+IDEAL for business travelers as is close to all major businesses and convention centers.

Guest Access

Building is a duplex. This is the garden apartment/loft. You have your own front door, equivalent to 3 bedrooms for privacy. There are 3 premium queen mattress sofabeds plus 2 full size click-clacks sofas and a corduroy queen.

Gallery is 800 square feet with a foozball table, white board, bean bags chairs & sofas. I always fully stock the kitchen with food, beer, wine, snacks. Plenty for breakfast - always something to cook up for dinner. We have a stone soup or "take what you wish, leave what you wish" approach.
Open plan kitchen with eat-in dining area, plus the garden has a tall table and 4 bar stools, idea for a serene breakfast. Small cubby room can be used for private bedroom with its premium queen sofabed or sitting room. Livingroom has 2 more premium queen sofabeds and a corduroy with a door that closes in case you'd like to use it for a private bedroom as well.

  • Cheryl was a great communicator and very accommodating and hospitable. The space is a trip and a half, much better to stay in than a boring hotel. The location is great, safe and easy to get to Bart, Muni and if you don't mind some exercise, a nice walk to and from the Mission and the pier. One thing to note, Cheryl is a stickler with allowing any guests into the space. Our friends who live in SF couldn't come over for a drink before going out at night or for a quick visit before heading out for the day's adventures. Also, be sure and nail down a check in and check out time. We were hoping to check in around noon since we flew in at 8am, but instead had to check in around 5pm b/c previous guests were still there. Our check out was then at 3pm on a Sunday since international guests were arriving to check in. So if you don't plan on having anyone over and can communicate your check in/out needs with Cheryl ahead of time, you're golden!

  • If Cheryl was charming and welcoming at the beginning (she had bought cheese and 3 bottles of wine for us), we unfortunately ran into problems with her. The first evening we were there, we decided to invite four of our friends to have dinner together. It turns out Cheryl doesn't accept any guest even for a cup of tea or dinner, she just asked us to leave the flat (she lives upstairs and can have a look at the flat). The next day, she asked us to leave or pay 375 extra fee because of our one-hour dinner which she considered as a one hour party rental (she also rents out the apartment by the hour for meetings..........). We lost the whole morning calling airbnb to know who was right (us, at the end of the day). After that, we were not able to use the flat at our convenience and Cheryl followed our in and outs through the front door from her 2nd floor window. Quite a pity because the flat is amazing and it had started so well...

    Response from Cheryl:

Caroline and her unexpected 24 pack beer-toting party buds were the very first troublesome guests I have ever had. We agreed in writing by email "no additional guests." But the very first night, the HORROR began. Doorbell ringing, more and more and more people arriving until the place had over 20 people partying within hours of her arrival.

When I spoke to her, she INSISTED she had a right to have as many people as she liked over to visit any time day or night to party at our home during a 4 person reservation. When I tried to reason with her, the response was, "we are students. We have done this at Airbnb places before and no one stopped us."

I lost my entire weekend trying to be kind yet firm about no parties. Doorbell ringing, guys with 24 packs of beer in hand. They didn't even know Caroline's name. Just, "is this where the party is?"

Thank goodness for the sanity of Airbnb customer service who came to the rescue!

  • Cheryl is a great host and I'd be happy to stay here again. Her AirBnb has so much character and history. It's an old carriage house, where she's converted the first floor to a living/work space. Cheryl is extremely hospitable and was very easy to communicate with before and during my stay. She helped me get acquainted with the space and was nice enough to leave breakfast food, snacks, and some drinks for me. Definitely much nicer than staying at a more sterile hotel.

  • Cheryl is extremely kind and helpful person - at the beginning she have introduced us town specific places like restaurants, shops and car rental places which was really helpful. We knew that if we'd have any problems, she is the person we can rely on.

Our home was fully equipped with fdo and drinks which was great during morning breakfasts :)

I'm really recommending Cheryl and her house in SF!

  • Cheryl was very nice and extremely helpful during our trip. The appartement is surprisingly large for downtown SF, and very quiet. We definetely recommend it!

  • Cheryl is one super cool chica! We were really happy with her communication, she lives in the same building so there was no shortage of attention or worry about being stuck without help. This is definitely a funky place, so if you're open to 'outside the box' places this will be right up your alley.

  • Cheryl is the absolute best! This review will not do her justice, but I will try. From the first initial contact Cheryl was friendly, responsive and very helpful. I booked the place for 3 of our out of town employees and they loved it. She met w/ them at check in and answered all of their questions. My employees LOVED this place, it was so cultured and open and light - they had the best time. I think this will be my go to whenever our out of town employees come to SF. It's also very very close to everything. Cheryl is one of the best Airbnb experiences I've ever had! She is amazing!
