Sean and Jessica go above and beyond
Guests describe Sean and Jessica as responsive, kind, and attentive throughout every stay.
Escape into the woods and settle into a little bit of mountain magic.
Built in 1968 and thoughtfully reimagined as an eco-luxe farmhouse chalet, this one-of-a-kind Big Bear retreat sits against the backdrop of the San Bernardino National Forest, where towering pines, fresh alpine air, and a slower pace set the tone from the moment you arrive.
The space
*** NOTE: Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate check-out on Christmas or New Year's Day. Thank you for your understanding ***
Proudly part of the Kind Cabineer Collection, the chalet was created as a place to restore, reconnect, and simply disappear for a while.
Inside, thoughtful design meets a little whimsy. You’ll find locally sourced wood, handmade furniture, crystals, mindful books, vintage finds, conscious decor, and warm farmhouse details throughout — all layered together to create a cozy, soulful retreat that feels both elevated and deeply connected to nature.
One of our favorite rituals here is simple: wake up, make a cup of locally roasted Desert Kid Coffee, open the windows, and let the forest in.
Forest Bathing, Indoors
The bathroom is really something special.
Sink into the deep, freestanding soaking tub and open the casement windows to the trees, cool mountain air, and night sky beyond. It’s the closest thing to bathing outdoors without actually being outside.
There’s also a separate custom-built shower with views toward the woods, making even the most ordinary morning feel a little more like a retreat.
Hot bath. Open windows. Pines outside. Nowhere to be.
The Living Space
The heart of the chalet is the dramatic open living area, framed by a 26-foot vaulted ceiling and expansive windows that pull the outdoors right into the room.
Curl up with a book, settle in with coffee or tea, or flip on the easy-start fireplace and let the cabin warm up around you.
The curated book collection gives a nod to Big Bear’s history, early settlers, local wildlife, and the natural landscape — a quiet invitation to learn a little more about the place you’ve escaped to.
For movie nights, there’s a 50-inch Smart TV ready when you are.
Kitchen + Dining
The kitchen was designed for slow mornings, intimate dinners, and everything in between.
You’ll find quartz countertops, a deep farmhouse sink, full-size stainless appliances, pottery-style dishes, wine glasses, high-quality copper-bottom cookware, Henckels knives, and a beautiful gold-toned flatware set.
We also provide the essentials that make a weekend away feel easy, including creamer, organic teas, and locally roasted Desert Kid Coffee.
The dining space is one of the most romantic corners of the cabin, surrounded by large windows and French doors with views of the pines.
At the center is a handmade live-edge dining table built by us using locally sourced Big Bear wood.
Dim the six-light chandelier for a moody dinner, open the space up for morning light, or linger over a bottle of wine while the forest settles in outside.
The Loft Bedroom
Climb the sleek oak spiral staircase to the loft bedroom tucked beneath the chalet roofline.
From bed, you’ll wake up to treetop views and the warm pine interior of the chalet, giving the room a wonderful treehouse-like feeling.
The bed features an eco-friendly Puffy Luxe mattress along with Cozy Earth bamboo bedding, creating an especially soft and comfortable place to recharge after a day on the mountain.
Morning light through the trees is pretty hard to beat up here.
Step Outside
The forest doesn’t stop at the windows.
Walk directly from the cabin to nearby hiking trails, explore the surrounding woods, or wander out back where a seasonal stream moves through the property.
As evening settles in, gather around the outdoor fireplace, listen to the trees, and watch the sky change above you.
It’s peaceful, quiet, and wonderfully removed from everyday life.
Thoughtfully Reimagined
Sustainability has been part of this cabin’s story from the beginning of its renovation.
We used locally and responsibly sourced wood, eco-conscious paints, handmade furnishings, and vintage pieces that were upcycled and given a second life.
The dining table, bed frame, headboard, coffee tables, and other details were hand-built using local wood, giving the chalet a personality that can’t really be recreated somewhere else.
It’s not meant to feel like a perfectly manufactured hotel room.
It’s meant to feel collected, thoughtful, personal, and connected to the mountains.
Driving Electric?
We’ve got you covered.
There is an outdoor 120V outlet near the driveway that can be used for overnight charging with your own compatible mobile charger.
Dog Friendly
We’re happy to welcome one small dog, up to 20 lbs., with prior approval.
If you would like to bring more than one dog or a dog over 30 lbs., please contact us before booking so we can review the request. Approval is at our discretion and may depend on the dog’s size, breed, property-specific restrictions, owner requirements, and safety considerations. Unfortunately, we can't accommodate every request.
The backyard is not fully enclosed, so please keep an eye out for other wildlife if letting your pet roam.
A Stay That Gives Back
Every stay also gives something back to the destination you’ve come to enjoy.
A $2 community impact fee per reservation is donated to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo, a wildlife rehabilitation facility and sanctuary caring for indigenous animals that have been injured, orphaned, or permanently impacted and are unable to return to the wild.
We encourage you to visit during your stay, meet some of the incredible animals in their care, and learn more about how we can all help protect Big Bear’s wildlife and natural surroundings.
This chalet was designed for those moments you don’t always make enough time for.
A long bath with the windows open. Coffee beneath the pines. A quiet dinner by candlelight. A book beside the fire. A walk into the forest with nowhere in particular to go.
Come slow down, soak awhile, and find your own little piece of the woods.
Other things to note
Our WiFi is blazing fast it's currently rated at 300upload/300 download ready for all your streaming needs
EV Charging: We have a 110v plug out in front of the cabin you are welcome to use to plug in your personal travel charger. We do not have an actual charger on the property.
Thank you for choosing our cabin for your Big Bear getaway. While we are pet-friendly, if there will be more than one dog, we kindly ask you to notify us before booking, as we will evaluate on a case-by-case basis.
Please note there is a $35 pet cleaning fee (including service animals/ESA animals). If you are bringing a pet, you are required to check the “pet fee” upon reservation. Airbnb's policy for service animals allows up to ONE service animal per stay; if additional pets join, there will be additional fees. This includes all types of dogs due to pet dander and non-shedding dogs.
Our cleaning team charges us this fee due to the extra cleaning that is required with pets. Due to our allergy-sensitive guests, it's mandatory that the highest levels of cleaning procedures take place to maintain optimal health standards.
We kindly ask if you bring any animals; PLEASE keep them off of the sofa, blankets, and bedding. Thank you.
In order to keep the kitchen safe, sanitary, and free of contamination, we do not provide any open containers of liquids (honey, cooking oil, and other items like this) after COVID. We provide your basic dry spices, and sometimes a few extras, for your kitchen use. Sorry for any inconvenience this could cause.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding.
