About this listing
This dreamy cottage is a rustic but super cozy unique portland experience. Queen size bed as well as a sleeping loft, kitchenette, OUTDOOR shower and bath only and incinerating composting toilet in a tiny homemade blue bottle bathroom, wood stove and heater.
The loft is not for young children!
If you're looking for something unique and amazing, here it is! This is a romantic, artistic and rustic getaway. I have a home in the quaint and beautiful SE Portland, just two blocks from the famous Hawthorn Blvd. and Division street.
I am offering a garden cottage with a hand built beautiful glass sunroom that has earthen floors and is attached to the cottage. There is a very cozy queen size bed as well as a loft with a japanese mat for another person or older children, not young children!. There is a steep ladder that goes up to the cozy sleeping loft that sleeps two. The space is small and you can not stand in it and it's an open loft, not private.
It is very light and airy and comfortable and dreamy.... There is a kitchenette (gas stove, toaster oven, coffee maker, fridge, sink, filtered water), incinerating composting toilet in the tiny blue bottle hand-built bathroom. Also, there is an OUTDOOR shower and bathtub amidst garden in a fairly private setting. There is also an amazing hand-built sauna. There is electric heat as well as wood stove. it can get warm in the summer and there are fans but no air conditioning. There is wi-fi, cable and a large tv for movie watching with a comfy couch.
There are several close by bus-lines within a few blocks but house and cottage are on a quiet street with private back-gate garden entrance, street parking, close to natural food store and many cafes and shopping, yoga studios, movies theaters, as well as the famous Mt. Tabor park. This cottage is a rare find in the city! ALSO:: If you would like to use the sauna and/or book an amazing massage with your host, Ruby, inquire when booking about rates and available times. This is a wonderful and rare treat with a dash of rusticness that will make this stay something i know you will enjoy and never forget.
Along with the cottage, you have your own outdoor shower and bath tub with hot and cold water. You have an entire backyard to sit and play in as well as an outdoor seating area in the garden which gets full morning sun. There is a back deck that seats 6 if you feel like using that as well which also has a bbq!
Interaction with Guests
i love to greet the guests when they arrive if possible but sometimes i cant and leave a key in a secured spot. I rarely interact with the guest in the cottage because it is not attached to the house and there is a private entrance. however, i am very available for any and all questions and am here if the guests need anything.
This gem of a stay is nestled in the back yard of my home, which is on a quiet street between two of the most popular areas of SE portland, Hawthorne st and Division st. There are cafe's and restaurants galore. This is such a wonderful part of town and extremely walking and bike friendly. There are three bus lines within walking distance but the cottage is in such perfect place as to never hear any buses or much traffic. You will hear and see many birds however!
there is street parking, walking is great, busses are close and bikes are a great thing to rent or bring if you can...downtown portland is a short bus ride and about a 25 minute walk, or 10-15 minute bike ride.
you will need to check in with home-owner, get shown around. There is a washer and dryer use for an additional fee of $5.00 per load. Sauna, massages are all available and an extra fee will be charged and paid on your last day here (cash is prefered).
Message fee: $75/hr , $110/ 90 min session.
Sauna by itself: $15 for two people, $5.00 each additional person).
There is absolutely no-smoking on the premises and would be best if you were a non-smoker all together, extremely minimal drinking, no drugs, no parties. This is a quiet healing sanctuary environment. If you smoke cigarettes, please do not rent my cottage. The smell is way too much as a sensitive non-smoker.
I have one quiet old dog but she is rarely ever seen, also a new kitty who doesn't really go in the cottage. If you have a dog, it may or may not be fine depending on several variables. Please inquire to see if this will be ok.
I am chemical sensitive so please do not wear synthetic perfumes or products here, essential oils ok. The outdoor shower drains into the ground so please use natural products only. Thank you!
Upon check in, you must have a valid ID.
