The Space

We are a family who hosted English language students people doing internships and people just travelling around Ireland to see the sights for the last 7 years.

Your room is a very comfortable single room (Size: 10.2m² 110.0 sqft). In your room you will find a mirror, hair-dryer and wardrobe. You will have access to a shared bathroom during your stay.

We live 5 minutes from the train station on the North side of Dublin. It takes 10 minutes to get to the City Centre.

It takes 10 minutes in a taxi from the Airport and we can arrange a pick up.
We have the internet and cable tv. The rooms are very clean and well kept.

We often host two- three people at a time, with some of them coming back to stay with us again.

Our home has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere about it. We ofen have our students come back and stay again.

Dublin has a vibrant nightlife and is reputedly one of Europe's most youthful cities, with an estimate of 50% of citizens being younger than 25. There are many places to eat an drink in the City Centre that we can recommend.

Our home is comfortable and welcoming and we'd love to have you stay with us.

Guest Access

You will have access to making tea & coffee in the kitchen and use of the shower/bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

John works from home and is always on hand to ask any questions. Our home is warm friendly and we're happy to have a chat over a cuppa tea with our guests.
If we fancy a spot of history there's Clontarf Castle a walk away and the beautiful Malahide Castle a bus journey.

The Neighborhood

We live near the beach and wonderful park, St Anne's that the Guinness family donated to the city.

If we fancy a spot of history there's Clontarf Castle a walk away and the beautiful Malahide Castle a bus journey.

When we want to get away from the hustle and bustle we have seaside village of Howth a ten minute trip on the train it's full of great fish restaurants and the famous seals who loved to be fed by everyone.

There's live Irish music in the local pubs and great night spot Wright's if you like loud music.

Getting around

It's so easy to get everywhere from where we're based. We live in between the two main bus corridors into the city and a 5 minute walk from the train station.

  • I stayed in Debbie and John's home for a couple of days while I was on work placement in Beaumont Hospital. It was ideal for me and would be ideal for anyone on placement or interning in Beaumont; their house is only a short walk or quick bus ride from the hospital. Also the room I stayed in had a desk so was ideal for any study that I needed to do in the evenings. Also very near the train for if you need to go into town. Debbie and John were so helpful and accommodating. Great to have the breakfast too. Was super, if I was ever stuck for a bed in Dublin again I'd be there in a flash.

  • John and Debbie were fantastic hosts, a very friendly and welcoming family. The house was very clean and tidy. Comfy beds, great storage, ample parking, fast internet connection, less than five minutes walk to the train station and all at a great price. If I ever need a room in Dublin again, this will be the very first place I will be checking. Without a doubt an excellent stay.

  • Debbie and John are the embodiment of hospitality - it's no wonder they've been asked to be airbnb ambassadors! My brother and I stayed with them for a week, and they were unbelievably friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. I think we'll be hard-pressed to have hosts this nice anywhere else.

We were in town for a conference and they were very understanding of our erratic schedule. They took the time to answer all the questions we had, offering to draw us little maps of where we had to go and putting us in touch with a cab driver they know. They even took an interest in what we were working on and how the conference went - it was honestly like staying with family!
And as an added bonus, it should be mentioned that besides the cereal and breakfast stuff they leave out for breakfast, they cook really wonderful dinners. They are both foodies and it would be safe to say that the recipes they put together would make Jamie Oliver proud!

All in all, a great place and great family that we can't recommend highly enough. Very comfortable stay, excellent experience.

  • Absolutely best place to stay in Dublin! Debbie and John are wonderful people and will make you feel like part of the family rather than just a guest. John even picked us up from the airport. The house is in a delightful neighborhood with easy access to the City Center via DART so you can enjoy the city life of Dublin while having a peaceful place to rest at night. Breakfast and dinner is also provided. DO NOT MISS DINNER! The company is excellent and the cooking is delicious. Can't think of anything that would have made our time in Dublin any better than it was staying with this wonderful family. Thank you so much! ~KaliKai & Kelsey~

  • I booked this place a few months ago, as it looked promising. And yes, it's a fantastic atmosphere all the time. You feel yourself as an acquaintance from the very beginning, even as a part of the family. But no obligations: you are as independent as you want. House is in a friendly, quiet neigbourhood. DART station Harmonstown to be found only a few minutes walking distance away. If you stay two or more days, you'll love it not being within the noisy centre. I'd always consider coming back to Debbie and her family, at least to say hello to them and the dog and the cat. Highly recommended!
(And, they are used to have long-term guests.)

  • Hi Jhon and Debbie!!

Jhon and Debbie are fantastic host who made me feel like at home since the first minute I met them. Jhon came to the airport to pick me up and was very nice to have this service.
They explained everything about the house and the city of Dublin.
My room was big, very clean and tidy.
At dinner time, we gathered all together and was nice to have very interesting conversations with Jhon, Debbie, Sara(Dennies's daugther), Sam(Jhon's son) and the other guests while we enjoied the Jhon's cooking Italian dishes.
The house is very close from city center, it's about 5 min walk to Dart train station and 15 min on the train aprox.
I highly recomend to stay with them if you plan to stay in Dublin you wont'be regreted.

Best wishes to Jhon and Debbie!!

    Toni from Spain.
