The Space

The treetop apartment is filled with skylights and has its own private rooftop deck. It has a brand spankin' new staircase (Spring 2014) up to the apartment that is sturdy and quite lovely. It's an easy five-minute walk to dozens (really, we mean dozens) of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, and art galleries. You're also close to Cherokee Park and on the edge of downtown Louisville. This home was built in the 1880s for C.C. Langhart, a steamboat captain on the Ohio River. Heart of pine floors, exposed brick chimneys, air conditioning, full-size refrigerator, microwave, smoothtop electric range and fully equipped kitchen.

Separate living room features full-size sofa, books and board games, 40-inch flatscreen TV with Blu Ray player, cable TV and streaming Netflix for all your favorite movies.

Two traditional beds, one queen and one double. Additional guests sleep on air mattresses or foldout futon.

Wake up in the morning, relax on your treetop deck, then walk to breakfast at a local restaurant or coffee shop (see our guide book for details). Return in the evening for drinks and dinner, and shopping at art galleries and boutiques. The Original Highlands neighborhood is a mecca for eclectic and independent local culture. This apartment is just two blocks from the Baxter Avenue and Bardstown Road corridors, which include Molly Malone's, O'Shea's, Wick's Pizza, Jack Fry's, Wild and Wooly, Quill's Coffee, Holy Grale, Heine Bros Coffee, and much more.
We love hosting guests in Louisville, whether it's one day, a week, or longer. Our guests come from across the United States, as well as Israel, Portugal, Australia, Canada, Columbia, England, Italy, and more.

Check out our Guidebook for our suggestions on local (and mostly walkable) drinks and eats.

  • Treetop was awesome. Very nice space and much larger than I expected. Great bonus. In walking distance to ton of stuff and the folks in the neighborhood were very kind and helpful when I got lost! Would highly recommend.

  • Wonderful little spot in the heart of Louisville! We booked last minute and unfortunately had to rush out before our stay originally planned for. But would love to stay here again!

If you're a bookworm, you'll LOVE the front porch/deck. We really enjoyed our stay! Thanks again to both of you!

  • we loved the place, esp the little rooftop patio. also, great taco place just around the corner. we initially thought we wanted to be in the NULU area but were happy to be in the highlands, which was home to just about every place we wanted to check out anyway.
hosts were fantastic and quick responders to our neighborhood questions.

  • We could not have had a more perfect weekend in the Treetop Apartment! The apartment was gorgeous, and Jen and Alex really went the extra mile to include lots of wonderful little touches and amenities - we felt right at home. The location is wonderful, you're right in one of the coolest neighborhoods around and the deck on the apartment is amazing.

Thank you Jen and Alex for your hospitality! We will for sure be back our next time in the beautiful city of Louisville!

We are happy to have the chance to host folks in our home! We have lived in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville since 2003. We love sharing the River City with visitors. We are happy to give advice about where to eat, drink, and play (climb, bike, run, camp, yoga) in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
