I've been there last week, I had a very nice time! Staff was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was very good too. I stayed at the dorm in the last floor...it was hot, and the air conditioner was very noicy. Also, bathroom and room were very clean. The location is excelent! I would definetelly recommend it.
I stayed 2 nights on the 4th floor, women only dorm for 6 people. The bathroom was clean and the room was clean. One of the girls didn’t like the A/C unit and turned it off because she thought it was too loud, but I didn’t mind it. So, there are 2 windows you can open to get some air, but because it’s the 4th floor and heat rises, it’s the hottest room in the hostel. They have central air conditioning in the building, but you have to have it turned on in the day to make sure the room is cool at night, especially the summer. The type of people staying at the hostel are super cool and from different countries. I loved that.
I loved the free bagels/cereal/Milk/Coffee/OJ/Tea they have all day long!
I love the front desk staff, super helpful. The location is ideal.
The Clark/Division area is sketchy at night, so I used a taxi-cab service at night.
The second night, a girl was not responding to her cell phone alarm and it kept ringing again and again. That was annoying!
The hostel was great and I would stay there again if I came back to Chicago.
Very friendly and helpful staff! It's clean too!
My stay was very brief but I had a great time! Check in/out is super easy, the entire place was very clean and the person at the desk was great. I wish I got to stay longer!
This was my first time using airbnb, and it was very easy and well organized. The location was convenient to two bus lines and the red line, which made it a very good base for getting around, and the neighborhood seemed safe. I appreciated having a big bathroom with good lighting and mirrors. It seemed very new and clean, the breakfast was good, and the kitchen was even open all day.
Two of my friends and I stayed for the weekend and ABSOLUTLY LOVED 112 Oak! They let us check in early and when we left, let us store our bags there for a bit while we went out for lunch ect. Every morning we were greeted with very freindly and attentive hosts. They were very helpful with directions ect. We absolutly loved our stay here!
Let me start by saying that I would definitely go back and stay at Gold Coast Dorm Room. The location was perfect as I was able to walk to most attractions and it was near a subway station. The place was clean and the location was in a quiet residential area. The staff and the people staying at the hostel were friendly. My only complaint is the check out process. The hostel requires a deposit ($5) for the room key which would be refunded the day you check out. The night before my departure, I asked the staff whether someone would be at the front desk at 8am and he said yes. I arrived at the common room at 7:30am to have breakfast and to wait for the staff to arrive. By 8:30am, no one showed up so I picked up the phone at the front desk that was supposed to directly dialed to whoever is working that morning but I could hear the cell phone ringing in one of the drawers at the front desk. This meant no one was going to pick up the phone. I thought if the phone was in the hostel, perhaps the staff would be back soon. I waited until 9am and no one was available. Thankfully another hostel member happened to be in the common area was kind enough to offer me the $5 deposit and that she would collect the deposit on my behalf whenever the staff arrives. Hopefully the other hostel member got my $5 back. Other than this one issue, I had no problems with the hostel.
I noticed someone mentioning that the hostel would reimburse for the transportation from the airport. I never got the reimbursement. I assume it's not available anymore?
I was in a female room of 6 beds and it was clean, quiet (except for the conditioner air from time to time) and comfy.
They were very nice and there was plenty of milk and other food for breakfast for free! And I met really nice people there. I enjoyed the stay! :)
I had a great stay with Oak 112. The location is wonderful, only a few blocks away from the Red Line, and the neighborhood is very nice. The staff was friendly and the dorm room is lovely and clean. Only slight problem was that the shower in the dorm room would only give either burning hot or freezing cold water, but they said they would check it out. I'd definitely recommend staying here!
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and I would definitely stay there again.
