Located just a few miles from the east entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, you’ll enjoy the calm and peace that the high-desert has to offer. Revel in the sunsets and the endless sea of stars. Reliable Wi-Fi & STATE-of-THE ART A/C & heat.

The space

Rancho de Ardilla is a two bedroom house with one and a half bathrooms, both featuring gorgeous tile art by local artist and photographer Perry Hoffman (owner and visionary behind the Tile House, just down the road). Stunning magical views in every direction bring the wonder and beauty of the desert to expand your sense of your place on this planet.

The Rancho has a beautiful open main room with heavy beams on the ceiling and French doors that open directly into the expansive backyard where you can sit for hours underneath the endless sea of stars. During the hot months, you can sit underneath the shaded front porch. When you go outside, please remember to wear something on your feet – there are many sharp things in the desert, and Rancho de Ardilla can be a prickly place!

Rancho de Ardilla is dog-friendly, and the front and back yards are fenced and secure. Inside, we have Wi-Fi, STATE-OF-THE ART A/C and heating (IMPORTANT in the summer and winter months!), an iPod dock, a selection of books, DVDs and games for your further enjoyment. Fresh linens and towels and kitchen supplies are already on the premises.

Located just a few miles from the east entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, Rancho de Ardilla is an ideal retreat for rock climbers and park visitors. Just a few more miles and you’ll be in the center of 29 Palms where there are plenty of restaurants and galleries to visit.

We had an incredible stay! Daniel and Patty are wonderful and great with communication. Secluded desert vibes in such a comfortable and hip house!! Everything you need. It's so inspiring out here. The sunset from the back of the house is truly special! Thanks for having us stay :)

Loved this place. Wonderfully styled and groovy. Really comfortable yet placed in the gloriously stark desert. Reminds me greatly of the film maker Derek Jarmen's cottage in Dungeoness, England.

Beautiful gem of a house in a magical desert spot. I went alone with my dog for a writing retreat and loved every moment. Super quiet, calming, restorative. Birds and lizards outside for company. :) Plenty of easy running / walking / hiking down the dirt roads or across the landscape. Plenty of places to sit outside. And the house is a beautiful eclectic mix of vintage, found objects, art pieces. Especially the tile / mosaic work in the bathroom! Daniel and Patty were perfect hosts, communicative, easygoing, and generous, every step of the way. Kitchen is very well-equipped - I brought water and a few things to cook and didn't have to leave once. Can't wait to return!

I can only add to what other reviewers have said about this wonderful home and property. We absolutely loved it! We've stayed at several places in the area (Joshua Tree, Landers) and this one is definitely at the top of the list for overall outdoor experience. The views are incredible. The home is remote in the very best sense. The star gazing is fantastic. The fire pit is great for nighttime comfort and atmosphere, and the outdoor bathtub is bucket list worthy. Love the decor both inside and out--the photos don't do it justice. Our girls (4 and 8 were thoroughly entertained with all of the indoor and outdoor spaces to explore, hide, discover. And the 29 Palms entrance to Joshua Tree is fantastic! No long lines or delays getting into or out of the park. Daniel and Patty were also great to communicate with. Thank you!

If you are looking for an amazing desert getaway, Rancho De Ardilla is your place. The home is beautifully appointed and has gorgeous tile work in the kitchen and bathrooms done by local artist Perry Hoffmam. You can enjoy the views from inside or outside with multiple seating areas. Don't forget to check out the star bench after you have enjoyed a sunset! Or better yet, take in the star with an outdoor bath! Quiet and serene, yet close to everything. Just a short drive to town and the Park, the location is perfect, the house is awesome and the hosts are the best - definitely will be back.
