Nestled among tall trees, just 7 miles from downtown, this cozy hideaway is perched above a river, providing not just an idyllic, treehouse-like view, but also a peaceful backdrop of sound as you fall asleep, or dine on the wrap-around deck.

A serene nature-lovers setting on the outside with colorful creative boho decor and lots of light and plants on the inside. Two bedrooms, a dedicated office/writing room, high-speed wifi, make for the ideal personal retreat or work-from-home getaway.

The space
• The house is filled with light...skylights in living room and kitchen.

• Kitchen is newly remodeled and super clean, stocked with clean sponges, coffee, teas, a reverse osmosis filtered water system right at the sink, VitaMix blender... plus a variety of cooking utensils and supplies for eating at home.

• The house is earth-friendly. We use products that are organic and non-toxic, ensuring your wellness during your visit. (Your host (that’d be me) used to be a musician on the road 250 days of the year, and is all too familiar with the many headaches caused from toxic products.)

• The house is just 7 miles from downtown, but is on a small private road with just 14 other homes, so this is a quiet peaceful place to stay and not for party-people.

• We are meticulous about sanitizing and cleaning every surface after each visitor to maintain high standards in these sometimes uncertain covid times.

• The deck includes seating, plus a table with umbrella for a peaceful outside dining option.

• Pet-friendly, with a fenced in back yard. (The gate leads onto the deck and is not 100% escape proof for sneaky dogs.) We ask for a $100 per doggie fee, with a limit of 2 dogs. Please let me know if you want to bring more than one and how much each dog weighs.

Thank you!

Guest access
The house is perched above a very small street with just 12 houses on it. The street runs along the river and is private and dog-friendly. This is a quiet neighborhood, and you'll hear the sound of the river and birdsong. Parking is just beneath the steps up to the house - and there is a walk up three flights of steps to access the front door.

Other things to note
• High speed internet for guests who need 100% reliability so they can work from home.

• There is a smart ROKU TV in the living room. There isn’t cable tv or satellite. (If you don’t know how to work Roku or don’t have Netflix or Amazon Prime, and you live for all-things-television, then you would be better off finding a different place to stay!)

• We recycle.

• There are black-out shades for windows for those who are meticulous about sleep hygiene.

• For guests who like to be outside more than inside, there’s a spacious wrap-around deck with a table and umbrella for dining outside, and a small covered sitting area with twinkle lights under the trees. In the front of the house, you’ll find a hand-made hammock swing with a view of the river for quiet lazy moments of mindful presence.

• The house is designed with a boho flair and classic Ashevillian artistic touches, as well as a beautiful assortment of houseplants (unusual in a vacation rental!). The rooms are furnished with comfortable high-end pieces - including a Caligaris bed with an organic king-size mattress, the iconic Ligne Roset Togo living room set, and a well-stocked kitchen with many amenities and fine cookware for those who want an easy cook-from-home experience.

• There is not a firepit. This is intentional. We want to respect the people who live on this street, as smoke can really fill the “basin” of this unique and hidden river location.

• If you are 60 years or older - or have health issues - I would advise you to consider another place to stay. There are three flights of stairs up to the house. And the cool funky furniture is a lower profile and you may not enjoy that. (If you are a “young” 65, then you’ll love it here. (I’ve hosted many of these types. :))

• There are two adirondack chairs by the river just across the street that you are welcome to sit and socialize and dream in. Just let me know and I'll show you where to go.

Neighborhood highlights

The cottage is perched among the trees above a tiny tree-lined street that has just 12 houses on it. The street runs parallel to the river so you hear mostly birdsong and the gentle sounds of the water, and catch the occasional black bear wandering by. My work: Author, artist, entrepreneur, business coach.
Lives in Asheville, North Carolina
I moved to Asheville in the 90's to escape the city and my post-college cubicle job. I wanted to be a songwriter...which thrilled my parents to no end. It was the perfect place - and I spent the next 15 years as a touring performing songwriter on my own record label. (Shared stages with everyone from The Beach Boys to John Mayer to Nanci Griffith - and made 7 CD's along the way.) In 2010, I started a business coaching company, hosting clients from all over the world at our events here.
