Because it is located in the heart of rural St. Lucia, the Gekko Lodge gives you the chance to experience true St. Lucian culture. You are able to chill out and mingle at the local rum shop over a glass of our legendary St. Lucian rum.
You can have a swim in the nearby river, and experience a local river picnic with roasted breadfruit, plantains and salt fish.
In the evenings you may also enjoy a game of dominoes and sample authentic St. Lucian cuisine at a local restaurant all just a stone throw from the lodge.
Activities can be arranged through us or you may choose to explore the island on your own. Either way, you are in for an incredible & unforgettable time at the Gekko Lodge.
I didn't get to meet Raimonda as she was away but her partner Werner was a great host. Although I only stayed a couple of days I really enjoyed my stay at Gekko Lodge. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and safe and had everything I needed to enjoy my short stay. It is situated in a rural part of St. Lucia where you can really get to know and understand the local life. Werner introduced me to the local area where I enjoyed meeting some of his family & friends. As I was without transport he was very kind to take me to a fish festival one night and to sample some local cuisine in a nearby village the next evening and also gave me lifts to & from the airport. Really appreciated his hospitality. I would definitely recommend Gekko Lodge for anyone who wants to stay away from the main tourist area of St. Lucia in good, comfortable accommodation.
The Gekko Lodge is a very clean and comfortable place, with big living room and kitchen. Werner and his cousin were very helpful with their advices about the area and even took me to the hot springs by car or accompanied me for some hikes in the remote areas. I especially enjoyed the hospitality of the people in the village, providing me with fresh fruits!
If you want to experience the real St.Lucia, the Gekko Lodge is the place to be!! We had a wonderful time there and with the help of our host we dove into the culture of St.Lucia big time.
Our host Werner has organised a trip to a farm in the middle of the rain forest where all kinds of fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices grow in a natural environment - flora and fauna abound.
On another day we expolored the whole west coast of the island with him, discovering hidden places which would be impossible to see without his immense knowhow. At the same time we never felt like on a typical guided tour, since the atmosphere was really casual and relaxed.
the Gekko Lodge is located in a remote village where everyone knows each other and welcomed us wholeheartedly. Nevertheless it is easy accessible by public transport from castries. In general public transport work really well around the island.
In Gekko Lodge we had our own room and bathroom and could also cook when we wanted to.
Even after we left Gekko Lodge and moved on to another part of the island, we continued discovering St.Lucia together with our host.
We really believe that staying at the gekko lodge has maximized our experiences from the time on St.Lucia.
We were so lucky to make reservations with Raimonda at her Gekko Lodge!
On our day of check in, we were leaving a time-share style resort... which was suddenly hit with a wild tropical storm. We were so worried and had no idea how we would make it out to meet our taxi driver to travel across the island... but even though Raimonda was away in Europe at the time, she coordinated everything for us via phone. I'm sure she had important things to do for herself but she focused on us and made sure we got to her place safe & sound.
As I had mentioned, she was away during our stay, and no one else had booked in at the same time - so we had Gekko Lodge to ourselves. The house is beautiful, and looks to have been recently updated by a tile-master - gorgeous and so clean! The kitchen was sparse but more than we needed for a single night, and the super comfy couch, speedy wifi, and cable TV were all unexpected bonuses.
Thank you to Raimonda and her team for making us feel so safe and at home.

About the Host, Raimonda
I am adventurous and fun loving, I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I am originally from Lithuania, but I moved to St Lucia a few years ago. I spent the first year exploring the island and getting to know the people and culture.
