This house reflects the lives of my grandparents. My grandfather was a master mariner by profession. He sailed in the American Merchant Marine from the 1920s to the 1940s, circumnavigating the globe more than 25 times. His wartime service was as captain of the Liberty ship, SS John Fiske, whose identifying plaque from the ship’s bridge is on the eastern exterior wall next to the steering wheel. When they retired in the 1970s, my grandparents chose this location so that he and my mother could have a quiet life in the woods, but at the same time could see the horizon and part of the sea.
The tree-top setting is just a half-mile from the town of Inverness with its store, post office, café, and restaurants; and a ten-minute drive from the restaurants, shops and weekend Farmers’ Market of Point Reyes Station. Beaches, hiking trails and the Point Reyes National Seashore are within walking distance or a short car ride, and the south-facing deck is sunny and warm all day. But don't take our word for it--read what the New York Times had to say about Salt Water, the local restaurant, and the delights of the wider area. '36 hours in Marin County', 27 Jan. 2013.
We hope that you enjoy our house, enter into its spirit enjoying the views of Tomales Bay, the hills, woods and beaches of western Marin and Elephant Mountain bathed in the ever- changing light of the Point Reyes Peninsula, a very special ‘Island in Time’.

Incroyable maison dans les arbres avec une vue magnifique, parfait pour une famille avec 3 ados, au cœur du parc naturel de Point Reyes.
Thank you for all Justinian.
The house is cozy and great. We had a great time BBQ-ing, enjoying the view and playing boardgames in the living room.
Your place is beautiful and we had a wonderful time. We had everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed the deck and view. Thank you! Nancy and Dave
Thank you, Justinian, for hosting us in your lovely Tomales Bay home! Justinian was extremely responsive throughout and following the initial airbnb booking process, which was greatly appreciated. The Captain's Cabin was just as described, with charming interior nautical touches and a fantastic view.
Nice place, very private. My kids enjoyed the sleeping room and the yard. The deck is awesome, We spent most of our time there. It's was nice that the kitchen had a hodgepodge of stuff like spices and condiments.
Justinian was a great host. He gave clear directions and was quick to respond to any questions. The place is really nice with an amazing view. We'll be back!
Our time at the Captain's Cabin was absolutely fantastic. Justinian was very communicative and helpful and left lots of detailed explanations of things and suggestions for the area. The house itself was exactly as described. The best part of the place was the deck--we spent most of our time out there eating meals, relaxing, and taking in the views and wildlife. Beds were very comfortable (queen in the main bedroom and two twins in the adjoining room). We had two couples staying there and there was plenty of privacy--there was a door to the room with the twins but you did have to walk through the master to get to the bathroom, not an issue at all for us. The set up would also be perfect for a family. The house is fully equipped with practically everything you'd need to cook a gourmet meal -- pans, dishes, spices, utensils...the works and the grill was amazing. Cannot speak highly enough of this place and the amazing surroundings at Point Reyes!

About the Host, Justinian
I am a wine broker living in San Francisco. This house has been in our family for my entire life, and I have grown up swimming in the bay, hiking the hills and surfing the oceans around this beautiful part of California.
