Our private ground floor suite of rooms is wonderfully located for visiting the northern National Parks and cities as well as being a great stopover for travelling north or south. For a long stay or short stay a friendly welcome is assured.

The Space

The suite, which can accommodate up to four adults, is located on the ground floor of our house and consists of a bedroom with two single beds, a toilet with bath/shower, a lounge with a comfy double sofa bed and a small room with a sink and a wardrobe. It has its own door and is completely separate from our upstairs accommodation.

As an option for parties of up to six people including two children we can also provide two small single sofa beds.

Our house is located in the centre of Morecambe with short walks to all all the amenities. Just around the corner is the seafront promenade and beach with the spectacular views across Morecambe Bay to the mountains of The Lake District.

The town motto of Morecambe is "Beauty surrounds; health abounds" and within close range in all directions the surroundings have masses to offer.

Easy access to the beautiful Lake District by car (also possible by train and bus).

There are lots of cycle/walking paths which start right by our house. The paths will take you into Lancaster, along canal tow paths, around the Bay and as far as the Crook O'Lune and Glasson Dock Marina.

Also close by is the RSPB bird reserve Leighton Moss.

We are very happy to give advice or accompany our guests to provide guide services throughout the North West of England. Why not have a look at the map for typical examples of the many places to visit in the region :-)

Using our local knowledge ensures your maximum enjoyment.

We are two minutes from Morecambe train station which is two stops from the West Coast main line station of Lancaster which connects to London, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is possible to visit the Lake District with a mixture of train and bus.

We are located very close to an extensive cycle network and the start of the Way of the Roses long distance cycle route. We have space to safely store several bikes in the basement.

There is no kitchen but there are supermarkets and restaurants very near by.

There is a single 24 hour free parking parking space otherwise free parking in front of the house is limited to 6pm to 10am. Otherwise there is plenty of paid car parking all around the house.

Guest Access

The suite is accessed from a shared front door and hallway but has it's own ground floor access from the hallway making it completely private and for sole use by the guests.

Interaction with Guests

We love to chat to our guests and give them help and advice to make sure they make the best use of their time in the area which has so many great places to visit.

The Neighborhood

We have nearby access to view the Lakeland Fells across the uniquely beautiful Morecambe Bay with its vast expanse of exposed sands at low tide and its sunsets that are second to none. With the nearby ancient churches at Heysham and the restored Art Deco Midland Hotel on our doorstep there is plenty to explore locally as well as all the beauty that surrounds us.

Getting around

The train station is just minutes away which simply links Morecambe to Lancaster and the main West Coast line. By this means the cities and airports of London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester are all simple to reach by train; as is The Lake District.

We are also located minutes away from the ferry port of Heysham for trips to the Isle of Man and Ireland.

  • Marianne was an excellent host. She was warm and friendly, and gave us plenty of advice on what to do around the neighbourhood. She even checked on us after we had settled down to make sure that we were comfortable.
The apartment was clean and newly furnished, with comfortable beds and sofa bed. The neighbourhood was very quiet when we were there (a Saturday) – the mall and shops weren't open, but we found a big Morrisons just down the road, which was very convenient. We managed to take a leisurely stroll along the beach, a 3 minute walk from Marianne's apartment, which was lovely. I would definitely recommend Graeme & Marianne's apartment!

  • Our vacation started with a great time in Morecambe. Marianne informed us in advance how to reach the apartment from the railway station in Lancaster. She was very friendly in welcoming us. The flat was exactly what we expected it to be, from seeing the pictures. Perfect for us! We could put our bikes inside, safely. We enjoyed riding our bikes along the sea and having diner at an Indian restaurant. After a good night's sleep we started our first day of cycling "the way of the roses". Unfortunately it rained when we left for Settle, but not for the whole day!

  • We stayed for a night on the way to Scotland. The apartment is lovely on the ground floor of Marianne and Graeme's house it is actually bigger than we had thought. It had everything we needed and Marianne had left some milk and biscuits for us which was very sweet and just what we needed for a culpa when we arrived. Marianne is really helpful and friendly. Morecambe is interesting and we were blessed with sunny weather. We had a walk around and drinks on the terrace of the Midland Hotel.

  • We stayed with Marianne and Graeme for one night. The place was fabulous with plenty of space and everything we needed. The bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and lounge were very clean and comfortable. Marianne went out of her way to help us and make us feel welcome. She helped us find places to eat that were close by, she helped with a large load of washing and she wrote out great details and recommendations for our drive through the Lake District the following day. We have a small baby so all of these things really made us feel comfortable, welcome and relaxed. Everything you need is within walking distance, although we were given a few snacks and drinks. We highly recommend staying here and hope we might again in the future.

  • Travelled from Belfast to Morecambe for the first time in 10 years with my Mum and Daughter. Stayed in Marianne & Graeme's flat. It was lovely as was Marianne. Marianne is very friendly and helpful and the flat was perfect. The only problem was we had to go back home:(

Graeme is an English pharmacist married to Marianne who is Danish. Actually we got married in Las Vegas which was good fun. We are both big time into skiing and also love scrambling in the beautiful English Lake District which is right on our doorstep. We love travelling and meeting new people. We spent seven winters working as chalet hosts and ski guides in the French Alps but now we are settled permanently in Morecambe.
