NYC Water View (sleeps 10 guests)

Please don't be put off by this listing being outside of Manhattan. We are closer to Midtown Manhattan, Times Square, Theater District, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Empire State Building, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and Rockefeller Center than staying in other parts of Manhattan (Wall St., Upper East or West Side, above 70s... We are closer than all parts of Brooklyn and definitely way closer than staying in Queens/Bronx).

As our guest during the 4th of July, whoever stays in our apt. is invited to my house to the best fireworks they have ever seen.

About your accommodations:
Private luxurious apt., one room with a queen-size bed and the other rooms 2 full-size beds, nightstands, open spacious beautiful hardwood floors and exquisite mahogany color to help you relax after a day of sightseeing and shopping or whatever you please; we will welcome you with open arms.

Take a bath or soak in marble soaking tub with a shower head that makes you feel like you're bathing in the rain. Take a walk down a beautiful lit hallway to the great kitchen right out of a James Bond movie, a great experience. A beautiful large living room with crown moldings all around you, room with views of the New York skyline as background, sit down to a glass of wine, hear your favorite music watch TV in 42" HDTV mounted on the wall for your viewing pleasure. This is what Robert & Gaby your hosts will provide for you; they will greet you as part of their family. If you need them or request them, they will be right there for your assistance. your privacy and accommodation will be our responsibility and our pleasure.

The break down of the house:
All new furniture, 3 bedrooms, 1 includes a queen-size bed, the other 2 rooms have both two full-size beds, fresh linens and towels, cotton duvets on the beds. Each room has a big closet with hangers, small night-table and bedside lamp.

Also has air conditioning and old radiator heating for extreme comfort and charm. Each room has private lock on their door for privacy and security. All have windows looking out to great relaxing views of the surrounding area. The master room has a view of a man-made lake right across the street window. You're only a block from the breathtaking view of the NYC skyline.

House comes with one full bathroom and a powder room which is beautiful, all modern new fixtures, you're going to love it. Right next to state-of-the-art kitchen with everything you need to make a meal. Brand new stainless-steel kitchen; we provide pots, pans, plates both deep and flat, cutlery, toaster, microwave oven, reg. oven, fridge, coffeemaker. The kitchen overlooks a modern cool sexy living room with 2 sofa beds for extra room if needed, with a flat screen TV.

  • Gaby made it very easy for us to check in. There is WiFi in the house. The house is a great size for 8 people, but it works for 10 also. Everything is in great condition. The neighborhood is very quite. The bus to Manhattan is literally 2 minutes away, and it runs every 30 minute or so. Be aware that it can be packed to the limit during rush hours ($4 one way – Metrocard not accepted on Jersey transit). It's a little annoying that one need to use the bus transit, because it takes a while to go to 42nd/8th, wait for the bus, and then the bus ride itself. The house is highly recommendable though, but personally I would prefer Brooklyn over Union City because of the easier and more flexible commute.

  • The host was easily available by telephone. Picking up the keys and having a parking permit was also easy. Nice little house with 3 rooms.
Someone came everyday for cleaning the place, which was a plus (always clean) but somehow surprised us the first day (we didnt know someone had the key to come at our place).
As in every apartment/house to rent on this website, the number of people that can be hosted is greatly over-estimated. The six of us were comfortably installed, but i could not imagine more people than that (I guess everyone as to advertise their place as having the capacity to host as many people as possible).

Otherwise, good location, calm and safe neighboorhood. Bus 123 available at the corner (goes directly to Port authority).

  • Staying at Gaby and Robert's place was great! It was super easy getting and returning the keys! The house was clean and perfect for our needs! It was nice of them to let us rent out the place for just one night and it's in close proximity to manhattan; just a short cab ride into the city! The beds were very comfortable and all amenities were in good condition and in working order :) we did see the place advertised as 1.5 baths but there was only one, so that was a bit of a surprise but no big deal in the long run. We would definitely use Gaby and Robert again! Thank you so much for everything! Cheers!

  • Fantastic stay for a family with four children that was so close to the city. Could not have asked for more

  • Dear Gaby and Robert, thank you for your hospitality. We liked your house and the area it is located in. We highly recommend Gaby and Robert as very friendly and hospitable hosts. The house is quite big and for four of us it was a perfect solution. It is clean and very convenient. Since we had breakfast at home, we appreciated how well equipped the kitchen is. Also, the biggest plus of this accommodation is its location: it took us 20 minutes to get to Manhattan. We will recommend you to all our friends! Yana from Moscow, Russia

  • We loved our stay w Gaby and Robert! House is so close to TIMESQUARE IN NYC. close to bus stop helped a lot to walk w the little kids. Tired of walking late night bus from port authority took us home in 15min, a plus!
Gaby was always available to give us tips on restaurants and beaches near by.
We had a great time, the house easily accommodates 8-10, we were 7! Also, everything is new and cute.
    Thank you Gaby for everything.

  • Five of us fit very comfortably in the 3 bedroom house. The location is right on the otherside of the Hudson river with excellent views of Manhattan. We took bus 123 into Manhattan which was simple and easy to use. The house is located in a spanish-speaking community with a lot of excellent south american restaurant choices in the area. There is free parking nearby. The neighborhood is very safe and everyone is really friendly. Definitely will be back to stay!

  • Very nice house, clean, exactly as pictures. Very close to Manhattam, bus takes about 15 minutes even on rush hours, if you get the bus timetable you do not lose much time in transit. I bought the 10 tickets package for US$ 27, so cost was only US$ 2.70 each way! I would definitely stay there again!

  • My family and I rented Gaby & Robert’s 3-bedroom house for 3 nights due to losing power at home after hurricane Sandy. There were good things and bad things about the experience, but overall I would not stay with them again.

First, the good: Clean, comfortable bedrooms and bathroom, large kitchen, convenient location to NYC, ample parking. Working TV and WiFi internet.

The bad: We had to put sheets over the couch because it was so filthy. Also, on our second day there, there was a major gas leak. I opened the front door to air out the place, and this random (seemingly intoxicated) man tried to come in the apartment. He didn’t identify himself and I almost slammed the door in his face and called the police until he mentioned Robert’s name. Turns out he is the contractor who did the place and lives a few houses down. He then tells me that he doesn’t smell gas… as though I would make something like that up. Then Robert comes over and also says he doesn’t smell gas but that he would call the gas company. Turns out there was a gas leak, so the gas had to be turned off. We were without heat (and cooking gas) for the rest of the day, through the night and through the following afternoon. Robert did provide us with space heaters, but it was still cold. He refused to give us any money off the price of the rental for the inconvenience. When Robert came by to check on the gas situation the following day, he just came on in. He didn’t call, didn’t knock… just used his key to come in. A few hours later, the “housekeeper” did the same thing. Just came in without knocking and used her key. I use quotations around “housekeeper” because all she did was come in and empty out the trash cans. The violation of privacy is unacceptable.

If you are desperate (as we were), this could be a place you would choose as a last resort. At least its mostly clean and you will be able to get a good night’s rest. However, Gaby and Robert are not very professional. They don’t communicate with you very well and you have to call them a bunch of times/go by their apartment if you need something. If you do choose to stay there, put a chair up to the door or some random person with a key may barge in on you!

  • My husband and I, along with out 1 year old son, my husbands parents and sister decided to take a trip to NY. Although this accommodation is in Union City, NJ it really is a super quick bus ride right to Times Square. (about 13 minutes, if you go for a week or more look into a week bus pass and subway pass-it will sae you$$)This house is literally closer than Brooklyn, Queens& even upper Manhattan is to Time Square. Coming home late was a pain though as the nearest bus after a certain time is about ten blocks away. We rented the entire house from Robert and Gaby and were happy with what we got for our money. We slept 5+ a baby in three separate rooms and could have easily slept 8 adults. There are little corner stores nearby to buy food- nothing like the massive ones we're use to but we found things to make due easily. The apartment doesn't have a phone so if you want to order out there is a pay phone down the block. When we were leaving Gaby's father called us a cab which was greatly appreciated. Cab from there to Newark Airport was about $45 there but $55 coming. I would rent again from Robert and Gaby. Their ad and pictures are accurate and they reply quickly and answered all of our questions. Other tid bits.. there is a Dunkin' Donuts a few blocks away if you need a morning coffee, but there is also a coffee maker in the house. Only one bathroom so be prepared to share :) There is a free ferry to Staten Island (so you can see/photograph the Statue of Liberty). Shopping in the back rooms on Canal Street is totally safe (I wasn't sure before we went). People from NJ&NYC are unbelievably friendly and helpful so don't be afraid to ask. If you go up the Rock or Empire State Building... go late. It is less busy and the view is unreal. If you want to see the World Trade Center Memorial reserve your free tickets online before you go (we booked ours a month in advance just in case). Wear comfy shoes!!
