Built in 1894, this completely restored, one-bedroom home boasts 12' ceilings, original bead-board panelling and a huge bathroom. Relax in the clawfoot tub or cook up a delicious dinner in the fully equipped kitchen. The huge, fenced in backyard is a great place to hang out and have a barbecue on the provided grill. End the day in the comfy king size bed and any extra guests can use the futon or air mattress in the living room. Only 4 blocks from the Silos and right across I-35 from Baylor.

The space
*** In light of the current pandemic, we have upgraded our already stringent cleaning protocols. In addition to our standard top to bottom clean between every stay, all surfaces in the house, including door handles, light switches, counters and tabletops, pillows and mattresses and of course, the entire bathroom are disinfected with a CDC-approved disinfectant that completely kills all viruses. Our cleaning protocols go far beyond what you will find in most all traditional hotels and are the same as the top luxury 5-star hotels. We are taking the health and safety of you, our guests, as well as our cleaners and staff, very seriously in this time.***

The Magnolia Brewery House
“Waco’s Hidden Little Gem”

This unique Waco home was built by Pat Cahill, manager of Magnolia Brewery 125 years ago when he arrived in boomtown Waco in 1894. At that time, this area of town was on the outskirts of Waco as it expanded away from the Brazos River to the West, just a block away from the famous Cotton Palace that attracted over 400,000 thousand visitors to Waco each fall to celebrate the cotton harvest. Built entirely of Texas virgin, old-growth heart pine, the Magnolia Brewery House originally consisted of only the front section of the entry hall and the two side rooms. Later, about 1898, the back room was added and at the same time the two fireplaces were built.

By 2019, the house had become abandoned, forlorn and red-tagged by the city of Waco for demolition. That is when the father and son-in-law restoration team of Kevin Durkin and Jake Tindell, happened by and recognized the hidden historic value of the house. Recognizing a challenge, and with a long track record of over four hundred building restorations across the U.S. and as far away as China and New Zealand for people like George and Laura Bush and Jimmy and Sue Fallon, they tracked down the owners and set about the painstaking restoration process, first by tearing down later additions on the back. They immediately uncovered and restored hidden features like the thirty-foot deep, hand-dug, brick-lined well that you can go on out back and pump yourself!

Uncovering the original interior walls and woodwork, they opened up the ceilings back to their original twelve-foot height and restored the closed fireplaces and heart-pine floors. The back room they fitted out for your comfort with all the conveniences of a modern bath. Then they topped off the restoration with period, turn-of-the-century furnishings.

Today, the Magnolia Brewery House stands as a testimony to the recent re-birth of downtown Waco. Situated within easy walking distance of the later Magnolia Silos, this unique home offers visitors inner city convenience in a charming, original historic-Texas setting.

I live on a 500 acre farm with my wife and 9 children. Born and raised in Texas, I grew up in Austin and have lived in Waco since 1990. In addition to renting and selling tiny houses, I'm an executive manager for a group of craft businesses at Homestead Craft Village just outside of Waco. I'm also a choir director and worship leader at my church. After being in home construction for many years, in 2016 my teenage sons and I built a tiny house partly as a school project to teach them everything that goes into building a home on a small scale. We have since branched out into more tiny house styles including shipping container tiny houses. We are now renting these tiny houses out to vacationers to Waco as well as selling them around the country. We hope you enjoy it!
