This is considered one of the most beautiful resorts of the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, very near the Manuel Antonio National Park and the ideal place to spend a day out on a Tour to Cano Island without leaving this unique place. The gardens are known to be one of the most beautiful of the region with a very large collection of tropical plants, flowers and with a private trail to a waterfall in the middle of the rainforest.

Palapa Ecologe should not be listed as an Airbnb accommodation, because it is actually a small hotel with bungalows. It is a nice place with a beautiful garden but does not correspond to what you expect from Airbnb Airbnb accommodation. In Palapa Ecolodge there is no real kitchen to make a decent meal. You have to go to the restaurant where in a place like Manuel Antonio you are immerged in the tourism business with international food and bad music. Otherwise it is a good choice for people looking for a quiet place near Manuel Antonio which is no longer a place for ecologically aware people.

This is an excellent place for bird watchers with toucans & parrots nesting in the extensive gardens. Lots of other good birding close by. Ask Manuel for directions to playel del Rey, the lane is good for all kingfishers of the area, herons inc boat billed, we had indigo bunting and indigo grosbeak, scissor tailed flycatcher, galinules just to mention a few, the road is a bit rough but easily passable with SUV type vehicle. Very relaxing around the pool and in the gardens
