The condo is yours to make your home. There is a closet, cabinet, and loft space, that I keep my personal things so no reason or need for you to access them.
Interaction with Guests
You'll be in communication with me personally. This is my home, so I clean it and am there to greet you, give you a tour and keys, and again to see you off!
Grove Street PATH station is 7 min walk (to and from NYC and Newark Airport).
Taxis are at the Grove Street station if you choose. The Jersey Avenue light rail is a 3 minute walk (within Jersey City and Hoboken).
Keep the street off your feet. Kindly remove your shoes before entering the apartment.
Leave all dishes and pots clean. Wipe down stove top if necessary. Place a paper towel over microwaved items to prevent splashing. Place trash in appropriate bins.
Clean up your bathroom mess, i.e. the toilet rim and hair sitting on the drain- no one wants to see it.
The sheets are clean- I promise- so sleep between them, not on top of the white comforter. Remember, your luggage has been wheeled through the same stuff your shoes has, so please don't put your luggage on top of the white comforter.
No eating food on the couch.
Please take precaution not to damage the furniture- use coasters under glasses and don't throw sharp objects (like keys) on surfaces.
Turn off heat or AC when leaving the apartment.
Turn off lights (make sure the dimmers “click” off) when not in use.
We spent a relaxing long weekend in a favorite neighborhood in Jersey City. Marcia's apartment is clean, spacious, well appointed and comfortable. Location is perfect for enjoying lots of great local restaurants and bars as well as for easy access to NYC. The outdoor living space included with this unit was a huge plus for beautiful summer mornings and evenings too. Everything we needed was available to us. We'll definitely be back!
This apartment was great for a few days in NYC - it's big, has good air con and the neighbourhood is lovely. It's 20 minutes from Manhattan on The PATH which was cheap to use and safe. We really enjoyed using the patio and the washer/drier in the basement was really handy. There were a few things that would have made our stay better though:
- The iron and hairdryer were travel size and neither was very good. Full size or newer versions would have been better.
- The fridge, freezer and bathroom cabinets had not been cleaned out, so there was old food and half used deodorants etc. in the space. We felt this was a bit off putting.
- Some tips on the area such as restaurants/grocery stores would have been appreciated. We were sent through some articles on how to not behave like a tourist and not annoy New Yorkers, but it would have been more welcoming to provide some information on how guests could enjoy the city.
Overall it was a great apartment and well suited for couples, the area definitely surpassed our expectations.
My home is a rotation of guests, not a hotel, so yes, there is left over food and toiletries that you are welcome to use or not. I actually provided several links on things to do in the city on the same page as the comical puppet show of "how to behave." In addition, my guidebook on my airbnb page has many many tips and recommendations with maps of the neighborhood, its stores and restaurants. It's all very detailed. I suggest that next time, you ask about these things instead of festering on them so you can leave this kind of review. You didn't have to feel upset or lost if you would have read the information provided. I told you to ask me anything at anytime, but never heard from you after check-in.
Marcia's place is fantastic. Exactly as described in photos and listing and very clean. Location is great for chilling or exploring Jersey and NYC with a 10min walk to PATH station to Manhattan.
Only thing that may affect some travelers is the apartment is on the 4th floor and you have to go up a a few flights of narrow stairs with your luggage. No problem for us but might be a challenge for others.
Marcia's apartment is beautiful with tons of natural light. It's kept immaculately clean and feels very much like home. The location is excellent, a few minutes away from the PATH train that takes you right into the heart of Manhattan. A lot of nice restaurants in the vicinity.
