This unique home could be exactly what you have been seeking: Your own retreat with private with lovely views from every room in the house.

This place is a true retreat from hectic city life. Most Irish Rentals are on busy roads or an attached part of a complex. Here, the peace and quiet of bird song, or the wind in the trees, or perhaps a cow in the distance are the only noises that you will hear.

This home is on the land of my ancestors. It is ancient here, surrounded by significant historic sites and dolmans. Marking pedestrian paths criss cross around the property to ancient treasures and gorgeous views.

There has been much inspiration for writers here since Yeats wrote of the Terrible Beauty of Sligo. There is even an old school desk here that the American writer Raymond Carver wrote about as inspiration. Music has been played and Poems have been read here.

Enjoy the solitude in nature on the side of the mountainside. Lovely views of mountains in the distance.

Walk to Lough Arrow or Lough Bo for some fishing. Stop by Cromleach Lodge for a dinner or spa treatment. Hike to the Moytura Battlefield or the Labby Rock to experience some real live legends.

Centrally located between Castlebaldwin, Riverstown, Sligo, Boyle/Carrick, and Ballymote. Travel to different Art and Music festivals through-out the region. Try out surfing on one day and travel to charming shopping the next day.

Sweet house, built with love and with guests in mind. An eco-green remodel just this past year for a healthy interior. House is insulated and has double paned modern windows. Lots of new features like wood floors and beautiful wall colors. This house is furnished with many antique furnishings but modern beds, hot water, heat and kitchen. This house on a hill has a sitting room, dining room, and conservatory porch on the front of the house.

The Sitting room with a tiled fireplace for turf or wood fires, two couches, and tables. There are puzzles and games for use as well (email hidden) player. Or make your own music with the bodrain and tin whistles.

Pull out dining room table can seat eight. Plenty of wine glasses and cocktail glasses for company as well as serving dishes.

The conservatory is warm and snug and bright even when the weather is not. Curl up on the sectional couch with a cup of tea and a good book. Be inspired and sit at the desk to write your novel. This is the desk that

The kitchen has all appliances including microwave, hot water pot and toaster. Kitchen has just been updated with storage fixtures and butcher block. Kitchen includes all the dishes, pots, pans, silverware etc to cook a big meal for guests.

The Master Bedroom has a new Queen size bed, bureau, desk and a spacious closet. The second bedroom has room for two and a bureau and large closet. The third bedroom has a modern single bed, shelves, and a closet.

There are extra mattresses which can be used in other parts of the house as well.

Plenty of linens and towels available.

Bathroom has a full soaking tub. Hairdryer, curling iron, and iron available for guest use.

Books, Maps, and Tourist information.

Front loader Washer and Dryer

Two yoga mats for your use.

Irish Instruments for making music.

Added bonus is a brand new ping pong table in the garage.

Of course it is nice to away from it all but it is also good to be connected!

There is a permanant land line telephone with Eirecom. The mobile phone reception works well here for Vodaphone and other carriers. There are 2 wireless phones for your use in and around the house. All landline calls between 7-7 and weekends are free! There is also 30 minutes of free mobile calls/month as well. For other calls you can pick up a phone card which will be much cheaper than your mobile!

We are in the process of updating the internet with Three. There will be 40 Gigs of data available per month and if you need more you can top up. :)

The majesty of this part of the country is amazing. Fishing, Horses, Hiking and ancient Ruins are all around these hills. Wildlife is found throughout this remote retreat. Also there is a nearby Spa, restaraunts, castles, pubs, horseback riding, animal science centers, zip lines, boat rental, an eco-green retreat center, play grounds, museums, and a music cultural center on short drives.

I have been coming to this magical place my whole life so feel free to write with any questions of what you are looking for on your vacation.

So much to do or absolutely nothing at all! Come experience ancient Ireland first hand for a real vacation.

  • We had a great time in the moytura retreat from Nola. The house is located in a wonderful wild landscape and it is so calm and peaceful! perfect way to recover! Nola is a great host and makes feel you welcome even she is far away in Portland.
    We hope to come back.

  • We stayed at this house for 6 nights. Nola gave us some great tips and an overall orientation so we knew what to expect. This area is just beautiful with Lough Arrow, hiking trails, fields full of cattle, and forests.
The views are great and the sunroom is perfect for going back to a slower pace. We made regular trips down to a pub Castlebaldwin for dinner & tea/desserts. The house also has a fireplace and plenty of room for two people. The bed in the master bedroom was comfortable. The night sky was amazing with the big dipper being in view out the large windows. If you want to experience rural Ireland than this is a great place to stay.

  • The house is in a beautiful location. I am a runner and I went out for a different run every day and didn't once hit a main road. We were very impressed with how well appointed the house is, and comfortable. It was perfect for our small children - plenty of space for them to play inside. Nola has worked very hard to update an average 70s bungalow and turn it into something special.

The outside needs some work and is quite rough and ready, but great for hide and seek!

We had a wonderful time here and will definitely be back. Nola is a very attentive host, even though she is in America, and we couldn't recommend the place enough.

About
Dear Travelers, It is so much fun watching Portlandia make fun of our beautiful city Portland, as well as its residents. I could say the same about Father Ted and Ireland. I am a bit of a stereotype of Portland since I have a business in green rentals as well as being an extremely social, nerdy, outdoors loving, book reading person. I have a bunch of Irish influence which makes me a social story-teller who loves guests. I enjoy hosting folks as well as traveling. I have spent time living in Argentina, France, and Hawaii. I live in Ireland as well as in the States. Sharing my home and other properties is lots of fun. I designed the Taylor house be lovely, healthy, green, and efficient- it's the Sustainable Economist in me. The other properties that I list I have remodeled to be fun and healthy as well. The house in Ireland is on my ancestor's land and I grew up going to this house. I have spent the last two years doing a major remodel and it looks great. La Casita was where I taught Argentine Tango for many years and is quite charming. I also have a house that I rent full time that was featured on the GreenRenter site and is an offical G-Rated environmental home. A key thing about what I offer as a host is what I am looking for as a guest. I can't stand chain hotels. They can be quite luxurious but they always come across as impersonal. Give me a fun walkable neighborhood that real people live, work and play- and That is where I wish to stay. My properties are unique luxurious spaces that I created for myself, my family and my community that I can also share with you. One last thing, these are my personal properties so there are no surprises about folks who are subletting through Airbnb. I have a great team (Talia, Anastasia and Mike) who take care of things when I am away, but you can always contact me through email with any concerns or questions. I am a social person so hosting comes naturally to me and I have often had folks staying with me even before AirBnB. Friends stay with me or just toss relations and friends my way to take in. Thanks Airbnb for their great forum and community. On last thing, my daughter and I have been experimenting with waffle recipes and we need Waffle taste testers. Cheers, Nuala
