Description

The space

Located in the hip Highlands neighborhood, this private luxury apartment offers a full kitchen and bath, vaulted ceilings, and master bedroom with queen size bed. Character, charm and convenience in Louisville, KY. Come and stay awhile.

The treetop apartment is filled with skylights and has its own rooftop deck. It has a staircase up to the apartment that is sturdy and quite lovely. It's an easy five-minute walk to dozens (really, we mean dozens) of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, and art galleries. You're also close to Cherokee Park and on the edge of downtown Louisville. This home was built in the 1880s for a steamboat captain on the Ohio River. Heart of pine floors, exposed brick chimneys, air conditioning, full-size refrigerator, microwave, smoothtop electric range and fully equipped kitchen.

Separate living room features full-size sofa, books and board games, 40-inch flatscreen TV with Blu Ray player, cable TV, Amazon TV, Netflix and other streaming channels for all your favorite movies and shows.

Two traditional beds, one pillow-top queen and one double. Additional guests sleep on foldout futon.

Wake up in the morning, relax on your treetop deck, then walk to breakfast at a local restaurant or coffee shop (see our guide book for details). Return in the evening for drinks and dinner, and shopping at art galleries and boutiques. The Original Highlands neighborhood is a mecca for eclectic and independent local culture. This apartment is just two blocks from the Baxter Avenue and Bardstown Road corridors, which include Molly Malone's, O'Shea's, Wick's Pizza, Jack Fry's, Quill's Coffee, Holy Grale, Heine Bros Coffee, and much more.
We love hosting guests in Louisville, whether it's one day, a week, or longer.

Check out our Guidebook for our suggestions on local (and mostly walkable) drinks and eats.

Our neighborhood is full of charm and character. Expect big Victorian style houses, big trees and many areas to get pleasantly lost.

Get around on foot, ride the public bus called TARC with several stops close to the house, take a cab or use Uber. All parking in this area of the city is on the street but free. It is easy to find a spot and safe.

Guest access

Check-in and Check-out is 100 percent self-serve, day or night. Jen will provide a code for the lock box on the door to the third-floor deck.

Interaction with guests

The apartment has a separate entrance located in the back of the house. We live downstairs but you will have total privacy.

The neighborhood

The Original Highlands neighborhood is full of charm and character with Victorian homes, parks, shops, bars and great places to eat. It is a walking neighborhood very close to downtown.

Getting around

The bus system is TARC. There are many stops close to our house. Additionally, there is a strong Uber presence in town.

Great space! Only stayed for a night but would be comfortably equipped for a longer stay. Watch your head!

This was a gorgeous spot to stay in Louisville. Alex and Jen both introduced themselves upon arrival and offered anything we may need for our stay. The house was huge! Much bigger than I expected and everything was clean, friendly and inviting. The area was such a scenic neighborhood that I highly recommend and would definitely come back and stay at this spot if we make it back down to Louisville!

I stayed here with my boyfriend for a long weekend and we had a fantastic time. The location is perfect, you're both in walking distance and a short Uber ride away from anywhere you'd like to go in Louisville. The deck is perfect for laying around on during an afternoon and feels very private. Everything we needed during the stay was at the home and the bed was very comfortable. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

We are happy to have the chance to host folks in our home! We have lived in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville since 2003. We love sharing the River City with visitors. We are happy to give advice about where to eat, drink, and play (climb, bike, run, camp, yoga) in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.
