How to get into the city from Ataturk and Sabiha airports:
(ISTANBUL'S PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS A RIP-OFF IF YOU PAY IN CASH. DO GET AN 'ISTANBULKART' AS A FIRST THING AT THE AIRPORTS if you arrive during official work hours of the buses and the metro (underground)... or as soon as possible when you get in town.
Please, do also note that to be able to get the discounts everyone should have their own card.)
Apart from the taxi option Havatas Airport Shuttles are the most straight forward way getting into the city particularly during the night when the public transport is scarce.
From Ataturk to Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque area) and Taksim Square you can also take the metro (M1)... changing at ZEYTINBURNU to the tram (T1) line (KABATAS direction)... and either get off at Sultanahmet station, or just continue to the last station of the line: Kabatas... and take the funicular up to Taksim Square from there.
For the asian side, get off at KARAKOY station which is at one end of the Galata Bridge and ask for the KADIKOY-HAYDARPASA ferry which is only about 100 meters away.
From Sabiha (on the asian side) to Taksim Square the best way is the Havatas Shuttle (12 TL.)... once you are there, you can take a taxi or the funicular-and-tram combination to get to Sultanahmet.
Also from Sabiha there are three public buses running to three places of the asian side: E-9 to Bostanci (the one to get to my place); E-10 to Kadikoy centre, where you can catch ferries to the european side of the city... and the third SG-1 to Kadikoy (you can ignore this one).
Public bus fare from Sabiha is 6 TL... You can purchase an istanbulkart here, too.
Very good kitchen, very good party :-) Thank you so much Sertas !!!!
Very nice room. I liked it.
Thank you Sertas for everything, we felt like being at home!!! Hope that we are coming back soon to lovely Istanbul and your home.
Not so Central as supposed, about 1 km to the metro station and then 1 stop to Taksim.. Very difficult to reach the place by myself, I had to take a taxi to find it. The room was very small and also not ready to host, there was another person living in . I decided to stay beacuse I didn't know were else to go, because of my late check in. It could be ok for 8€ per night, but I finilly payd 40€ because he accept guest minimum for 2 days. (Really don't know why). No towels given. The house was like a ghost house, were you don't know who is in and who is not. Nobody cared of me and no turistic information was given. I don't recommand.
I've spent a very nice time in Sertas appartment. I must say that I felt immediately like home. Sertas is very helpfull and kind person. He even aranged me a MR (magnetic resonance) for my painfull shoulder and I'm very glad for that. Thanks again, Sertas.
The location is very central but quiet at night. Closest metro is 5 minut away, Taksim square 15 minutes by walking. Old town is reachable in about 40 minutes by metro and tram. Shops are also very close so no problem to buy whatever you want.
Best value for the price you pay ...
Sertas is a good guy. he gave me the keys, showed me where everything was & let me be. perfect!
The apartment is comfortable & the neighbourhood is safe, and his TV has english channels.
Sertas is a very nice and laid-back guy. He was helpful and always asking if I needed help navigating Istanbul or if I needed anything while around the apartment. The place is in a very lively, real Turkish neighborhood, which makes it worth staying here alone, but it should definitely be known that it takes awhile (~30 minutes walking or 20 minutes public transportation to Taksim, much longer to Sultanahmet) to get into the more touristic areas of the city.
Sertaş' apartment located in a very nice possition. İf is close to public Osmanbey metro do it is easy to get anywhere in the city from there. İt is also within walking distance of Taskim. Perfect if you would like to see how local İstanbullers live, and have a break from the touristy side of İstanbul.
Sertaş is very easy to live with, and happy to help with local knowledge.
A nice place in a nice part of Istanbul. Sertas is a friendly and helful host and all my expectations were met or exceeded.
Great value, great neighborhood, warm welcome and great people!
Thx again Sertas!
