  • We experienced a wonderful time at Penthouse Xaguar in Playacar. We spent 10 days there in March and it became our Mexican home. The beach was close by, just a couple of blocks down the street, and it was pristine and uncrowded. The apartment was within easy walking distance to Playa del Carmen and all of its restaurants and shops, but far away enough to provide us with the peace and quiet that we like. The apartment contained all the essentials that we required, a spacious living area, and a more than functional kitchen. There were several balconies, one of which provided us with a view of the Caribbean. The linens on the bed were clean and we were provided with towels, some toiletries and fresh drinking water almost daily. We felt very safe here and comfortably at home. While we never met Marielle, we communicated with her several times through email and a few phone conversations; she was always most courteous, pleasant and professional.

  • The penthouse was fantastic! Marielle was very quick to send her men over to help us with everything we needed. Location was a quick walk to the famous 5th ave and literally two blocks to a PERFECT beach. Highly recommend!

  • Marielle actually hosts seven properties in this established residential neighborhood that is two short blocks to the beach. We rode to our place that first day on a bicycle taxi we picked up at the ferry. This is at the edge of the town and we can see the town square on our right filled with people and beyond, shops and restaurants that stretched away down 5th Ave. Our bike taxi turned left into Playacar, and under a cool canopy of trees and suddenly the sound of birds was all around us. Maybe 5 long blocks later we turned right and were there. Up an exterior stairway to the second floor front door that led into our living room and kitchen with balcony , and to the left a short hallway to the full bath and bedroom with two queen sized beds. Wait a minute, up a masonry spiral stairway to the 3rd floor and a huge king size bed under a vaulted brick ceiling with another balcony. To the left a walk in closet and master bath with double sinks. In the bath there is another door that leads to a large open balcony with a wooden plank stairway to the roof with a view just above the tree line revealing the sweep of turquoise caribbean shoreline.
There are three of these beautiful buildings in a row with a pool at the rear of the center building with lots of places to sit in the sun or shade. The bikes gave us easy access to many parts of the town of Playa del Carmen. We discovered wonderful vegetable markets with fresh orange juice to stock our kitchen. By the way the avocados are behind the counter at the check out. When we had a lot to buy we took a cab to the Chederdui (sp?) everything store for $5 each way.
We shopped and people watched or went to the beach by our place for absolute quiet or the the beach in town where a massage, lunch, or a cool drink are at hand.
This is the first place in Mexico where I would feel comfortable living for four months out of the year.
Did I say we liked it? Yes, did and we didn't even leave town to explore the Mayan sites or zip up to Cancun on the bus for 45 pesos.

  • Marielle and her team were incredible and the apartment was really nice and espacious. The swimming pool and the surrounding area were very peaceful and beautiful. It is located less than a minute to the beach and a few minutes away to Calle Quinta, the place where everything happens in Playa.

Playa is AMAZING for holidays. So much on offer. Tulum, Cozumel, Akumal, Coba, Chitzen Itza. Amazing food, drinks, climate, people!

    I LOVE Mexico.

  • If you don't want to stay in a resort with tons of people and like to explore your surroundings, then this a perfect stay! We enjoyed our stay at this penthouse because it was in a privately gated community area (Playacar Phase I) and minutes away from 5th Avenue. The community was very peaceful and the beach was only two blocks away.

I thought we only had a room to ourselves, but it turned out that we also had the kitchen and living room. We were able to make breakfast and keep some snacks during our stay. The jacuzzi was located on the roof of the third floor. We enjoyed the spectacular view from there while we relaxed. The house was clean and comfortable; it felt like home!

Everyone we met was really nice and attentive to our needs. The property manager greeted us upon arrival and gave us a warm welcome. He showed us around the house and let us know where everything was located and could be found. I would definitely come back here again with my family and friends to rent the entire house.
