and more people will keep on visiting Morocco and Marrakesh in the future, coming to my Riad and sharing with them my own experience which brings to me happiness, and peace. Best wishes, Cathy & dany
