Gisella is the best host I had!!! She's a wonderful person!!! The apartment was super clean and very comfortable!! Well located!! Very close to everything!! Great restaurants, nightlife and the beach. The apartment was very quite and I slept really well. It was very clean and organized. Gisella knows everything around and gave me the best tips. I was able to walk down to Leblon beach and enjoy the nice weather. Beautiful place!!! Definitely going back!!

We had a great stay at Gisella's. We arrived late at night and Gisella was waiting for us. The apartment is nicely decorated with attributes from different countries she collected over the years. The room we stayed in was clean, had a good bed and a green terras with hammock. We felt very at home and could go our own way. Most of the days we met eachother during breakfast at the kitchen table. She even took us out for a hike, a small favela and to a nearby beach. Leblon is a safe area. The apartment is close to shops/the main street, close to the bewch and public transportation. I would recommend staying at Gisella's a lot, if you like a personal feeling to a stay. She is a very interesting woman, kind and relaxed. We'd love to come back!

This place is a real diamond... Located in a safe residential area of Leblon, it's a 5 min walk to Leblons chic avenue for restaurants, bars, grocery, Citibank, liquor store, etc. Taxis are easy to find so getting around to farther destinations is not an issue. Gisella takes her role as a host seriously and makes her guests feel very comfortable. The home itself is just as cozy and tasteful as it looks in the photos. I only booked for one week and wish I had stayed longer!!

I had a nice time at Gisella's place. It's in a nice location but you should know - if you're not in the best shape or if you have trouble with hills or stairs- you will have a problem. Her place is located on a very large hill with a fairly steep incline. On top of that she is located on the fourth floor of a walk up and then your room is located up an additional flight of steep and short stairs. Beware if you have heavy luggage, walking or knee issues, or anything along those lines. Besides that, the interior is clean but very decorated with collections of this and that. I purchased some small foods that her nephew ate on accident as I didn't label it. Her nephew was very very helpful though and we used (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) translate to communicate a bit. His friend was also helpful. They made sure I was able to get to and from the apartment with no problem. Her nephew carried my luggage up (all the flights of stairs) to my room and down again when I left. What a hero! I think that sums everything up. I didn't meet Gisella as she went on a cool last minute getaway with her friends but she was very accessible before my arrival and checked on me the day before I left. There aren't any toiletries but I assume that shouldn't be a problem. She has Wi-Fi and ac in the room.

HI Akua, you're really a scholar!!! what a piece! well, arriving on a Sunday, is the catholic national day off and we did not have Antonio, the doorman, who always help guests. Thanks, Miguel did his role! I've told him today about your food and he was very surprised and asked you apologies since he did not know. I've left lots of food for him but normally i show the guests a shelf in a fridge and a corner at kitchen shelf, sorry. Maybe he did not tell you that. As for toiletries, we do leave some at the room's mirror chest of drawers such as eau de toilette, lotion, sunscreen and so no... .We can always provide if needed but in my house rules, i ask the guest to have theirs as normally the room is rented here for long term, so i cannot provide for long periods. Also, we do have a bottle and glass of mineral water, if you have noticed that, extra covers and sheets, lots of pillows, hawaianas sandals, sleepers, robes, sun hats, straw sunbed, books, maps and different guides from portable to heavy country's whole guides. Hope you have made to the hippie market fair i've told you as it does happens just on Sundays. Miguel says Hello! gisella PS: when i've asked who you were in the picture, is because if is an elder person, i refuse the guest, unless they are completely aware and healthy.

This place was beyond my expectations. .. i wish I had stayed longer and hadn't made other arrangements . At first after reading her house rules I did this k she was going to be as amazing. But then she was lovely and great and staying certainly made my trip a wonderful one it was right where I wanted to be as I had Co email for a friend's wedding and in the first night I walked like 10 min to go see my friends family. The neighborhood was secure and my room and the apartment was more than I asked for. Really comfortable and if it wasn't that i was in Rio I might have stayed in the entire time. I just wish I could have some friends over but it's her place and her rules. Overall I did have a great time and I will certainly stay here again next time !!

Response from Gisella:
Kwesi, next time we can talk over when you want to bring friends but i needed to know you first better before. You have asked that even before coming to Rio! I was at that time very busy with many issues, including attending a on-line course and i like to receive properly the visitors to my house. You were staying much longer here on your first reservation so, we could have more time, but you shortened it later ( with no penalties) and i could barely see you as you were so busy on parties! And either did I! that week i had 2 major family celebrations! hope you can come back many time to go to INHOTIM, MAR, MAC, MUSEU DO PONTAL, CASA DAROS, BELAS ARTES, CASTRO MAYA, CHÁCARA DO CÉU PARQUE DAS RUINAS. WOW!

Gisella was a great host! She was helpful, sweet and made my stay at her house feel like a second home to me. Her house is all that you see in the photos, absolutely beautiful, filled with treasures from around the world, breath taking views and she played good Brasilian music. The neighborhood where her apt. is located is very nice, super close to the beach, fantastic restaurants close by and the typical Rio juice bars where you can get juice from almost any tropical fruit.

me chamo Gisella e sou cineasta.

I'm filmaker and nature addict!
love traveling, yoga, dancing, reading, watching films of course, party with friends around.
I lived in Paris and Los Angeles, USA and visited many countries in Europe, Latin America and some in Africa. Now, going to discover Asia... started with India, great experience! Also like trekking in wild places around the world and South America, the best!!! Also mountains range in Brazil which are very unknown for the tourists. But Rio and Paraty keeps my favorites places in the world! we can go trek, bath on waterfall and beach at same day and same place!!
PS: this picture was taken in Ireland at famous beach from Ryan's Daughter a masterpiece film by David Lean!
