Next to the Beach and National Park, this area is full of nature - take time to rest, swim, walk. The bedroom is light and sunny and doubles as a lounge room. You have your own car park and entrance and can prepare simple meals in the kitchenette. There are three rooms, the main room, bathroom and kitchenette, with entrances from outside from two courtyards - so its not a traditional apartment - more like a studio, cosy not large. It is ideal for a couple or two friends. Two cafes are nearby.
Welcome to Byron Bay beachside !
We have a reputation for quiet here. You will be completely close to the beach, independent and private during your stay. You may not even meet us! The rooms are described as cute and cosy by reviewing guests. We are at the oceanside National Park and a few minutes through the bush to deserted beaches, which also happen to be dog leash free.
Remember its not a usual apartment but it is 3 cosy rooms - bifold doors to the bedroom which doubles as a lounge open into your private inner courtyard and bathroom entry door does too. The kitchenette entry is from the first couryard, which is share with us - as it has a washing machine which we may access during your stay.
This room has total privacy, its own entrance and courtyard, a queen bed, plus the bathroom and a kitchenette. There is space in the room for your own yoga practice or exercise inside. Or stroll to the nearby beach where you can walk 20kms each way without seeing any houses - its great for long walks and you may see dolphins or whales. It is ideal to take this room if you want to take time for nature, sun, surf, bush and deserted beach therapy - We love it!
We two gals own this house at the Bay just south of pristine national park at the north end of the Byron shire. See the map or (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Mia Court to orientate our location. It is quiet and the beaches are nearly deserted most days and patrolled by lifeguards to the south at holiday season only.
We love the beach especially since it is leash free for dogs, and we have created beautiful subtropical garden. It's good to drive here if you want to take advantage of all the good food cafes and restuarants in Byron Bay town - 20 minutes south from here.
If not, make simple meals in the kitchentte - order delivery of your groceries on line or walk along the beach to the local cafes/shops - two of them. Internet access with some download and tv/dvd no problem.
IF you come by plane to Gold Coast airport, search for a shuttle that will take you door to door - this service is available from one or two companies - not all coaches offer this .
We both work full time - and Al from home. You can book her for a yoga, meditation or breathwork session. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We are happy to offer reviews and info about cafes and restaurants - but check out the local free paper, the "Echo", which has a long list - and the contact numbers - plus all the local hotel and entertainment gigs
Bonus for DOG LOVERS - you may bring your dog by negotiation - the beach is for dogs and leash free makes it so special ! - It is just a few minutes away and when dogs are free we all love it! The condition for having your dog to stay also is that you do not leave the dog alone here - you take it wherever you go, as there is no shelter in the courtyard. There is also a tidal river site nearby which the dogs love - or for kayaking? easy access and near a cafe called Yum Yum Tree with good coffee (bottle shop next door too). Even closer, is "the Shop" cafe a short walk along the beach or five suburban bushy blocks.
We have two beach bikes - to ride on the beach or ride to the two these nearby cafes - one at 5 minutes and the other ten minutes away - both next to the grocery shops and one bottle shop.
Oh - and did we tell you: the street is gorgeous and quiet - and we have a free park, tennis court and basket ball square! located just a few houses to the east and next to the track to the beach.
Beach bikes, boogie boards and tennis racquets and a barbecue available by request
Unless you are going to have a really laid back local stay only, its best to have a car to get to the great cafes and restaurants - 70 or more in this shire. Buses into Byron town are once or twice a day only - a taxi is ok if you have plenty of money or in an emergency.
For those attending festivals ?
We are quite close to both festival sites !
We are next to the Parklands at Yelgun which is quickly accessible by festival bus - from a stop just a 7 minute walk - at South Golden Beach. The Parklands entrance is 4.5kms from here by road, about 4 minutes usually.
We are also not far by road from the other festival site at Tyagarah - 15 minutes by car. We are to the north of Tyagarah so less queue? maybe?
You may let yourself in the gate to the left side of the garage doors - and go to your space. Its completely separate to the house and totally private in the second courtyard rooms.
You have your own car park and own entrance gate with one more to your own private courtyard, main room entrance and bathroom door. We share the first courtyard to the kitchenette as it has the washing machine which we may use every few days - otherwise the kitchenette is all yours.
There is equipment for basic meals and making breakfast, lunch etc.
There is a convection glass oven which is quick and easy and an electric frypan, and all other basics, a double electric element and a fast induction one too. Also the sandwich press is great for vegetables and simple to use too.
The local park has a free tennis court, basket ball square, and picnic arrangements - barbecue may be working (and swings for kids but we are a couples space so ...?)
Interaction with guests
I love having guests and giving out information about the area. However i find the guests who choose this space are already independent and looking for a quiet and laid back private time next to the beach. So i mainly see them coming and going in the car space, and they text me if they need something.
I work from home so I am mostly available if needed. We have our own entrance and live at the other side of the house, divided by the garage. We share a common shut off inner wall to the guest's totally private bedroom with its own courtyard. There may be some sound that travels through the wall but there has been no problems reported so far.
We do not guarantee we will be there during the duration of the guest's stay. However we set the rooms up so you are fully self sufficient.
Other things to note
The apartment/flat is made of three rooms off two courtyards so it does not always match how people think of an apartment.
We may use the washing machine every few days. Otherwise the kitchenette and first courtyard is totally for your use.
We dont lock the kitchenette but you have a key for your room - the bifold doors. Of course you are responsible for the safety of your valuables, which are best left in the main room with it locked when you leave.
A heater on the wall is ok for moderate cold. We leave a fan or electric heater when necessary.
Wifi and cooking appliance information is in the room
The dvd is in the back of the television screen so put the dvd in with the silver side facing you - and the label facing away from you.
If there is an electrical storm its best to unplug everything.
We can possibly give you some dog minder contact numbers if you need to leave your dog at any stage - all negotiable
SPECIAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE BEACH -
You can find it down the track next to the tennis court which is just 8 houses back down the street. The beach is unpatrolled, and we strongly advise you to have fun in the surf but never try to float/swim - keep your hands or feet on the sandy bottom at all times. Since it is such a long beach it has circular movements of the waves and tide and so you can be moved out to sea or north or south. The good news is that if this happens, the tide will also wash you back in further up the beach, so keep floating and let it push you back in IF it took you out!
I work from home so i can repond to you most days if you need anything. Best way is text - (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
The modem is adsl with a minimum download capacity. So if you can use it for basics only please, the password is in the room. At holiday times and weekends it may have a weak signal. If you must rely on internet while you are here it may not be reliable enough?
Nearly all of our guests want to be independent and self sufficient. This is a good place for that sort of stay. Its a quiet area so the apartment/flat is for a single or a couple wanting a quiet time, who love nature and the beach, bush walking etc.
If you dont have a car, or if you want the service, you can get online delivery from the Coles supermarket.
The minimum stay is two nights and set up for you to leave by 11am. We are mostly flexible and it is ok to come early and to stay late on your last day most weekends, if you can send us the request in time thanks.
RE sand - There is an outdoor shower and hose in the driveway corner for washing off sand. You also have a hose in the courtyard. It saves the sand-in-the-shower problem which we want to avoid.
You may need to use the headphones on the television/dvd player if you are watching it late at night - our sleeping neighbours and their children a just nearby! Dvds go into the monitor silver side to you, label to the back. We have left a few in the room and have lots of spares if you want to have a videofest - just ask.
We have a cleaning fee - but we do ask you to leave the room, bathroom and kitchen as you found them. The cleaning fee is for setting up and making the rooms super clean and ready for you.
FOR DOG OWNERS - read on please ....
You can bring your dog/s by negotiation, as long as you pay for any damage including the doors - $400 each for deep scratches ( so far no problems ) or carpet. Since there is no shelter for a dog, please always take your dog with you whenever you go out. Your courtyard has a high fence - you can see in the pictures. it is really safe for a dog/s.
There are many dogs in the street so a special request is that, when you come back from the beach, you bring your dog right into the courtyard on a leash. Its better for us if you bring your own sheets and bedding if you have a dog/s. Let us know if you are doing that thanks.
The only other request is that you close the doors of the rooms if you are not in them or you go out as the wasps and lizards can come in and make your room their home - we are right next to bush!
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.
I live next to the beach at the northern end of Byron Bay. I love nature and spending time with people, especially those who are into personal development and transformation.
My background metaphysics which i studied as a teenager and then yoga - i trained as a yoga teacher in 1977, when i lived for nine years as a swami in the Indian yoga ashram, . Upon my return to Australia I also trained to become a breathworker and my main work now is training breathworkers. I also conduct retreats one to one and i love this work which produces great results.
I first went to India to be initated into Kriya Yoga 1976 and so i have been practising and teaching yoga and meditation for a long time. I love yoga and breathwork, especially the breathwork capacity to support people in living intentionally instead of just surviving.
The other fun side of my life is my dog and the dog beach just here which is leash free
I am open to having visitors with well behaved dogs stay here, and those who love to see a dog free on a beach as much as I do. The beach here is as far as the eye can see north and south and no buildings in sight - and mostly deserted.
