  • This a GREAT place to stay, I wish I could have lived there indefinitely, I stayed for 2 weeks. The people that run the place and live/work there are nice, and pretty much keep to themselves. I got to the "hostel" when it was about half full, there are A LOT of beds, aprox about 6 rooms with two bunks in each....soooo about 24 guests can stay at a time. WOW! When the place was full, it never ever seemed like there was that many people. There are two living rooms, one with a tv/cable two bathrooms. One fridge, one stove. You just had to figure out when people were not going to be in the kitchen cooking, most people I barely ever saw and they didn't cook. Also bathroom traffic was high in the mornings.
It was a really nice vibe there, very community-like, I met so many people from other countries and talking to them (or trying to speak an in-between language) was very cool. Like I said I would love to go back. The actual rooms are small, they fit the bunks and with 4 girls in a room, and all our luggage it was tight, but I didn't spend a lot of time in my room.

I noticed they any do cash payment if you pay when you get there...not sure how that works when booking (it might have been from a different sight).

Also its pretty cute! everything seems to be from Ikea, so it was bright and colorful :) I had a nice time and made some new friends that I'd like to keep in touch with.

  • This place sucks ass. They must have omitted the fact you are sleeping next to a fish market and it seeps into your clothes, how you breathe etc. I was sleeping in a 4 x 6 room with three other people. I have stayed in other hostels, and none are like this. The upstairs, where most of you will be staying smells like fish and you can hardly breathe, along with cramped quarters, makes for a horrible experience. The Building is essentially a family house with 4 rooms meant for 4 people max, instead you have over 16, and this was not even during the busiest season.

  • I had a great time at Adele Kahn. After the initial surprise of being further out of town than I would've liked to have been, the location was pretty good. It is definately the cleanest hostel I have stayed in during my three months in the USA. The overall character is pretty chilled out though it often resulted in lack of communication between staff. I was checked in by a long term guest as there weren't any staff members present. Nonetheless, I had a great time at this hostel and would stay again.

  • Thanks Jan, who was our host for the week.
The place is nice, clean, and at 30 min from Manathan with the D line, 55st.
    Have fun there!

  • really nice and very clean location!! although half of the rooms are just a few meters away from the subway, so bring some earplugs, because if you leave the window open it is really noisy.
but the place is really nice, i really liked the living room/kitchen!

  • Adele and her family who were managing the place was awesome. They will respond immediately if you pay right away; so keep in mind to put down the money! Yes, even it's pretty last minute. I literally paid at 9pm and moved in at 11pm. The house itself is in good condition; the common area, depending on how well the other guests have been treating it, is actually a cool place to hang out. It's four person to a room on double-decker beds, so if you have a ton of luggage, be considerate with them, or leave 'em somewhere else if you can. also, a large portion of your experience can depend on who you are sharing the room with, and your own attitude, so i'm leaving this for you to find out. with that in mind, the price is still crazy good value.

the place it right beside a 24 hour convenience store so that's awesome, and its also right beside the subway station for that area. literally right beside.
