We loved this haven! Dianne was a great host and gave us the run of the house, and she told us she would be as interactive (or not) as we wished. Word to the wise: Interact with her; she’s a delight.
The place is rustic, but so beautiful in a lush, forestry setting. It reminded us of our own mountain lake cabin but in a Bay view environment. The view from the front deck is wonderful from high on the hill overlooking the bay. A cup of coffee in the morning looking out at the bay, listening to the birds, and seeing the day awaken is very special. A glass of wine or cocktail in the evening looking at the same view brings a nice closure to the day’s activity.
Dianne took us out for a sail on the Bay in her private sailboat which is an extra option offered at a nominal cost and well worth it. She really is quite the captain, and filled us in on the history of sites seen. It meant a lot to us as we were leaving the Bay Area home that my wife grew up in and it gave us a nice farewell to the city on the Bay. This was a wonderful two night stay and we had a great time and many light hearted stories and laughs with Dianne on the deck. We will come back anytime we are lucky enough to visit again.
Dianne was a wonderful host to us and was very thoughtful to make us feel welcome during our stay for Valentine's weekend with cute Valentine's decorations around the house and even Prosecco, strawberries, chocolates, and themed table set-ups to set the tone. It was a pleasure getting to chat with her as she had a lot of great stories and gave us plenty of ideas of what to do around town, from restaurants to activities. She was definitely a major highlight to making our weekend a memorable one as we got an inside view of what it is like to live like a "Sausalitan" for a few lovely days. Waking up to such a beautiful view of the bay right outside your window in such a charming home really transported us into a different world, which is just what we needed. Everything is a stone's throw away, so bring your bikes if you want to really enjoy getting around and soak up the sun because it is such a bike-friendly town. We will definitely be back to go sailing with Dianne the next time we are in Sausalito!
This was my second time staying at Dianne's place, this time with a little more time to check things out and my girlfriend to accompany me. Dianne was very fast to respond and arrange for us to stay on short notice, as I'd just remembered the place last minute. This house is truly one of a kind - every room is something different, bright, and welcoming. Dianne herself is a wonderful host and great to talk to if you have time to catch her for a conversation. Big plus during our stay was the weather, the deck is amazing!

About the Host, Dianne
Hi everyone! My name is Dianne and I love living in Sausalito. I enjoy everything about the outdoors; sailing, kayaking, rowing, hiking, gardening, biking, you name it. Also love playing dominoes and backgammon. As a native San Franciscan, I've enjoyed every moment of living here.
Traveling the world is my passion, with Italy at the top of the list. Lago di Como and Villa D'este have a special place in my heart! I love teaching women how to sail,(so they feel competent and confident) and now teach couples, families, corporate bonding on my sailboat. I have sailed the Caribbean, Hawaii, Greek Isles, San Francisco Bay, the South Pacific. I also take children out sailing who have cancer, and their families for simply a fun day, to enjoy, and get away from it all! I graduated from UC Berkeley, and have affiliations with Marin Rowing, University of Washington,( especially the crew team) and with the University of Oregon and USC.
Send me a message with any questions you have, and I look forward to hosting you at my Sausalito home. Ciao!
