The Space

PLAY AND RELAX BY THE WATER in the heart of historic downtown Sausalito in this luxurious, modern 2 bedroom, 2-1/2 bath waterfront house that sleeps up to seven guests. Centrally located in this romantic seaside village, many restaurants and sights are right outside the door including the marina, unique boutiques, galleries, restaurants, the movie theater and ferry. Parking is included and the ferry and buses to San Francisco is right down the street.

FULL, MODERN KITCHEN - You'll love cooking here! Great for entertaining family or friends.

GUEST BEDROOM with double bed, en-suite bathroom, large closet and private garden balcony

SLEEPER SOFA in living room with easy access to own half bathroom and closet.

EXTRA BED is available by request. This honest to goodness twin mattress can fit in the master suite.

WASHER AND DRYER:
Your own modern washer and gas dryer just off the kitchen.

ROMANTIC: Every room has a balcony. Cozy gas fireplace adds real atmosphere.

GREAT for families with kids, festive family get-togethers or a romantic get-away.

Guest Access

The house is yours! Cook a festive meal in this fully equipped kitchen, or use the bicycles to ride to a local restaurant down the street.

Interaction with Guests

I believe that my guests like to have their privacy and enjoy the place that they rented. I'm nearby for any issue, but not "right next door" which can feel a little inhibiting.

The Neighborhood

FOOTSTEPS to the best of Sausalito: Caledonia Street and Princess Street shops; and some of San Francisco's top restaurants: Sushi Ran, Cibo, and Scoma’s and many more.

NEAR ALL THE ACTION and some of the best live music venues in Marin: the no name bar, Seahorse Music Café and Caffe Divino; and all the activities: Sea Trek (paddling rentals), Tour de Sausalito (bike rentals), Yoga of Sausalito and the Modern Sailing School. Now you can rent high end bicycle road bikes just down the street at Bicycle Odyessy. Get your training ride in to Point Reyes through beautiful West Marin County!

Getting around

This is the most convenient, centrally located place to see all the sights on foot or by car!

On Foot:
-- Go anywhere in Sausalito on Foot. You're right there!
-- Take the bicycles and ride 20 minutes on a separated bike path to quaint Mill Valley
--Take bus to San Francisco from right across the street
-- Enjoy the San Francisco bay on the ferry to San Francisco. A 5 minute walk to the ferry and a 30 minute ride to downtown SF!

By Car:
-- Park in the carport right in front of the house.
--15 minute drive to San Francisco across the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge
-- Visit Muir Woods, Stinson Beach or the Wine Country of Napa. All less than an hour drive.
-- 30 minute drive to San Francisco Airport

Other Things to Note

UPDATES:
We've equipped the place with a new coffee maker, although there are three excellent coffee brewers within a block. (See comments about coffee maker) I've replaced the shades with black-out shades downstairs. (See comments about shades).

  • This home was everything and more than listed. My wife & I stayed here for 4 nights during a 2 week road trip around California with another couple, and it was our favorite lodging by far! You might need an engineering degree to figure out the entertainment system and the living area lights, but that's just like mine at home...and they're really cool. This was a great way to visit San Francisco, although Sausalito is a destination in itself...and all accessible by foot (and bicycle provided) right from Steve's home. One of my favorite mornings of our entire road trip was biking over to the Golden Gate to Ft. Baker then coming "home" to fresh fruit and coffee on the deck looking over Bridgeway and the Marina. For crossing the GG by car we easily signed up for a temporary account (email hidden). I strongly recommend this rental and will be planning a return.

  • Did what it said on advert, great location, lots of info provided about location and amenities. Lots of space for 2 couples without being on top of each other. Everything you could possibly need was provided, or info of where you could get it.

  • Steve's place is exactly as advertised. A great condo, smack-dab in the middle of the relaxing waterfront Sausalito community. We found Steve's home served as a great place to seek refuge from the nearby bustle of San Francisco. We hope to be back.

  • Steve's place is right on the main drag in Sausalito, but very little street noise at night. We all slept great. Great location for walking into town, and getting to and from SF and points north. Can rent bikes, take the ferry, walk easily anywhere. Accommodations were good. We arrived a little early (before the cleaning service) but he got things squared away quickly. Grocery store within 5 minute drive so we stocked fridge for the week for convenience. We considered staying in a hotel in the city, but with two boys (age 12 and 9)....thank goodness we did not. We would definitely come back.

  • What a great place! We came up to the SF area for a couple of days with three teenage children. The location could not have been better with easy access to the Marin Headlands, Muir Woods, and then of course San Francisco by ferry. The apartment was spacious and clean. Will definitely be back.

  • This place is AMAZING!! We had a great stay and loved the location. You are right in the heart of Sausalito - and if you want to take the ferry to San Francisco, you are close to the ferry stop. The views can't be beat - it was a very relaxing escape.

  • My children and I had such a great time at Steve's home in Sausalito! Steve was a wonderful host who was always available if we needed anything. The house has a fantastic location, has a great layout, a wonderful kitchen and the rooms are spacious and cozy. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Steve!

About
I grew up in San Francisco, but have made Sausalito my home. Its rich history and connection to all things watersport are why I love to be here. A sailor from a young age, I have recently taken up outrigger canoeing and stand-up paddleboard. I’m an avid cyclist who uses his car as little as possible while enjoying the many wonderful bikeways of Marin County. I’m a history buff who’s not shy about talking politics, religion or economics and I follow the markets closely. I’m happy to share an insider’s knowledge of the Bay Area’s history, biking trails or local hot spots.
