About This Listing
Find romance and relaxation, or adventures beyond your wildest dreams! We’ll make your stay memorable, we promise.
Nestled in a peaceful West coast forest setting, yet only an 6 minute drive from both downtown Comox and downtown Courtenay, and even less to the most beautiful beach in the area.
We offer a cozy, detached, 600sq ft, one-bedroom cottage with lots of natural light and views of the gardens. You'll feel right at home with a full kitchen, full bath with deep soaker tub, private patio with barbeque, garden seating area, and parking at your doorstep. A pull-out couch is included in the living room to accommodate up to a total of 4 guests.
Complimentary Coffee, tea, pancake mix, and syrup are provided for breakfast. And popcorn, of course, to go with the all-you can-watch Netflix subscription. There is free WIFI and guests also have access to their own washer & dryer (soap provided).
Interaction with Guests
We live in a separate house on the property and will sometimes invite our guests to join us for a glass of wine/beer, or barbeque or bonfire in the backyard.
The Dancing Trees guest house is located in a very quiet 'one road' neighbourhood with large 3/4 acre lots and lots of mature trees, which makes you feel like you're away from it all, in a forest-like setting. Fortunately, we are only a 5 minute drive from beautiful beaches, a world class golf course, and both downtown Comox in one direction and downtown Courtenay in the other. We are fortunate to also have an easy 30min drive to the local ski hill at Mt Washington.
There are 2 bikes with helmets for our guests to use freely, but we recommend a car rental for further travel as we are not directly on a transit route. We are more than happy to help our guests out with transfers to/from the Comox airport and/or the Powell River ferry.
Other Things to Note
Things to do in the area?
Explore the wilderness of Strathcona Provincial park or ride the slopes of the world famous Mt. Washington ski resort, both within a 30 min drive. Or stay closer to home with beach walks, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, stand-up paddle-boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, kiteboarding or a round of golf at the Platinum-rated championship Crown Isle Golf course, all within a 2-5 min drive. Day trips for whale watching or to the artsy Denman and Hornby islands, or to the Sunshine Coast are also only a hop, skip and/or a ferry ride away.
Wildlife sightings are more than likely, with such diversity as seals in our harbor, great blue herons on our beaches, bald eagles in the skies, and deer on neighbourhood streets.
The Comox Valley is also well-known for its Arts and Music, as can be seen by the many arts festivals and open mike nights at local cafes and pubs.
As outdoor enthusiasts and music lovers ourselves, we'd be happy to share with you, all the best places to see and do all kinds of fun things. Just ask :-)
We politely ask that all guests respect the neighbours and the environment during their stay, by toning down music and noise between 11pm -7am, keeping laundry (of towels and such) to a minimum, and using the recycling receptacles provided.
No smoking, candles, or smoldering incense of any kind is allowed indoors.
Deposit of 50% is required on booking with remainder payable on arrival.
Cancellations on nightly rentals are accepted up to 72 hours before arrival, and cancellations on weekly or monthly bookings are appreciated with 7 days or a month's notice respectively. A refund will be given, less a $25 cancellation fee. The cost of a one-night stay will be charged for cancellations with less than 72 hours notice (nightly rentals) or less than 7 days notice (weekly rentals). Cancellations on monthly rentals with less than one month notice will be charged for one week at the weekly rental rate.
Sandra was nice and accommodating. I brought my boyfriend to Canada to surprise him for his birthday. We planned for a mountain biking weekend and Sandra had a lot of great recommendations. The cottage itself was really nice! We enjoyed our stay. She had a party one night (told me ahead of time too which was nice!) with a bunch of friends in the backyard and invited us to join but I unfortunately was feeling pretty sick so after we got back on Saturday night I took a bath and went to bed. Sounds like it was fun though, and had I been feeling better we would have stopped down!
This place was fantastic, it was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen. The sofa bed was as comfortable as any other sofa bed and the bedroom was especially comfortable. As promised. My favourite part of the whole apartment was the soaker tub. So relaxing. I suggest showing up with bubble bath. The dogs both next door and their dog was super friendly and so cute. All in all, beautiful place.
Wrk will be staying for two more nights. Review to come later.
This a great little place. Very clean and comfortable surrounded by beautiful nature. The privacy and quietness of the place is awesome since it's detached from the main house.
Sandra was very responsive I setting up the stay. Everything went very smoothly.
Nice little place! Really appreciated that they had a bunch of condiments, seasonings and other small kitchen items that suck to buy for just one or two uses. Had everything we needed. Nice forested back yard and great cedar smells. It is as good as the description.
We absolutely love Sandra's place! We don't want to leave! :( the apartment is beautiful, spotlessly clean, comfortable and welcoming. We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to stay again if we came back to Vancouver Island (pity it is so far from Australia! I would come back again in a heartbeat!)
Beautiful property and lovely stay.
About the Host, Sandra
My husband and I are easy-going people who appreciate art and music, and love to get out and enjoy nature. We especially love beach walks, kiteboarding, snowboarding, and gardening. Since we recently added to our family, and our new daughter is providing us a wealth of new experiences and laughs at every turn. Our dog loves her too.
The most beautiful beach in the area! This shallow-water sandy beach extends for 2km to Kye Bay. Walk out for nearly a kilometer on low tide.
Winter: Ski / snowboard / snowshoe
Summer: Mountain bike
All year: Gorgeous views of the valley, ocean, surrounding mountains
