The Space

This is a fully self-contained, private studio apartment located on a gated 32-acre cherry and horse farm near the entrance to the Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park in Central California. The apartment is fully furnished and attached to the farm's shop - next to the main home. You will also have access to the swimming pool, BBQ grill, entertainment areas, etc. There are two large fire pits available for use during the cooler months. One is next to the garden and park while the other one is next to the horse barn.

You can also enjoy walking through approximately 2.5 miles of cherry and citrus orchards along Fancher Creek, which runs along the southern border of the property and is one of the few creeks in California that flows during the summer/fall.

There is a queen bed in the apartment along with a twin rollaway bed. It also has DirecTV, wireless Internet service, a full kitchen, and laundry facilities. The Internet is via satellite service so may be slower than what is common in cities.

The main visitor center in Yosemite National Park is less than two hours away (unless traffic is backed up getting into the park). The Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park are both approximately 45 minutes from our home. The Paso Robles wine region is approximately 2.5 hours away and a lovely way to enjoy a day.

Pets are welcome if you let us know in advance and clean up after them. There is also a large, outdoor dog run attached to the shop. And, we have space for your horses if you happen to be traveling with them.

This is a non-smoking studio.

  • We had a great time staying here. Blair, our host, was very responsive to requests, questions, etc. Good value for the reasonable cost!

Mostly convenient to Sequoia and Kings County National Parks (at least 45 min drive though). Conveniently halfway between San Francisco/Bay Area and Los Angeles.

The pool was a highlight - especially enjoyed hanging out with the friendly dogs poolside :)

  • The overall experience is good. Blair's place is close to Yosemite and King's Canyon where we had a great time. Blair was very helpful. While I understand that the satellite signal for Wifi can be unstable, it seems only cover the area in the main house, not the studio we've stayed (three iPhones, none can connect to the Internet).

  • The apartment was perfect for the two of us; clean, cool and comfortable. It was convenient to Kings Canyon and Fresno and that made the stay great.

  • spacious studio ranch on a lovely farm. Was nice walking around, got to pick some cherries. The studio had air con which is great and many utensils for cooking a meal if you wished to. Many channels to watch on TV as well!

  • The house was perfect for us (two adults, a five year old, and a baby). Kitchen had all the amenities, so we could have breakfast before taking off for our day trips around the area. Farm was great--beautiful grounds and the cherries were so sweet--great experience for the little ones to pick from the tree. We found the house warm and cozy (didn't have to use the heater), and we were there during rain. Thanks again! Would love to return!

  • Great little ranch house/studio with high ceilings and lots of room. We enjoyed walking the grounds and watching the horses, picking a handful of cherries, and listening to the wonderful sounds of the country at night as we drifted off to sleep.

  • SUCH a cute place!! Private and peaceful and cute. I was working in downtown Fresno for two weeks and this was a perfect alternative to staying in that area. Sure it was a drive but traffic was non-existent so I always knew exactly how much time I needed to get to work. Would recommend it to roadies working at the Saroyan any time. Wish there were a little more information in the house (I never met the people in the main house who have the internet password and it took me a few days to locate the dumpster for taking out my trash!) and many of the light bulbs seem to be out - otherwise, a perfectly nice stay.

  • Blair was very easy to communicate with, and the apartment was fantastic. Would stay again.

  • My girlfriend, our dog and I had a great time at the farm. The studio was larger than we thought. Unfortunately, the heating did not work. However we were provided with a mobile heater, which had a little trouble keeping the large room warm. The farm manager was very sweet and helpful. We got 4 (!) large bags of fresh oranges from the farm, appetizers for the 49ers game and a ride with some kind of golf cart through the large property. Very cool!

About
I moved to California from Texas 23 years ago with the intention of returning after experiencing the West Coast for two years... I discovered the beauty of California and learned there are not many bugs to annoy you on a nice, quiet evening. So, I bought a farm in 2005 and am enjoying growing cherries. In my work life, I also manage a large farming, packing, and sales company. We grow and/or pack cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums, pluots, grapes, raisins, pomegranates, and persimmons. And, my 15-year-old daughter raises horses on part of the property. We love exploring the world and enjoy meeting new people with diverse interests. Our farm is a quiet, peaceful place centrally located in California.
